    Why would you normalize before adding effects? Aren't you losing dynamic range unnecessarily by doing so?

    • @drtimv

      Normalizing doesn't change the dynamic range.

    • @annekedebruyn7797

      @@drtimv It does affect the dynamic range how much you can still add. If you normalize to -1dB, you only have 1dB of headroom for fx and mixing.

    • @drtimv

      You're right about headroom, but the total dynamic range hasn't been altered, only gain has been applied equally through the normalization process. Once you use the compression after normalization, you're squeezing the peaks, which opens up the headroom again. That's where you apply the final gain in the compressor plugin to your preference. If after compression, you still plan to add effects which add any gain (additive EQ for example) you might run in to headroom issues but only if those are after the compressor in your signal chain (as it's also acting as a limiter). Normalizing at the beginning isn't required though, it's just a preference. I find that amateurs often record at questionably low signal levels and then struggle during the editing process not realizing how quiet their overall mix is. However, in summary, it does not affect the dynamic range.

    Your channel remains ineligible for monetization Our reviewers found that your appeal wasn't successful. You still have the opportunity to reapply for monetization. What should you do next? 1. Review the appeal feedback Reviewers provided this feedback about your appeal: Appeal didn't contain enough visual examples of your filming, editing, or creative process Our reviewers did not find enough information in your video appeal to confirm if you own the content or if you've made substantial changes to someone else's original work. Leam more 2. Review the initial feedback Reviewers found that your channel doesn't follow all of TH-cam's monetization policies. Reused content Content is not clearly an original creation of this channel, and may have been repurposed from anoth 3. Edit your channel and reapply for monetization Make changes to your channel to address the initial feedback shown in step 2. Changes can include editing or deleting videos and updating video details. i found premieres/after effects subspace warp is the much more capable and versatile algorithm for most situations, it also takes about 20 times longer usually, but since actually editing something in adobe products is and absolute terrible slow and crash laden mess. you stabilize that in premiere and then export losless to a real editing software like davinci. in some cases you can even add davincis stabilizer to further stabilize for slight improvements.

    Nice introduction to stabilization for complete beginners! However, given that the title includes "Like a PRO", I would have hoped for a few explanations on how the three different algorithms work, to build up actual understanding instead of just clicking buttons (like a PRO would do) 🙃

    • @drtimv

      Fair enough - if you read the documentation on how the algorithms work you won't learn much about how they work with your specific footage, just how they approach. In the end, guess and check is the best way to approach it, or just re-shoot the footage. Hope this helps.

  • @MstrRo1

    RAW video is not real common. Do you consider RAW as any source video or is your MOV you were editing consider truly RAW? Raw video refers to unprocessed video data directly from the camera sensor, preserving all the original information. MOV files, on the other hand, can contain both raw video data (if encoded as such) and other compressed video formats (such as H.264 or ProRes). When you encounter an MOV file, it could be raw video (unlikely) or a compressed video format (more common). Was your MOV RAW video or compressed?

    • @drtimv

      You’re confused and overcomplicating things. In video production, "raw footage" refers to the unedited, original video material that is captured during filming. This footage has not been altered, trimmed, or processed in any way, and it includes all the takes, mistakes, and background noise. Raw footage is used as the starting point in the editing process, where it will be cut, organized, and refined into the final video product.

    • @MstrRo1

      @@drtimv How do you distinguish between raw video and unedited compressed video?

    • @drtimv

      @@MstrRo1 if you’re discussing footage straight out of the camera, compressed or uncompressed, it’s raw footage. If you’re discussing formats, you would say compressed or uncompressed and then add the attributes like RedRAW or Apple ProRes. It’s two different conversations.

    • @MstrRo1

      @@drtimvAccording to my research, interestingly enough, "it is technically possible to store raw video data within an MOV container." Must be why, it matters not, in the context of your video. I am just learning, so thank you for the clarification.

    • @drtimv

      @@MstrRo1 of course - you’ll find the conversation about codecs is usually separate from containers as well. It can get confusing. 🫤

    "Don't shoot footage that is SO super wiggly" - brillian tip......... from someone who never tried. As well "less shaky video == better software stabilization", is not always true. but for timelapse more opposite, while algoritms have hard time to fix minimum movements..... And resolve suck with walking stabilization, as well as any other software if movement is slow.
