Thanks so much! This run was a lot of work. What is crazy is that there is a full second of time on the table still with the R2 tree bounce. I set a 1'16"02 with suboptimal boost in the stream I set this run earlier and is what I was really aiming for. The USA times are much higher due to the programmers never re-adjusting the clock across the PAL and NTSC formats for the USA versions. Sorry, I reinstalled the game last night to check but looks like Steam cloud never saved anything. The easiest way to cut down time on this course is to manage the battery. You can't just hold the button down as it takes too long to fully charge. I was tapping the button until the engine revs were high enough to hold the cars speed out of corners. I think I used a combination of a lower rear wing and gear ratios to accomplish this.

I don't play as much as I used to. But I would say iRacing for the pool of drivers in multiplayer but I know it can be expensive. Assetto Corsa Competizione is the next best thing and would be my suggestion for someone who wants to just hop in and drive.@@MsPablokaos

Thanks! Quick question, if you were to order the routes, how would you rank them from easiest to hardest? I probably wouldn't have attempted Goal A first if I knew it was on the higher end of the difficulty starting out.

In this game, there is a 10 mph top speed difference between using the automatic (682mph) and the manual (692mph) option. In the first route alone there is a 1.5 in game second time loss. Multiply that by 30 and you're looking at nearly a 45 second in game time loss for a full run using the automatic. I'm not sure if it's that big of a difference running the JP or EU version of the game. Basically the US port of this game is a cheap hack job. The JP rom is the original game running with a working clock, the EU/PAL version was slowed down to 50fps and had the timer adjusted, but the devs seemed to have taken the PAL version and sped it back up to 60fps for the US without slowing the game clock back down so the timer for the US version is crazy fast. There is also a trick with the manual option where you can downshift and upshift to not lose momentum off-road. It's kind of like gear gacha in the main Outrun series except it's only useful in a handful of situations. You can see where I downshift/upshift at 5:23 and 17:30 to not lose any moment from losing boost over grass/water and immediately get boost when I get back on the road. You can only do this when losing boost, you can't just do this whenever you feel like it like with the original Outrun.

@@floridone_ I've had the game since I was around 5 which helps. There isn't really any kind of guide or anything that anyone has written like on GameFAQs. There are even some secret areas in the game that I haven't seen anyone talk about. Such as the stage 4 side paths that can be found in route 2 and route 8 which are marked by road signs that I thought were just decoration as a kid. You activate them by driving hard left or right at the signs and the car turns to them. I highly suggest that anyone getting started with running this game to watch "dong10"'s runs of this game on the JP leaderboards at speedrun.com. His old runs are how I learned about the fact that the shifter trick is in this game, as well as the stage 2/route 5 secret path. Dong10 was ahead of his time with his pathing, he just used the shifter trick to the point of detriment since it is always faster to work toward rocket boost.

@@ThatguyLFS2 Wow! Have you figured out the mechanic on what keep you boosted on hitting something? I feel like I don't get near that level of luck, you hit it like 5 times and kept boost.

Thank you, I'm finding that braking somewhere by the turn posts, it can be timed to be able to complete the turn going into R2 with boost so you get a faster R1 time.

Your R2 is still insane. I think the R4 bridge is easier to deal with than the RNG in R2, LOTS of room on the table in R2 for me at least.
