Peter Pan Macy's Parade

The Broadway Cast of PETER PAN (including myself) performs UGH-A-WUG on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I remember how thrilling it was but what a FREEZING day it was also! I'm in the fur piece in the center dance group during the "canon" dance section. Sandy Duncan is Peter Pan.

Not even remotely close to the quality of Ethel Waters' voice.
nah really like their acting their not suppose to have the same voice as ethel waters
P
I know it has no particular plot relevance and this aspect of his character doesn’t come up again but who could have it in their heart to cut such a sweet number 😢 This has gotta be… what, Todd Lester?
Love Todd! This is actually Dennis Courtney (the uploader). I believe he was a swing, not sure if he took over caboose in the end or just covered here, but he’s definitely great singer
Do you have the full 1979 Parade?
I've always said the movie should be remade :)
The film should have been made in the 1950s with some star like Doris Day and following the plot closely instead of that absurd 1970 "recriation"
Well, Dennis. It sure looks fantastic. I mean, it was yourself along with Maria Pogee and Sandy Duncan, as well as Marsha, Alex, Jonathan, Carl, Chris, Michael, Joey and Rusty, Cleve, Reed (RIP), Sharon, Maggy, Jim, Kevin, C. J., and Kevin, dancing in cold weather in front of Macy's. P.S. Congratulations on being in "Dreamcoat" twice. (1977 and 1984)
Anyone else came here from Musical Hell?
Ya caught me :)
The only problem I have with this rendition of Wide Smile is that lacks the fast-paced energy of the others. Gotta love that split though.
From all the performances I've been able to find of Caboose, this has got to be one of my favorites! Can't go wrong with the split 👌
this has got to be the best!
Soundboard audio!!!!
AWWW I LOVE HOW HE GIVES HER A LITTLE WAVE AT THE END 💕
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
DinahxCaboose
I think that was Frankie Maio as Caboose. Michael Demby Cain as Electra.
WHY WAS THERE NO APPLAUSE AT THE END, this song is the best from the show!!
more great productions - choreography included! (and i bet you didn't do Fiddler like the movie either - ruined that one song - "Do you love me?"
just saw you directed this and other things - allllll riiiighht!!!! You are freakin' fantastic - you must've been on Broadway in your last life LOL big kiss - mwah!!!!
Yes, several Broadway shows. THANKS!!
yea! found another one - my dad sang this, too. the second guy, Jake. . . :} this is a great production!!!
So then your dad was Robert Penn! I've loved this show and the cast album all my life. I've even met an original cast member, dancer Stu Hodes, now well into his 90's!
@@kennethwayne6857 hi Kenneth!!!! my gosh! someone actually knows who my Dad was!! i loved Paint Your Wagon. :) thank you soo much for writing me a note. i do hope you’ve seen a revival somewhere. and i’m glad you met someone in the show :) i live in New York. where are you? 🎭🌷🌱
@@feralbluee Alexa, thanks for responding! I am in Brooklyn, New York, have been all my life and being a theater person I am very lucky to be near a town that's the center of it all. I waited a very long time to see a stage production of 'Wagon' but finally did a few years back at Encores!, and thank goodness, it was done by people who had respect for the original show and with the original script. Today, more often than not they take it upon themselves to write a new script for it and I'm sure the results are much worse. What can I say, I'm a purist. I'm sure I heard your Dad in something else, was it the Rodgers and Hammerstein Cinderella? 'The Prince is Giving a Ball'? I used to study to sing that myself, I'm a performer as well. Gonna have to look that up. Great hearing from you!
OMG - thank you so much - this is so very real - just like the show. my dad, Robert Penn, was in this scene - Jake. And real Broadway dancin' !!! Fabulous!!!!!!! Dennis, i am madly in love with you :}
i love it
I'M NOT CRYING YOU'RE CRYING
i love this song!!!! i can't imagine starlight express without red caboose!!!!
This is the best version of this song that I have ever heard. These guys ROCK!
Great!
This is the first Broadway show I ever saw! It was July 1980 at the Lunt Fontanne. I loved it. It has lived in my memory ever since.
I've seen the film version of "Paint Your Wagon". I didn't find it all that great. First off, hiring non-singers and then not even dubbing them was a big mistake. Eliminating the bulk of the score and replacing it with lower-grade songs wasn't that great an idea either. Even though the original libretto had some problems, it's still miles better than the rewritten libretto for the film.
I guess the verse of the song sung in Chinese by the Chinese miner would be considered too racist now.
Hi Dennis love this- who's on for CB??. sounded like Steven Shultz??- he was one of the only ones who could do all those flips and tricks.... wasnt todd??- wow- oh sooo long ago- we celebrated our 25th Starlight express- german company- still rolling along!!!- thanks 4 posting- we components rocked
there's a film version and a stage version of "Paint Your Wagon"
who sang this?
That held and sustained note on the violin as the women exited the coach....I don't know if that was in the original score, but very effective. Fantastic scene!
Excellent, great job!!!
i wish this was better looking
Red Caboose rocks!
Dennis you did a great job, i love that movie
The film version of "Paint your wagon" is fantastic. I think Amazon has it on CD.
deep kiss, dip, grab banjo...
I was always wondering how they'd sing לחיים in the Hebrew version... Always nice to watch something in another language and understand it!
Hi Dennis, After viewing your post, we would like to speak to you about utilising your arrangement. Would you be able to email me at knott.d0506@gmail to discuss. Look forward to hearing from you. David
Strange, I just happened to be at the theater across the street from Northern Arizona U in Flagstaff when I watched this movie. 4 months later, I was playing this movie at my movie theater in California. Great movie and the crowd use to laugh their heads off when they watched some of the scenes.
What a nice performance, they are good, actors and singers! I am from Denmark (EU) and thought there would be no light opera in Arizona or Southern Arizona, but there is, indeed there is and it is good. Did you get enough performances to and support to make it profitable or is it like here (no opera without financial support here!)
Thank you!
Fab!!
CB's Voice is awesome! Love it *_*
Read the jew and the lotus its a good book
Thank you, I believe the same. I am glad someone gets this message out there to the Jewish TH-camrs out here!
My kids and I were there to see this!!!! We watched you all during American Idol too. We didnt even know you were going to be filling in that spring break in Pigeon Forge. You are our inspiration. My 14 year old daughter sings and she has a couple videos on here. SHE IS 14 YEARS OLD AND LOVES THAT YOU HAVE A LOT OF CLASS.
Great sequence. I've always loved the score of PYW!! It is such an under-rated show. Just love the male choral numbers of this show; they're even more powerful in live performances than the filmed version.
@nalahblueberry Great to hear from you! Hope all is well. Happy Holidays!!
