This Enchanted Forest Will Make You Feel Like an Ant
Cathedral Grove is an ancient forest that is home to giant douglas fir and western red cedar trees. These mammoths are some of the oldest trees on Vancouver Island, yet they are very accessible from a short boardwalk trail, just off the highway. As a result, this is a must-do hike for anybody travelling between Victoria and Tofino or Ucluelet. I hope that you enjoy this short video!

Hiking the Pacific Rim Traverse Along Sandy Beaches
มุมมอง 652 ปีที่แล้ว
The Pacific Rim Traverse hiking trail begins on Vancouver Island near Ucluelet and traces north along many different sandy beaches towards Tofino. This point-to-point trail offers great opportunities to see wildlife including bears and bald eagles, as well as the rugged and unique pacific beaches of BC's Pacific Rim National Park. The trail immediately takes you along the boardwalk to Half Moon...
Avalanche Safety Training AST2 Ski Trip at Ymir Hut in the Kootenays
มุมมอง 1302 ปีที่แล้ว
In January, my buddy and I flew into Kelowna and drove down to Nelson for a 5-day Avalanche Safety Training Level 2 (AST2) course with Peak Stratagem. From Nelson, we took a heli southeast to Ymir Lodge in the Kootenays. That served as our base camp as we ski toured for 4 days while improving and practising our skills for safe travel in avalanche terrain. On the 5th and final day, we drove to K...
Another Shoe Sacrificed to the Bog 🥾 | Backpacking the Algonquin Western Uplands Trail
มุมมอง 412 ปีที่แล้ว
On the June 25-26th weekend, I joined two friends on their backpacking trip to the Algonquin Western Uplands Trail, Ontario. We enjoyed clear skies and warm lakes on our hike, although my one buddy's shoe enjoyed the boggy lowlands a bit too much... It was a member of our party's first backpacking trip and Site #4 on Pincher Lake was his home for the night with Dan's borrowed gear. The campsite...
Overnight at Stormhaven on the Bruce Peninsula
มุมมอง 1.4K3 ปีที่แล้ว
We drove into Tobermory then backpacked Bruce Peninsula National Park from West to East and platform camped on Georgian Bay at Stormhaven (SH2). The forecast called for rain on both Saturday and Sunday, but we lucked out and enjoyed the sun on day one. We only got rain on the first evening once we were comfortable in our tents. On day two, the clouds lingered and we saw the peninsula from a glo...

Algonquin Highland Trail Marathon

On November 8th, my buddy and I decided to trail run the Algonquin Highland Trail, adding an additional 6km to bring it up to a Marathon distance.

La Cloche Silhouette Trail in Four Days
is it OK to cook on that open fire? (i'm not familiar with your cooking method with the liquid fuel) is it a potential fire hazard or legal? What are you cooking with? I am planning a trip there and don't know anything about lightweight cooking methods.

i have been trying to plan this exact hike! from niagra through to tobermory but i cannot figure out a way around the camping situation, everyone tells me that i cannot camp along the way..if you still are on this account could you please tell me how you did it ? or suggest what i could do.thanks in advance :)
Hey there! The camping situation is tricky not just because there aren't enough overnight rest areas, but due to lack of water if you get hot weather. You can try stealth camping if you practice strict Leave No Trace principles. There are also some paid campgrounds along the way such as Hope Bay (the owners are friendly). Finally, if you're in a pinch, try the CouchSurfing app. The good news is the Bruce Trail Conservancy intends to put more effort into making it friendlier for thru-hikers: www.guelphtoday.com/local-news/bruce-trail-aiming-to-be-thru-hikeable-by-2030-ceo-8417865 I hope this helps!
@@BorealTrails thank you i appreciate it!
Wow, they’re huge!! 🌳
I did it in nine days. Just took my time to enjoy the ambiance. This is as good as Backpacking gets😅
Longes d_
GET STICKBUGGED LOL **bss music starts playing**
I want one
"Stick bugs are shifty creatures." "These animatronics can get quirky at night."
Get stick bugged lol
Lovely trail ASMR. I want to do this trail! What site number was that where you have to grab the rope to get water at? I maybe dont want to book that one 😂😉
That would be H38! The booking said "steep water access" but somehow I was still surprised by the rope hahaha. In general though, La Cloche has phenomenal campsites.
@BorealTrails good to know! I will make a note of this. My friend who may come do the trail with me is partially paralyzed so I don't think she can get water there
@@musingwithreba9667 It's a tricky spot for sure. Enjoy your trip, you'll both love this trail!
Growable legs cool
It actually looks like a sticky stick
What if it loses all of its legs..
Would that make it a stick? 🤔
I once met one and he wanted to fight me 🥲
I had bees to fight him
Ay that’s me
🤯
Get Stickbug!

Just like the stick bug challenge in bee swarm!
Get stickbugged lol
... what are we waiting for in the video
I dunno man, I just really like pole planting.
@@BorealTrails oh
Hey great video, did you find the bootleggers caves near cave point? (Not on any trail map) our family has hiked halway log dump to the grotto before and missed them not realizing they are there. Going to take my daughter on her first backcountry camping trip to stormhaven this year and hope to find them this time around.
Thank you for your support! I didn't know that Bootlegger's Cave existed but I'll have to look for it next time I'm on the Bruce Peninsula. I appreciate the info. I'm sure your daughter will have a blast as that's an amazing choice for a first backcountry camping trip. Enjoy!
Definitely adding this trail to my list!
lol, the Bugles
#stickbugged
lmao gottem
My aunt just moved in her new home on 10 acres of land and she is NOT a big fan of bugs and she sees stick bugs everywhere and she HATES them. But she would like to know if they can fly cause if they can then she will never come outside 😂.
Not all stick bugs can fly but for the species that can, they rarely do fly. The good news is that they're harness to humans! 😅

Someone linked this on a reddit thread about lightweight cooking stoves - came for that, but stayed for the awesome chilled out hiking and trails. Thanks!
Thank you so much for commenting! I'm really glad that you enjoyed this video. 🙂
Cute!!!! </3
A very interesting creature indeed.
We also have been there in 2020. It was a great experience.
Wow this is so awesome!
Planning this trip next September, how did the xmid hold up in the weather? I hear the footprint is pretty large any trouble finding a place to pitch, I couldn't tell if it was the 1P or 2P.
@@BorealTrails thanks for the response , great video! Saved a few of your videos to check out as well , we have have very similar hiking styles gear. I'm planning to do an end-to-end of the Bruce Trail in the future.
Nice video, Thomas! You found some really beautiful areas on your hike. 🌿
One of the most beautiful & rugged places l've ever been, it will always have a place in my heart. Spent many nights in the log cabin (" stom haven") that was there until about 1994, winter & summer. Beautiful footage but sad that there's no storm haven at storm haven anymore. Cheers & happy trekkin
When did you hike it? Which sites did you stay at? Lessons learned?
You think it could mostly be done on a mountain bike?
No
Yes
Love this video. Thinking about doing the full Bruce this August. Any advice about costs/finding places to stay? I understand it’s hard to camp the whole way.
How early in May was this? Seems like a lot of snow for the spring!
well done. thanks for posting
Impressive video, and quite an accomplishment. Any issues with 'stealth' camping?
Good Times Thomas! Great Song Too
Great video I love the Bruce Trail. How long did it take to do end to end.
Nice video! Would you recommend the trail counterclockwise as you did?
I did it clockwise. NICE!
