3 days Hiking Alone in Yosemite Backcountry - Glen Aulin High Sierra Camp

I spent 3 days 2 nights backpacking alone at Glen Aulin High Sierra Camp located at one of the most scenic Tuolumne Meadows area in the eastern part of Yosemite National Park. Entire trail runs along the Tuolumne River. Trail features beautiful meadows along entire length and series of mind blowing secluded waterfalls. I was lucky to find these beautiful landscape all to myself for most of the ...

    A great video! I did a day hike to Upper Cathedral Lake a couple of weeks ago. Living about 100 miles away, I try and do it at least once a year. This hike is not easy for me at 71 years old, but almost no hike is. I love the double-peaked Cathedral Peak next to the lake. I'm happy to say I had no problems with mosquitoes (wearing repellent), and the temp was almost 30 degrees cooler than home! Happy hiking, Andy

    Very nice. Did you do a lop or is it a walk in and out on same trail. Looking to find a nice loop for 3 nights below 9300 ft as I get altitude sickness above that.

    Did u carry a bear canister or bear bag? Still deciding which to buy… one’s lighter, the other is definitely better at stopping critters.

    • @CoastsToMountains
      @CoastsToMountains 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am using BV450 Jaunt Bear Canister. I think Canister are safer option because i had Raven attacks in past on my bear bag. i always carry my canister even in desert hikes.

    I see that you're using drones on your hike. This is absolutely forbidden within National Parks. Not cool. STOP!!! It's best to read up on the rules and follow them. This video could be used to prosecute you.

    I remember back in May of 1993, there were two streams which had logs to walk on and cross the streams. The other two streams one had to take off our shoes, pull our pants up above out knees and cross the ice cold water. Does two streams still require one to cross without the aid of bridges or logs??

    • @CoastsToMountains
      @CoastsToMountains 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe there was only one stream where i had to take off my shoes. I think there are new wooden bridges now cross creeks.

      @@CoastsToMountains Great! Was it difficult getting the wilderness permit for camping?

    • @CoastsToMountains
      @CoastsToMountains 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It was weekly lottery back then when i got my permit so it was decided on luck. Now Yosemite backpacking permits are available on recreation.gov website that are available but still tricky to get one. they disappear in few minutes after releasing.

    Very nice job on all technical levels. Maybe this is really just reflective of an editing choice, but you know your bear canister should be put at least 50 or so yards away from your tent for the night, and further is better.
