Fender Twin Amp 100/25 watt - 2 channel w/ Clean & Overdrive
มุมมอง 24K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Fender Twin Amp - Two 12" speakers - all tube (6L6 power tubes) - plugged straight in (no pedals), using footswitch to change from clean/pushed/overdrive Channel 1 - traditional fender clean, also has foot switchable gain knob that can be used for either clean boost or light overdrive Channel 2 - higher gain channel sounds great for smooth, singing sustain 100 watt with 25 watt switch for small...
I owned one for about 20 years, my favorite amp!
great Vid!
Does this version have amp tremolo too?
Awesome amp. I have one too and I think it’s just fine for my needs.
Regret selling mine
Ive slitly modded one ofem, awsm amp! Pro Tube series..
I'm a believer now! You have blown me away with the tone. Great video and chops. Thanks
That sounds so good, even through an iPhone speaker😳
Thanks for the great Demo of this one and only Evil Twin ;) glad I found one! It sounds really awsome.
what is that first riff please? i hear it everywhere in reviews and it's beautiful
“Lenny” by Stevie Ray Vaughan. Here’s a really good version. th-cam.com/video/i5sqJNFFwqc/w-d-xo.html
sounds great. i've got the same amp, and only thing i dislike is the size and weight.
Oppressively heavy!!! Agreed!!!
Loved Lenny. Great tone and playing.
Merci pour votre présentation.... Merci de France... ;)
Sounds killer , Really great playing man 👍
Have you tried it off it’s legs/stand through that wooden floor? Bet it’s mega. Try it!
For sure! It’s huge!
Nice playing Jack - I'm a little Fender shy after recently getting rid of my 40 watt Hot Rod Deluxe III. On TWO it shook the house - Not friendly or comfortable to play. Never know when it will bleed your ears. Love my solid state Princeton Chorus though. It's the Only solid state amp I own. Has the best TUBE TONES.
I hear you! I don’t play large enough rooms for this amp, so I sold it and bought a little Princeton reissue with a 12” speaker. It doesn’t sound quite as massive as this amp, but I can get the tubes cooking at reasonable volumes. When I recorded this (on volume 3.5), later that day my neighbor on the next block asked me if I was playing guitar earlier in the day, haha. Can’t believe he could hear it.
I want one of these...never been a Fender guy so I just discovered these amps existed...I think they released, hung around for a decade, got discontinued and now I find out about them 🤣
nice man thanks
I pulled 2 tubes and am using this at 60 watts. Still very loud though. Even at 25 watts this is LOUD. Mine made a 50 watt Marshall half stack guy ask me to turn down when at 25 wts.He with Paul and me with Lace Sensor Strat. She's a very loud amp.
Great tone and playing. 25 watts is sweet. Very nice.
Fender twin with a brownie cmatmods distortion pedal is the best u can get.if to lowd get a power soaker
How does these compared to the 90's Twin Reverb, better or worse? I can get either of these at similar price, but this one can be useful with the 25watt mode.
I’ve never played the 90’s version. I gigged with this amp for years and never took it off the 25 watt setting. 100 watts was just unnecessarily loud. It was still a little too loud for me at 25 w setting though, probably only reduces the actual volume by ~20%, but every bit helps.
@@jackstrawtube2399 how about say a normal reissue? If there is a difference in clean between a blackface reissue and the Pro Tube Twin Amp
@@wckoek Not sure, I’ve never played the regular old 65 reissue twin. I think those are 85 watt without the wattage reduction switch. I think it depends on how much you want to drive the amp. If you want to push it into slight breakup, get the lower watt version (or more realistically, maybe a Deluxe Reverb or something smaller). If you want pristine clean that never overdrives, then either is probably fine for a big clean sound.
@@jackstrawtube2399 thanks
What Model Stratocaster is this?? American professional 2??
It’s a Frankenstein at this point, haha, but began its life as an American Lonestar Strat circa ~2000. I took out the Duncan Pearly Gates bridge pickup and put in a cheap “Mean 90” P90 from GFS pickups. The P90 balances way better with the Texas Special single coils.
Tube driven reverb?
These are killer amps. I just had mine recapped and tubed. It is great at 25 watts, but it is much better at 100. After playing on the 25 watt then going to 100 it really comes alive.
How much was the recap and what's a reasonable price for a used one now?
@@ShineDawg it was $500 at Sweetwater
They go from $800, to around 1200.
@@keithrevst692 awesome, thanks for getting back to me. I think I'm gonna snag the one in my neighborhood for sale. Thanks again, all the best
@@ShineDawg Did you get the amp? If not make sure you have a place you can really make noise. Cause this ISNT a soft amp. In this video it's loud and he's really not even using it yet.
I have one and with compression and eq pedals I can get overdriven tones at a very reasonable level. No one lives close and during most of the day I can play it a ear bleeding levels.I fact I have five 100 watt amps,3 tube and 2 transistor units. I can run all of them at the same time and that’s when the earplugs go in.Rock on people ⚡️🖖🏽⚡️
Authentic sound. Thanks for that .Best greatins from Muinch, Baverian
You running stock tubes and speakers? Have the same amp and it doesn't sound as great as yours. Trying to figure out the missing link in make this amp sound better.
All stock. I think they’re Groove Tubes 6L6. Like a lot of amps, turning up the volume makes it sound more alive, but that is tough because it’s so damn loud, haha. I recently sold this amp and bought a Princeton 65 RI with a 12” speaker from Sweetwater. The Princeton doesn’t sound as huge as this Twin, but it’s more practical for typical bar gigs.
Can you still buy these? I don't think Fender makes these anymore, or do they? Both clean and gain channels sound great to me. Does this amp have an effects loop?
I’m not sure they make em anymore bit I just bought one from a guy on Facebook for $400 and an overdrive pedal. It does have an effects loop though
I just got a Red Knob for $450 off Craigslist. It’s in better condition than some guitar center listed ones going for $900. Careful with the input jacks as they are PCB mounted and would not be fun if you side swiped it. Definitely use an angled cable.
They are the best rock amp money can buy. Need a kick ass distortion pedal with a hot player then u will see good they really are put all the new evh to shame
You better have a place you can play loud cause this amp don't like low volume. It don't have no tone at low volume. But I'll never get rid of mine. It actually has such little use it looks new still. I had it since 96.
Great playing! Cool kids too 🤣
you are a blues master and that amp is out of its mind.
Great amp Jack, great playing but Hendrix "will" be turning in his grave if he saw your dress code bro.....thought your intro sound was a cheat(humbucker) until I saw your selector was in the neck pos....reason for checking your vid out is I nead a "driving south" sounding amp,but my marshalls are not quite cutting it.Got my eye on a used,The Twin, amp and your vid just drives it home to me big time....👍
I’m a deadhead hippie at heart, haha. Leave my hippie capris alone. :)
Wow your playing is awesome! 🎸
Wow great playing!! Nice sounding amp.. I was checkin out demos of these based on Jeff healys rig.
Best demo and info on the red knob twin. Thank you.
great sound and nice chops🤘
That was weird. Were you trying to steal some attention at a kid's birthday party or something?
Dad rock, bro. The kids are everywhere, haha.
This is my life too. Jam while you can 😅
I had the same twin and miss it dearly!
I made this demo when I was selling this amp. It was just too big and heavy, so I downgraded to a Princeton with a 12” speaker. I’ll definitely miss this Twin though. It sounded huge.
I’ve got one of those but I don’t play it as well. I guess I’m more of a rhythm guy. The clean channel is great and I like the yellow channel for British Invasion or garage rock sounds. The red channel gets a bit farty sounding on chords. You can also run this amp as 50w/13w by pulling out the two middle power tubes and setting the impedance to 8ohms. There’s instructions for doing this in the manual. You get a bit more early breakup doing this (almost too early with humbuckers). Effect on overall volume is slight. Also useful if you have a bad tube or something. It’s stupidly easy to bias this amp if you buy a multimeter.
First 15 second I was sold on your playing and that amp. Thanks and need more. 👍
great playing and that amp sounds like a beast
Nice playing and tone...The early yellow OD-1 Boss overdrive pedal, is Texas Sugar Strat Magic, with this late nineties iteration, of the Twin amp...8)
Nice! Just got myself the same amp, sounds excellent
Is it better then hot rod deluxe?
@@petarzutic1165 don’t know, never tried hot rod. But I can tel you the twin has some very nice reverb and tone, and gets loud as hell
Excellent sounds and playing.
