lol you have no idea champ, the water is meant to move up behind the gap mave by the V in the floss, by covering the input hole with floss and blocking off most of the rest of the holes you have basically made the thing useless. The idea is to reduce the amount of back pressure as the floss clogs so the unit can run 1000 times longer than what you have done to it 🤣🤣🤣

the problem is the cartridge you must replace them and they aren't cheap

The filter is NOT installed correctly, in this video. Which is why it's "not working" correctly. The"tabs" on the side of the filter should be folded over the edge of the casing - pulling it tight, eliminating the filter gapping & movement issues.

Would your modifications also work on the eheim Quick Vac? The Nicrew electric gravel cleaner? Both are less expensive than the fluval and seem to have similar build.

If you wanted a more permanent method of covering those holes use fiberglass.

Some people are so simple. The whole point of the makeshift filter is to catch the big pieces of poop so your filter won’t get as dirty. That’s why if you were listening he said he had a bowl ready so when he pulls it out of the water it will catch the poop or whatever else was collected on the mesh. The 2mm pellet is a little too big for fish that size.. You should use the 1mm pellet for that size fish.

That filter on the pipe makes no sense. You WANT the poop to be sucked up. That's kind of the whole idea of the vacuum. What I did was get a small mesh bag (made for aquarium media) I think it measures 3 in x 8 in. And I put it over the inner cartridge. I took the pull string out and pulled the opening of the mesh bag down to the intake hole and pulled it through. Then I just held the bag open on each side of the cartridge with one hand and slid it in place. It works perfectly. I don't know why the company has not fixed this problem yet. It would be so easy...
