Just a car guy married to a car girl sharing our automotive adventures with you. We enjoy drag racing and attending local cruise nights. I drag race my 2021 Chevy Camaro LT1, and my wife occasionally runs her 2020 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye. Our most recent addition is a 1970 Dodge Challenger that was owned by my wife's parents back in the 80s. It still sports the same 440 Six Pack setup that her dad built for it. Other cars in the stable include a Mopar 22 Durango, 2010 BMW X5M, 2005 Dodge Neon, and a 2002 Corvette Z06. We always have some sort of project car in the works. Current project is a 1995 Pontiac Firebird that is getting a budget turbo 5.3 swap. On the back burner is my 05 SRT-4. Shelby Lancer#575 will get worked on one day..maybe. Slow, smooth, and 100 Proof!

In this video, I install a set of Summit Racing ceramic coated headers on a 1970 Dodge Challenger with a 440. They can be found here.

I also used a 440 Source mini starter to make the installation easier, and I had no idea how old the starter was the was on the car when purchased.

Overall, the installation was little time consuming. Hopefully you learned from some of my missteps and it saves you the rework that I needed to do. If you have any questions, please comment below.

Wow! Really cool find! I knew this car looked familiar and then I realized it’s the same are a saw on a TH-cam short!
Just got a 2004 sxt plan on big things for it
Awesome! Good luck! Nice to see people keeping Neons alive
@WhiskeyRacing hey if u know any quick and easy mods for starting out I'd love to hear them ?
Depends how much money you want to spend. I'd recommend good engine mounts, shocks/struts, and a decent set of tires to have a solid starting point.
@@WhiskeyRacing gonna try to keep most parts around 500 and just buy them when I can it needs a few things to get it running good it's really loud right now so I think It need a new exhaust of manifold something
I feel like this is downhill if hes only showing the speedometer..
Nope. If I was gonna film downhill, the 0-60! would actually be fast 😂
I have the same exact model (year/color @ 122K) and today (1/18/25) I've got an "engine malfunction reduced power" warning and idled very rough at a complete stop. This has happened a few times before but when I turned off the engine and restarted it again, it goes away. Haven't scan for codes yet but based on your experience, what do you think it could've been?
Hard to say without knowing the codes. Could be a lot of different things. I'm currently fighting a cam sensor issue. Hope you get it figured out
@@WhiskeyRacing Thanks and you're right, hard to know without the codes. Btw, do you have any recommendations for a code scanner on this particular model?
I have a Foxwell NT510 Elite that has served me well. It's around $150 on Amazon. They may even have a newer one out by now
@ thanks, i will look into that.
@ Got it diagnosed, and the results are P112F (MAP sensor), P0301 (cylinder 1 misfire) and P0304 (cylinder 4 misfire). What do you make of it?
Winter tires are more important than all of it.
If only the wheels were right.
Nice car, installing some very similar, how did you get the passenger side up, mine wants to hit the torsion bar
Put the car up on jack stands so you have more room underneath, unfortunately I do not remember how high I had it. I do remember jacking it up higher to have more wiggle room under the car to get the header at the correct angle. Undo the passenger side mount and jack up the engine. With the car high enough and the engine twisted, there is enough room to slide it between the torsion bar. It took me multiple attempts and lots of yelling. The usual it looks easy on YT lol. Thanks for watching and good luck with your project. Sorry I couldn't be more specific.
@ thank you, will give this a try.
Well, ended up taking out the torsion bar, header went right up, now the headers are installed, the torsion bar cannot be re-installed, checked motor location around 5 1/4, crank bolt to K-member. These are JEGS brand, just wondering if they are just that far off, all the bolt holes were off.
Man, sorry to hear that. I've not installed a set of the JEGS, so have no personal experience. Considering all the bolt holes were off, I would guess perhaps the entire design is off.
Yeah, have a new set coming, JEGS did rectify immediately and without question. Great group to do business with.
What about not putting the product on rubber pipes because it contains petroleum
That's a real beast 💪
Gran Turismo
Weed eater line fed through and a slight knot tied in the latter end will help pull most of the crap out. Just be careful and don't pull hard if it feels like it's caught. Don't want to damage anything
Wow somebody driving a C4 the way I drive mine
Can you show me how it looked in the bay? Thinking about buying one
The car is sitting in the corner of my garage. I haven't touched it in a while, so unfortunately I don't have a pic of it in the bay
@@WhiskeyRacingwell could you tell me what all you had to relocate besides alternator obviously. I need some help brotha
Sorry man. Car isn't put together, the crossover is on my bench along with all the other parts I gathered for the car. Hopefully by spring I get back to putting together.
Buford T Justice 🚨
Why is the 6 pack so popular?
It was the highest HP version of the 440 back in the day. Also, the cool factor of 3 carbs.
Hey. I have 2005 also. Would a 2004 motor work in it
Yes. A 2004 will work.
Let it sit 30 minutes before scrubbing
great video. like the other person, i am in the market for e70 x5s, specifically the 35d. when you put silicone on that grommet, i mumbled to myself "atta boy" lol. it's one of the few times that someone puts silicone where they should instead of where they shouldn't. i'm going to pick mine up sometime next week. the carfax shows a water leak check at a bmw dealer a few years ago (coincidentally an inoperative tailigate was checked during the same visit, tail gate still doesn't work). i'm not sure if the leak was fixed or not but i am preparing for it to not be fixed. the sunroof drains are much more complicated on the sedans. my e38 740i requires you to drop the entire headliner....
Thanks for watching! Glad you found the video helpful. Good luck with your X5!
3 years later and this video helped me find out a nasty smell that was being caused by clogged drains! Dude you're awesome! Thank you for taking the time to make this video, hope you still have the truck! Best regards from Houston, TX!
Thanks for the kind words! Much appreciated! Yes, we still have it.
Is there a way to rip out the carpet in a LT1 Camaro without damaging it? I gotta do mine but the carpet is nice, yet I can literally move the bottom of the car since it’s rusted completely through.
You can if you take your time. I did it almost 20 years ago on my 96 Formula. This carpet was shot and it came out in pieces. Good luck with your project!
@ Thanks
Keep it coming!
Thanks! I need to find some motivation and get back to the car and making content.
23 seconds flat!! lol. Love the old flatties though.
I heartily endorse this upgrade 🏁🏁
That doesn't look stock to me.
i got one for my first car not too long ago, how did you win races with an sxt? the 2.0 is so slow. do you have any tips for performance upgrades?
Not a whole lot of you're an auto. 5 SPD, the usual. Intake, exhaust, tune, cams. I bracket raced the car. Cars are given a handicap based on a predicted elapsed time. It all comes down to knowing your car and reaction time. Hope you enjoy your Neon!
This thing is sick
The oven cleaner Works better when parts/engine block is hot. Also the oven cleaner needs to sit on the parts for 6-12hrs
Glad my formula bird is a hard top😊.
I wish this one was. I had a 96 Formula hardtop back in the day.
I have a '95 Firebird and to this day, never had issues with T-Top leaks except after I replaced the driver side window 'cause it got broken, sometimes I get a leak at the top of the window right where the rubber seam of the T-Top meets the rubber of the roof but I think it's because the new window doesn't come up as far as the old one. I've NEVER had any kind of leak from the T-Top seals themselves. Keep ALL rubber surfaces coated with tire wet and you should never have any trouble. tire wet is the ONLY thing that will keep the black plastic of the cowl BLACK.
Floors are in not too bad shape for a T top car .
I was expecting worse. Thanks for watching
How do you tighten blades????????? Women friendly?❤
Even though your video is a couple years old it is still the same good information. There is no different way of fixing it than the way you did. I'm glad to see that you put down silicone. Until you pull that out I would not have believed that could have caused problems. Also you hit it out of the park with the gaskets. The reason I came across this today is that tomorrow I'm going out to look at an X5 a 2010 diesel. The amplifier is broken and a modular for the hatchback is not working. I remember a few years ago when I was looking at purchasing another X5 I came across stories about the sunroof. Believe it or not there is a company on Amazon that now sells this little kit that you can use to unclog the tubes. You have the option of doing it with the brush attachment or just the plastic piece that looks just like a weed wacker string. And if I remember it's like $10. I have more than enough weed wacker cord I used the heavier stuff so I don't think it should buckle pushing its way down the tube. I'm also going to blow some air through the line. I figure to set the compressor down to 5 or 10 PSI. I just like you I don't want to blow the tube out and then have to take half the car apart. I most definitely hit the like button and I hit the subscribe button. Almost any video I watch always get the thumbs up if I think the person making the video does know what they are talking about I'm always going to hit the subscribe button. I figure the time you put into making this video for the world at least people should subscribe to your channel. Like another TH-camr says it doesn't cost you anything to hit the like button and subscribe. I hope to see more videos from you. If you know a lot about working on BMWs people will start finding you more quickly. That seems like the hot button since there are a lot of known issues. You did pretty well with that I hope you are still at it. Good things happen to people with patients. One example is there is a person in Pennsylvania that does Porsche videos now. He actually picked it up less than a mile from my house. And we started talking back and forth. When he really got into the engine work and repairs on the Porsche his channel took off. It was about a year maybe two years before he reached the 100,000 mark. I think you have the same potential. Thanks for providing help. David
David. Thank you for the kind comments and encouragement. I'm still slowly at it, with both the X5 and TH-cam in general. Right now I'm trying to diagnose a cam sensor/wiring issue. Hope everything works out with your diesel. Thanks again for the like and subscription.
Great Video and straight to the point. Thx.😊
Thanks! Glad you found it informative.

I have a 79 Magnum and got a 6.1 hemi as well to put in it. Is it possible to get some more info on the car?
Unfortunately, I don't have any other info on the car. It just caught my eye at the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals. Thanks for watching and best of luck with your project.
Picture perfect👍👍👍
why oil for automatic gear goes to Manual?
It's what is recommended from the manufacturer
Hi Whiskey, In trying to replace my radiator I've now seen 10 YT videos, and you are still the best by far. I've bought two replacement rads and both seemed defective to me. Now I'm waiting for number 3! The second came out of the box with one of the ABS heater hose nipples broken clean off. The first came with drain plugs only for the auto transmission connectors, and not the solid plugs as pictured on the web site description. The main reason for my entry here is to caution fellow Corvette DIY mechanics about what I ran into- and was not talked about at all on any of the TEN videos..... THE BIG HOOK AT the bottom of the rad, next to the drain cock. It wraps around the condenser pipe leading to that very vulnerable part!!! In trying to lift out the rad I could feel something VERY solid holding on to the bottom of the rad. In going after taking out the fan assembly I saw the problem.. and had that "Holy SH@T" moment! I was able to carefully lift the pipe clear of the hook- while under the car. After that the rad came out fairly easily. My fear now is after I get everything put back together I may have damaged the condenser pipe or its weld at the bottom of the condenser. If I did it would mean an expensive trip to a real Corvette tech. SO, WATCH OUT FOR THAT HOOK PRIOR TO REMOVING THE RADIATOR !!!
Good tip! Hopefully you got your Vette back together with no collateral damage from the removal.
I daily mine
Hell yeah!!! God Bless ya!

140 couple. Guy I bought it off only put on about 500 in 5 years. He was an older gentleman and had trouble getting in and out of the car.
260k on my daily. Maintenance is key
Absolutely.
😂 i was sitting here watching thinking he better hammer down after talking. I was not disappointed.
Redline a day keeps the mechanic away...or whatever that saying is 😂

Shoulda been doin 150!
No point in buying a car just to look pretty. Drive that fuckin thing😂
