1965 Mercury Comet Gasser
This beautiful gasser belongs to a customer of mine. I was at the track helping him with the EFI tune when I grabbed this short video of his burnout and staging. This is a street driven hot rod. Full exhaust, Hilborn stacks with EFI conversion, BB Ford with Kaase heads, etc. Super nice build.

COPO 572 drag race

Bracket racing with the COPO. Slower car launches first. Video shot July 2024 at a bracket race. We were using the bracket race to work on some launch changes. Changing the car during the race made the car inconsistent, but it was still a fairly cheap way to get a bunch of runs in.

Blown 505 Mopar on dyno
มุมมอง 839หลายเดือนก่อน
505 Mopar with a BDS 8-71 blower warming up on the dyno. This engine made 700 hp and 700 ft-lbs of torque at 5500 RPM. It will make more power than 700 hp but we didn't want to turn it past 5500 for this dyno session. Once the boost kicks in the torque jumps right up to 700 ft-lbs! This would be a beast on the street.

440 inch small block Ford warming up on the dyno. This is a circle track engine based on a Z351 aluminum block. The heads are an aluminum canted valve high port design. Engine is designed for dirt track so the cam timing is a bit shorter than in a long track engine. Peak power is around 600 hp at 6000 rpm. Torque curve is flat and high!

    Hey Andy. Anything new with this 521” stroker ? The D9TE and later 460 production blocks are great for building strokers with cylinder walls that are .250” longer than earlier blocks. The extra width between pan rails accepts 521” stroker kits without block grinding for clearance. The 4.900” bore centers are good for big valve heads and moving plenty of CFM’s 🏁.

      The 512 makes a great street engine since it will have more torque but if you want to go racing with a stock block, then the 470 is a good choice. If you are willing to step up to an aftermarket block then something like a 540 or 572 with really big heads is a good choice. The 470 makes great power with Trick Flow 270 heads and it is fairly economical to build. It is a great engine to build for a 9 second bracket car.

      @andyfinkbeiner 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@darrylsmith7908 Depends on the block that you have. You'll need an RB block for a cross ram so then I'd go with a 505. But a cross ram is more for show than go. For 750 the easy way build a 505 with flat top dish pistons so you can use pump gas and then use a good intake such as the Super Victor or the Trick Flow. Have the intake ported and use a 1050 Dominator. You'll need a good solid roller cam, maybe something in the 270/280 range.

    Excellent video thank you for doing. I have a pump has 582 BB Chevy. Made 870 hp on dyno.273/283 at .050 and it’s idle isn’t happy particularly in Park. Idle in Drive isn’t bad. It’s also difficult start when engine is warm. I have cam selected at street/strip and IAC is always at 25-30. Frustrating. I may select ‘stock cam’ and see how it goes. I have MSD distributor with 6AL , timing set at 28 idle and 34 degrees all in by 2800 rpm. Any other suggestions will be most appreciated.

    • @andyfinkbeiner
      @andyfinkbeiner 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A Hyperspark distributor would be a good investment. You can lower the IAC number by turning in the idle screw a small amount. Maybe half a turn or so. Idle in park and drive can take some work depending on the converter. The higher the idle speed the easier it is to get them dialed in. Once it is dialed in then you can reduce the idle speed a little bit at a time and make adjustments.
