This is to all of Hugh’s family, friends who lovingly took the time out of their lives to be close to, feed, change him, in the normal world doing these kind things would be difficult but when done for a loved one nothing else stands in your way. I know I was with my mom till she died of this hideous disease. Love to all the family.😊

My mother who unfortunately has recently passed had severe Alzheimer's, she couldn't speak or feed herself etc so I would take her for rides in my car and play all her favorite music she loved Fleetwood Mac, Bob seger, America, Lynyrd Skynyrd. Soon as we drive off I'd start playing her music and she would look at me and she would just cry out of happiness 🤍 and she would grab my hand and kiss it. Music was truly the only thing that made my mama remember and make her feel happy and safe, I put 30,000 miles on my new car in six months.. I will never forget those times I have so many wonderful videos of her clapping and dancing to her music 🎵🎶 anyone that has a loved one suffering from Alzheimer's or dementia definitely try to play their music for them!!! I miss you mama, our Beautiful Bonnie ✨🤍✨

My husband also was diagnosed with early onset vascular dementia at the age of 59. He never forgot who any of us were but it affected him in so many other ways. He was raised in the church and sung in gospel groups his whole life. He never forgot the words to any of those songs. He passed last year at the age of 69.

Hugh passed away after receiving a diagnosis of Young Onset Alzheimer's Disease. He was 61. He is survived by his two sons, Dillon and Max, his wife Beth, who he loved since he was just 15, 9 brothers and sisters, 18 brothers and sisters-in-law, and a vibrant family of nieces, nephews, and their children. RIP Hugh, and bless his beautiful family.

Unfortunately, my wife is only 57, she started in 2015 but we didn't get a diagnosis until Feb 2021. She is in memory care now as I'm not retired and also she needs 24/7 care. The sadness and grief is unbelievable, I cherish every moment with her, she still recognizes me, but has the mentality of, well, sometimes a 3 year old. She is far further along than he was in this video. She has poor language skills and mostly only says yes or no but still surprises me with semi sentences. Also, my wife loves music and she may mumble along, but tries to sing. Often I just take for long rides listening to music, no words between us, as I hold her hand. I take her to beautiful places.

I truly am sorry that you lost Hugh so young. Alzhemiers takes a person's mind and leaves a stranger who is lost forever. I lost my mother, 2 aunts and a great aunt to this insidious disease. My mother forgot she had been married and had no memory of me as her daughter. We always laughed over that. You as his family gave him all the love and support possible. Beautiful memories.

LIFE can be really scary sometimes! I've always been a very energetic person and love my music from singing in the car on my way to and from work and the shower and last week the doctors gave me a real scare when they said I have an early form of Alzheimer's disease! I said it can't be! I'm only 47 year old.. what the heck am I going to do the rest of my life! They said we have to be honest with you and said by the time I'm 49 i will almost no memories of my past! So I guess soon I will be a burden on society, and my wife of over 20 years and my two 17 year old daughter's.. or I should say I'll be about worthless...
