Gardening with COPD
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 27 เม.ย. 2021
I have COPD and am trying to do the things I can do without worrying about what I can no longer do.
COPD is a lung disease. It affects my ability to breathe in and out like a normal person. I sometimes struggle for air and this makes normal things not so normal.
I like being outside. I used to enjoy long walks in the forest but no longer go on long walks.
What I can do is do some gardening!?
Join me as I video myself doing various yard and garden projects.

You are welcome
Wow, that's quite the garden. Alot of variety is there. Keep up the good work ❤
Thanks Anne!
Good job Brother 😊❤ Congratulations 😊
Thank you so much 😀
@@gardeningwithcopd YOU are very welcome. We are in Texas and we were flooded and now it's Hot. 97 degrees. Our garden is not doing too good. But thanking GOD for the rain bc we were in a severe drought. GOD bless you Brother.
@@melindaroth5796@ melindaroth5796 I'm so sorry to hear about the garden. Our spring started wet but no rain now. It will be 95 here (NC) tomorrow, slightly less today. The heat is normal for summer but the no rain part is not normal. I hope things get better for you and TX.
@@gardeningwithcopd Thank you Allan.
Good Luck with the channel I am proud to be you one hundredth subscriber. I am impaired as well and just doing my best to keep my garden going.
Thanks! Welcome to the channel.
Allan, You are quite rhe gardener. Those Tidy Cat buckets sure come in handy. Enjoyed the video ❤👍
Thanks 👍 I can't use all the buckets but I use many of them.
Great job Allan. You really have red dirt down in NC. Enjoyed watching. Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks Anne. More to come!
I like the set up. Hope it works out for you.
Thank you.
@@gardeningwithcopd You're welcome.
Wow, you're right. They are massive. Another great video ❤
Big thanks Anne!
Can't wait to eat.

Looks amazing 😊 All the rain apparently made them flourish.
@@Momtocam1997 I always plant the largest cloves from the largest bulbs. Each year they a bigger than the last. Having all that rain certainly helped.
Can't that wagon fit two?
Absolutely it can. However, I have COPD and will have difficulty pulling it up the hill. Thanks for watching!
COPD is no joke, dude. I am amazed the creator of this video is even able to do what He does.
@@mallinen0777 Thanks. I try to do the best I can, even if it takes me a little longer to do than it should. Thanks for watching.
As always Allan, I love your videos. I hope you have a successful strawberry patch and sweet too. I wish I lived closer to help you. I enjoy working outdoors ❤
Thanks Anne, that is so nice of you. Looking forward to next year to try a strawberry. I will pinch off all flowers and runners this year so the roots will get strong and established. I need to show you my new Rhubarb patch I put in.
I was looking for how does it work actually in physics there was a topic lever according to that this spade comes in under class 1 leve where fulcrum is in between
Diging is hard work but the right tools can make it easier. Thanks for watching and good luck!
I remember you worked so hard on your garden last year and you grew some dynamite garlic. Hope you have a successful garden this year. Love your gardening videos ❤
So nice of you, Thank you Anne. The garlic is almost ready to pick! A lot earlier this year.
Any chance you'll do a spring update?
After your inquiry, I have given it much thought and I will make a update. Many changes to the setup.
@@gardeningwithcopd I will try to keep an eye out.
Very interesting video. I am working in my vegetable garden with digging shovel like you. But exist very small difference. You can see this difference on my videos. th-cam.com/video/kmnjEOthrlE/w-d-xo.html (see links below video) .
That's a great experiment, I'm going to give it a try,but going to use mulch since I planted the fern in south carolina zone.
How did it go?
Nice job.
Thank you.
I don't know how o missed this one
Well, I am behind on comments. New video incoming.
@@gardeningwithcopd looking forward to them
Does it matter if garlic is cured right side up or upside down? Will elephant garlic flowers produce "seeds" like other hardneck varieties will or are they small like an onion seed?
I just watched a video that recommended right side up to allow any nutrients left in the stem to flow into the bulb.
For me, I can not tell any difference. I have never grown elephant garlic but I would like to try to.
We had two ant beds near the back yard creek area…around where the motorcycles are parked. Killed them with white vinegar.
I will have to look into that. Thanks Lisa.
Nice harvest. Wish I lived closer to buy some of you fresh vegetables
Maybe one day! Thanks Anne.
Hey Mr. 🐢 What do you feed him?
As you can see he eats plenty but he forages on his own.
OH! Ok I always wondered what they ate. Thank you so much for answering me 😊👍
@@nadine.lipslocs3154 Turtles do eat a wide variety of things from plant leaves and fruit and even insects and grubs.
Nice to meet you Mr. Turtle 🐢
He isn't afraid. I had to film 2x because I didn't hit record! LOL
Wow, that's a lot of garlic. I love garlic. Great job Allen . Love your videos ❤
It's the best my garlic has done. Thanks Anne!
Great job BROTHER. Thank you for sharing. Anything we can grow ourselves is very healthy and nutritious

Exactly what I needed to see, thanks so much for this. Every time I look up how to till soil it's always a guide on using an electric tiller.
Glad it was helpful. 😁
I am so glad to hear. This is a popular video. My garden is now 4 years old. I have so much to learn still. Thanks for watching. Subscribe to the channel.
Thanks for posting Allan. I enjoyed it 🎉
Good to hear. Thanks for watching :)
HI Allan, so happy your still here. Bless your heart. Those gophers are terrible. Hardware cloth under your garden will stop that. FATHER GOD BLESS YOU Allan and your family in JESUS NAME 🙏 ❤ Love yall ❤
Thanks. Those rodents are all over the property. Last year we had cicada and now the grubs are everywhere. Some rodents are feasting on the grubs while others are after my garden.
@@gardeningwithcopd awe I'm so sorry 😞 we have raccoons and squirrels and the list goes on. I will be praying for yall and us. Have a great weekend.

Yes😊
This is a simple video but so valuable to me, a garden newbie. I escaped the city last Fall and moved to the country. I have no idea how to begin a garden. New tillers are so expensive and look awkward to operate. Can I at 70 till a large garden by myself, by hand? I bought all these seeds this week and a large bag of seed potatoes and a shovel. The rains have stopped for a while and the ground is soft like yours. I just came in from digging my first ten rows of earth! I am so proud. I am so happy. I am so excited to have my first garden! Thank you for this video which gave me the courage to try. The soil was so cooperative, almost like it is excited too!!
This is fantastic! You did it. I am proud of you for taking this action. It is good exercise and a lot of work but can be rewarding. Now you can grow your own food. Yes! Thanks for sharing this with me. Best of luck and keep gardening, Allan Gardening with COPD
Well done on your new garden!
@@Sam-747 Thank you
But fern may get a fungus or insects...from these leaves... Better u cld take it inside home or kept in a box or someother way but covering with leaves can make plant get fungus
Interesting. That could be true. I tried in the garage and also unprotected outside and both of those died for me. Thanks for watching.
Did it work?
Thanks for watching. You should check out part 2. th-cam.com/video/Y4NBHMycPYA/w-d-xo.html
Congratulations! Your beautiful fern made it! What zone are you in? I’m right on the 5b/6a line. Wondering if this would work here.
Thanks, it's still growing today in zone 7. It's worth a try. All you need is a big pile of leaves to insulate it from the cold. It got down to -14f for a few days here.
Thank you for sharing! Can't wait to try it.
Zombie fern round 2 this time out in the cold
I've never had one make it through the winter unprotected.
Wow, that's quite a garden you have. You did a great job and you're keeping Lynne happy with to okra
Thanks Anne. 😁
I'm so happy to have a freezer full of OKRA! Thank you Allan.
You are so very welcome, Lynne.
Very interesting. Thanks for the information 🐜

@@gardeningwithcopd hi Allen you are truly welcome my friend. ❤🌱❤
That's quite a garden you have. Must take a lot work to maintain it. You're doing a great job Allan. Sorry to hear of all the insects invading your crop.
Thanks Anne, I did the hard part already with the digging. I go out at least 2x a day to hunt squash bugs and now other bugs too. I already have ideas to improve for next year.
Did y’all grow melons last year?
I did try, however some animal ate the good part of the 1 melon that did grow. I did not have a fence then nor did I have raised beds. I have picked several already this year.
Looking good..
Thanks 👍
Looking good
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow, they yuge. Looking good Allan 👍❤
Thanks Anne. :)
So very proud of you.
Thanks, I can't wait to have them on a plate.
Your tomatoes look awesome
Thank you Monika.
Wow, it takes 3 years to grow. I did not know that.
Most buy 1 year old roots to save time. By waiting an extra year, I saved $25 and gained experience.
Good job Farmer Allen 👍. Keep the videos coming. O enjoy watching 👀
Thanks Anne, will do!
We got an inch of rain this morning..sure was welcomed..our grass was beginning to turn brown. Checked on our vegetables on Sunday..all doing great..we pulled more radishes, banana peppers, and squash. Got two cherry maters…
Nice haul. I may have first tomatoes this week, maybe?
