Well done👏
14.22 conversation, good training for the South Island, nothing will phase you.
Those shoes don’t look like an inviting place to dip warm toes 😂
Love
Aahh, thank you! The hut was in such a beautiful spot.
Welcome back you 2. Good to see you back on trail. I hope you manage the Tararua’s ok with all that food you have consumed over the last 12 days! Best of luck and looking forward to watching the remainder of your journey.
Thank you! We survived but were certainly rethinking the Brisbane 12 days of Christmas choices on day 1 and 2 of the Tararuas 😊
Great to see you back and all the best with the Tararua range.
Thank you! It was good to be back on the trail and now another ‘holiday’ before we start on the South Island. We’ve decided to NOBO the Sth Island and will start on the 31st. NYE eating noodles and other dehydrated delights! 🎉
Have a great Christmas break. Looking forward to your continuation
Congratulations on finishing the North Island ! It’s only going to get better from here
Congratulations on making it to Wellington, well done.
Thank you! Still need to conquer the Tararuas when we get back from Brisbane, but North Island just about done!
Soon be in the south island yippee!!
Can’t wait! The end of mind numbing days of road walking 🎉
You are going very well,if you are happy doing what you have done you will love the south
Thank you! We’re both so grateful that we’ve had the opportunity to drop everything for 12 months and give this a go. Cant wait for the Sth Island 😊
Yay!
Hi, are you guys still on trail?.
Sort of! Back in Brisbane now for a few weeks and ran out of data on our last week in NZ. Have about a weeks videos to upload today. Returning to NZ soon and we’ll get back on the trail again after Christmas. Are you doing the TA?
@ no not doing the TA but have been enjoying watching your journey. I look forward to your return. And your reaction to the South Island- you are going to love it!! Have a lovely Christmas.
Thank you! Also really looking forward to the Sth Island. A different version of the TA and hopefully an end to the mind numbing road walking!
The wee-wave 😂. We’ve all done it on the trail at some point.
Not my finest moment Kurt 😂
"Highlights - getting out of the canoe!" 😂 I SO feel that statement!! Well done on getting through the river section, especially with the contrary weather you experienced.
I don’t think I’m going to signing up for any river cruises again in a hurry!
So I’m guessing with the high water level you made it past 50/50 without going in?
There was a local guide with the school group who told us that the 50|50 was that day actually the 90|10 😂 we made it through but one of our group managed to hit a rock and flipped.
We are on Day 72😅
You guys are going to love the Whanganui river!
We are going the day after tomorrow
Wow! What a huge day but this stretch was the right time to do it. Beautiful, easy track but still…50+ kms !!!!!!😮
😂 seemed like the right decision until the point of no return! Big day but mostly downhill 😊
Wow! That river was really high. Good thing they postponed. Would have been hard to sit still that long though. Looking forward to watching these next videos.
Looks like a lovely place to hike! I would love to do a part of the Te Araroa one day!
You should! A very beautiful part of the world 😊
Bonjour.
So glad you had such a clear view at the top. Congrats for making it over the highest point on the North Island part of the TA
It’s going to be a sad day when the ostrich is no longer there to entertain TA hikers. It’s an icon on the trail!
Absolutely made our day. Beautiful humans 😊
That’s some good biking skills holding your camera while riding. Nicely done. Congrats on crossing the 1000k mark!
Thanks! Think a Tour Aotearoa could be in the planning 😉
Wow! Camp Epic was filled when we were there last year! I’m jealous of your lack of a bubble.
Such a privilege to have the whole camp all to ourselves 😊
That was a good idea walking down the road was thinking of doing that too when I do the TA next year
So pleased we did this. Almost felt like a rest day 😊
Absolutely! We did the trail last year a couple of days after rain and it was absolute rubbish. Road walk is definitely a better choice, especially after the long day over the Crossing! Great decision!
@@freedom_on_the_trail I remember watching the video its not the best track after the rain
❤good to see more people are getting into supplying trail magic. We had it only twice last year. Hope you get more.
This was a surprisingly beautiful section when we did it last year. You have captured its magic well.
Maybe cyclist doing Tour Aotearoa.
@@unahaclosp 2026 😊
You certainly have been able to avoid the bubble!
Just… we can almost hear their hiking poles on the bitumen behind us now!
Was it a morepork that sounded like a night parrot? Their call sounds like their name "more..pork, more..pork"
@@ElaynasBobs a cyclist who we were talking to later that day told us it was Kaka. I did a quick search and apparently they are known to be in the area 😊
I am from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦and I enjoy watching your channel. You are always motivating and entertaining.
Thank you so much 😊
Why did the chopper come in for him?
Docs in checking the toilet tanks. What a great way to get to work!
Thank you for showing the track how it is, roots and all.
Beautiful forest including the roots and mud 😊
You guys are going to love all the mud on Pirongia!
I'm at Hamilton right now on the te araroa trail
I thought the Hakarimata Track was a highlight as well.
Absolutely beautiful and loved how many locals were out enjoying it 😊
We’re in awe of the community work that happens on these trails for the benefit of the TA walkers. We don’t see a lot of this type of community spirit in Qld. The section through the bottom in the tall grass was pretty tricky and I remember feeling a bit concerned coming down the grass hill (slippery) at eye level for quite a way with a barbed wire fence. But TA is a bit of everything and long grass and barbed wire are all part of the journey 😊 Thank you for the work you do maintaining this section of trail and supporting TA 😊
I enjoy the memories without tired back and sore feet
Oh the sore back!! 😂
Quite a lot of people don’t enjoy the Whangamarino track at Mercer. This is my local trail. Was this in need to much trail maintenance? We usually head in there the first week of November to give it a tidy up
That is the worst road section of the entire TA. Ah the ankle-snapping stop banks 😂. Congratulations on one month in!! 🎉
Phew that’s good to hear! Honestly, it was terrifying Kurt. I didn’t even care about the ankle snapping stop bank because I was so relieved to be off that awful road 🤣 Yes, day 35 today and absolutely loving it.
Toe socks needed.
She was wearing toe socks! I suspect wet socks and sand. The comped plaster and hiker wool seemed to help her 😊
Wow, so beautiful on night 1 😊
I know! So many stars and beautiful sunset / sunrise 😊
Well done guys! That muds not easy to negotiate injury free st our age, is it!
Thanks! Was such a HUGE day and yes, was concerned about losing an ankle, knee or shoulder in there! 😊
How great were Kurt’s videos! So thorough. I giggle to myself every time I see a round bale now but am glad not to hear the joke anytime soon again, funny though it was💁🏼♀️
😊😊
Hi guys, Just wanted to reach out as I’m loving following along on your TA journey. Would it be possible to alter your audio levels in future as I’m finding the speaking parts are whisper quiet in relation to the music parts. I’m super impressed that you’re managing to upload vids whilst on the trail though so please keep them coming! I’m currently mid TA planning myself☺️
Thank you! I think I have it sorted on the Puhoi to Owera video going forward. Would love your feedback. Sounds fine in the tent pre upload but I’ve also heard on the tv and know that the sound quality is terrible. Best of luck with your planning, takes ages but worth the effort. We’re having the most amazing experience 😊
The talking is very quiet and the music is very loud.
Thanks, yes I’ve heard playing on a tv and agree it’s terrible! I think I have it sorted from Puhoi forward but would love your feedback. 😊
You should ask chat gpt how to normalise all the sound levels with the software you use. Because I turn up the volume to hear your voice, then the music is extemely loud when it plays. P.S love the journey - No pack start of the day energy has to be the best!
Thanks so much for your feedback. A couple of ours have mentioned the same thing. Sounds great on my end pre upload but once on TH-cam the music is super loud. Chat GPT is a great idea 😊
Am loving following along guys. All the very best & thank you for looking into the audio side as I’m really interested to hear what you’re saying. I know it’s hard to speak up when you’re in a campground first thing in the morning but I really do want to hear every word😃
