The End of Red October: The Soviet Biohazard
At the end of the Cold War, the Russian Navy, bereft of funds, abruptly decommissioned 100 nuclear powered submarines, leaving behind a massive nuclear waste disposal problem. Once the pride of the USSR, the Soviet’s fleet of nuclear submarines now lies rusting in the remote fjords of Murmansk. Now, a concerned team of engineers is tasked with cleaning up this nuclear mess.

The Day When Churchill Chose War
มุมมอง 31Kวันที่ผ่านมา
On May 28, 1940, British officials prepared to deal with Hitler. They even suggested a mediation with Mussolini. Alone against all in his war cabinet, Churchill, using his wits and cleverness, convinced his collaborators to fight. Without him, the English government would have held onto the illusion of preserving its empire, and the course of the Second World War would have been very different.
The Day When Roosevelt Chose War
มุมมอง 1.5Kวันที่ผ่านมา
On December 7, 1941, after Japan attacked the U.S. Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor, Roosevelt puts the United States into a state of war and decides to focus the main efforts not against Japan but against Germany. Elected to make peace, Roosevelt, almost alone, did everything to provoke the Japanese and launch America into war alongside the democracies. Without him, Germany would probably have won.
The Day When De Gaulle Chose War
มุมมอง 2.6Kวันที่ผ่านมา
On June 16, 1940, in Bordeaux, the Under-Secretary of State for War decides to secede and rebel openly against the policy adopted by the French legal government, preparing to ask for an armistice, by flying to the U.K. This is how a provisional general in a subordinate function became De Gaulle, leader of Free France, without whom the country would have ended the war in the camp of the vanquished.
The Day When Hitler Lost the War
มุมมอง 122Kวันที่ผ่านมา
Adolf Hitler died on April 30, 1945, marking the end of the Third Reich; a few hours later, the German Wehrmacht asked the Soviet Union's Red Army for a ceasefire. The following day, Nazi Germany capitulated. However, it was not in Berlin that the fate of the war was decided. The German defeat had been unavoidable from the day Adolf Hitler launched an attack four years earlier against the USSR.

I do not agree. Hitler could have defeated the USSR had he avoided several big mistakes, like diverting the push against Moscow to the South in 1941, terror against the people of Ukraine who viewed him as a liberator or the suicidal conquest of Stalingrad.

Was the war not started when Churchill was elected.? He certainly was convinced way before Chamberlains tragically inept attempts at diplomacy.

He chose war and got fired from his job after Gallipoli ...he chose war when he knew the Lusitania was carrying munitions and was in the past the of the UBoat and wanted it to get sunk. Then in a lucky political maneuver he got into power in WW2. The only thing impressive about Churchill was his political comeback.

Attacking the Soviet Union was the whole point of Hitler's military ambitions. The Eastern Front was not a foregone conclusion until after Stalingrad, possibly after Kursk. There were still nearly 4 million Axis troops in Soviet territory in July '43. IMO, Germany's best chance of success would have been to capture Moscow instead of the Caucasus in '42. It was much closer, and they still had the air superiority in 1942. Leningrad also falls as a result of Moscow's capture. Then negotiations began and ask for reasonable terms like the Brest-Litovsk treaty. Stalin would be giving up no more land than Lenin did in 1918.

He lost the war after his stunning victory in France. Until then he was fairly nervous, grounded, and cautiously optimistic. The planning of France was meticulous to the point of obsession. He was prepared for a real challenge. When it went better than he could have imagined he was on cloud nine. He declared that he had won the war and all that remained was to isolate England by kicking in the door of her backwards rotting ally Russia. He viewed the Red Army as a joke with leaders that wouldn’t be qualified to be NCOs in Germany. In his mind there was no reason to believe that the Eastern campaign would be just as if not shorter than the French campaign. Which is why no preparation was made for winter or the lack of fuel.

I am glad you mentioned Ukraine and the Kulaks. Stalin started the Holodomor. Hitler stopped the Holodomor. For that reason, there were many in Ukraine that allied themselves with Germany. The same goes for Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia. Putin has resumed the Holodomor.

  • @sjb3460

The Germans hated the Bolsheviks. The Bolsheviks hated the Poles. It was the Poles that stopped the Bolsheviks and saved Europe and the whole world from the Communist threat. But they forgot 2 things: the Germans hated the Poles. The Bolsheviks hated the Poles. They were between 2 enemies that hated them much more than they hated each other. Also, after WW1, there were starvation and typhus epidemics in Germany. In the countries of Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania, there was still a war being fought. The German Freicorps were doing the fighting.

  • @sjb3460

I disagree. Hitler lost the war when he declared war on France and Poland. Yes, Germany was unstoppable for 2 1/2 years but after that, it was one defeat after another. Hitler went to war 5 years before his Navy was ready, and therefore they were at a serious disadvantage from the beginning.

Germany lost the war on June 10th 1940 when Italy declared war on Britain & France. Italy would have helped Germany far more by remaining neutral. As it was, Italy contributed little to winning the war, while diverting significant German land, sea & air forces for Africa, the Balkans & Italy - forces that could have significantly altered the outcome of the war in Russia.

Look up TIK on TH-cam. he has a superb documentary called Battlestorm Stalingrad. But many other videos too. A comment on one of the videos. Halder, the head of the OKH had made the plans for the attack on the Low Countries and France. How to win ? Just take their capital city and they surrender. Hence, just take Moscow and the Russians will surrender. A bit of a miscalculation when it came to Russia.
