Jakob Sahner is a 23 year old German astrophotographer who came into contact with the fascination of space early in his childhood. Very early he began to make projects with image and video editing programs and after graduating from high school he completed an apprenticeship as a photo and media technical assistant. The subject has grabbed him like an addiction although he had no knowledge about this hobby. He just wanted to do it and try it out! In the now more than 4 years he has become a worldwide known astrophotographer and has developed his skills from normal landscape astrophotography to deepsky photography.

This trip was truly one of the highlights of my astrophotography career -easily in my top 5! After a 4-hour drive, I arrived at one of the darkest locations in Germany, nestled right on the border with Austria in the majestic Alps. Over three unforgettable nights under pristine Bortle 2/3 skies, I was immersed in a breathtaking experience I’ve dreamed about for years. As I’ll mention in the vid...

In this video I tried my best to photograph Comet 13P/Olbers as good as possible. Capturing the milkyway in the black forest national park

This was the night before the big aurora show at the 10th May. Unbelievable how we got so lucky with the weather despite having the worst weather in years! In this video I went out to seek the darkest skies in our local area and it was a blast! A once in a lifetime moment?! Capturing the Aurora Borealis in Germany
What a show.... On May 10th, we witnessed the strongest geomagnetic storm in 21 years, and it brought us strong naked eye-visible aurora borealis reaching as far south as the Canary Islands and as far north as Namibia! This truly could be a once-in-a-lifetime moment for some people. We can consider ourselves very lucky that most of Europe had very good or usable conditions to observe this spect...
Back under the stars | Capturing the MILKYWAY in late summer!
Its been a while... After heaving an astrobreak due to work, real life and some sort of slight "astro-burnout" Im finally back outside and it felt amazing! In this video I went to a hidden pond in the middle of the black forest to capture the milkyway and the stars. I needed some time to get back into it but in general it felt like I never had a break :^) I hope you enjoy this video and the res...

Landscape Astrophotography with a 40MM LENS
After a long period of cloudy weather, we have been blessed with clear skies just in time for the worst time of the year very close to summer solstice. The nights are very short and late, but I took advantage of this opportunity to go out and photograph the Milky Way on a local mountain in my dark sky site. The wind didn't make things easier, but you can see that in the video! [You want to supp...
Is the new NOISE REDUCTION AI from adobe good for ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY?
Adobe, the company behind popular software programs like Photoshop and Lightroom, has recently introduced a new AI-powered noise reduction feature within the Camera RAW module of both applications. This is Adobe's first step into the realm of AI-driven noise reduction, and while it has shown promise, the results can be inconsistent. I have encountered impressive results with the tool but on the...

Perseids Meteor Shower (2020) on La Palma - LIVE FOOTAGE
We might’ve been shooting the same night cuz I got crazy amount of green airglow and the comet was at same position, great video & deep space details!
Bro, what's about Geminids meteor shower ???
Einfach nur wow! Mach weiter so, die Ergebnisse sind unglaublich...
At 22:36 in the video, you mentioned a new panoramic head that you are using and how much you like it. Would you tell us what you are using, please? Your photography is very inspiring!
Hi Jakob, Geniale Aufnahmen, super Video und tolle Location 😀👍🏻
Fantastic vlog, beautiful images, and lots of meteors as a gift, thank you for sharing this adventure! Clear sky🌌🤞🏼
that is the most amazing thing I have ever seen
Wow! What an awesome night, Jakob! Well deserved clear skies after years!
This remembers me of my nights on Pic du Midi in France Alps...stars OVER the clouds...great mood!
Really really enjoy seeing your astro vlogs, will your online pano course be PC or MAC software based?
Doesn't really matter, all the programs I use are available for PC and Mac (except for one, but its not necessary)
@ many thanks Jakob
You nailed it, bro! 🤟🏼🔥 the sky is crazy clear & dark, I feel so envious rn 🥲
Wooow... one of the best vlogs this year and to think that this is just part 1 :D. Man, I'm so happy for you that you got this chance, because I know how small the odds are that everything you need works in your favour. And the quality of vlog and the images was just on a next level. Congratulations! Btw which star glow filter do you use? I remember a trick in PI from your tutorials on Patreon, but this effect feels a bit different?
I use the kenko pro1d prosofton clear 82mm to be exact, it creates such a nice effect! Also that you so much for the feedback - the second vlog will be pretty much the same just for the last two nights so stay tuned ;)
Wow, that was definitely up there in the top best astro vlogs I've seen this year!
Thank you so much my friend!!!
Very cool!!! I know exactly that place on the LP4.... Very seamless cut in this clip!!! 🥰👍
Wow so many incredible shots! I've been meaning to spend a night in the Alps for years. That's going to be high up on my bucket list for next year.
I will defenitely repeat this trip! There are so many hidden gems in the alps, and all that with the best skies!
Fantastic video, Jakob. That has to be my favorite kind of Astro-night. Beautiful mountains, proper solitude and stunningly dark skies. 👌 Awesome images - those 360s are 🤯.
Thank you! :^)
Thanks for taking us with you! You do really cool work! BTW: I'm also hating the moon 😅 and find the German forests scary at night🤣
Sehr schön. keep it up
Crazy!!! I aspire to reach your level one day!🥰
A3 is in the background at 12:00!
A really beautiful landscape and night sky. The images are wonderful, such amazing work! Clear skies mate!
What an amazing Astro-Vlog and great photos! The skyglow was really insane that night, even in the "Schwarzwald", where I set up my equipment.
Danke dir mein Freund :D
Absolutely stunning quality astro vlog. You made me want to take my backpack and go to those places. You need make turn that a job! Clear skies Jakob!
Thank you very much man! Making this my full time job would be a dream but I think I'm to lazy for the business side...
@jakobsahner I hope you can make this a full time job. You deserve it ❤️
Love it, especially the Gegenschein. Sehr gut!!
Danke dir Marina :^)
Best video!! Awesome
I wanna see space in person so badly
Nice video, beautiful images for the milky way and the meteors. Sometimes i also make photos of the night sky with my Canon 6D from the alps in Italy.
Love this video dude - keep up the great work! I'd also be super interested in an editing tutorial for these stunning images 😁
i see a lot of astrograph youtube channels, i like that your spending a lot of time discussing the trip planning
Thanks alot man!
At 12.15min into your video, what plate is your camera sitting on please?
I think you mean the V Bracket from Move Shoot Move?
@@jakobsahner is this what you’re camera is attached to ?
Great video, Jakob - and nice work getting to the top of that mountain, which looked like hard work! Enjoyed coming along for the ride and the images were superb. Thanks for sharing. 👌
The hike was pretty hard, especially considering that I dont go to the gym or do any kind of regular sports activity haha
Thanks for taking the time to take us with you. Love the videos! Despite the thunderstorms I think you managed to get some great results. The pano's turned out really nice.
Thank you my friend!
Love your videos! Keep them coming! 😊 CS
Besten Dank :D
Nice photos. Have you seen the Polarlicht as well during the peak of Perseids? It reached Bavaria during the night of Aug 12
Well as mentioned in the video - during the peak we had strong thunderstorms so there was no way to go out. (I could have drove 2hrs north to get a better chance) Maybe in 2026 I have more luck, or I travel somewhere clear and dark
Really nice one :D I also appreciate that you are / were quite active with vlogging in the past few months. Images are of course great, at least for my taste you always hit home on how much to push the postprocessing and at the same time it looks perfectly natural
Thank you very much Matej! That's what im aiming for during post processing :^) I hope to keep these vlogs coming on a regular basis in the future!
so what is it that will replace your ball head for a better polar alignment???
Im not sure about that yet...
Nice! What app is that? 😊 I'm considering buying a sigma 40 1.4f as my first astro lens and I believe it will be great for street and travel as well.
The 40mm is amazing! Its hard to beat this lens in terms of performance. I think the app you mean is photopills (where I check the position of the MW)
@@jakobsahner unfortunately it is big and heavy ;/ thanks!
I liked the milky way shot even with the LP! Looks nice!
Love the video man. Would love to see how you edited this!!
Great images. What camera did you use to shoot this video??
I use the first generation sony a7s to shoot all my videos at night. With some added noise reduction it can produce very clean shots!
No need to downplay anything :D images are fantastic. Hope we will see meteor shower vlog too.
I have done some vlogging in the 2 nights I was out so I might produce one yeah :D
Great images and thanks for bringing us along for the journey, Jakob. You did very well to pull that detail out of the comet tail when it was down in all that mess on the horizon! Ha ha, I can relate to the “give me a massive fireball” pleading!!
Bro What's a wonderful video! 🙌
I like the light pollution on the milkyway shot, gives it more atmosphere
Sometimes its not bad thats right!
Super relaxing video! Nice adventure. Despite the haze and the red lights the shots turned out really well I think.
Thanks you my friend!
Thank you Jakob, for your amazing work! It's always a pleasure to watch your videos. Keep up the great work!
I will try my best to keep it up! Lets hope the weather wont get worse in the coming months...
Very cool ❤
