I'm Losing Coolant!-Two Stroke Cylinder/Head O Ring Replacement

I'm losing coolant and I don't know why (my suspicion is that the o-rings are bad). Today we'll pull the head off and inspect and replace the o-rings between the head and the cylinder. I think the coolant loss is due to exhaust blowby that is forcing extra pressure through the cooling jackets and thereby pushing coolant out of the radiator expansion hose. nope just the exhaust cam. It made a big difference.

Turns out it was my radiator cap! It was missing the rubber gasket when I bought it.
@@NaturallyCaffeinated I'm having major loss of coolant w/o any external signs or black specks in the coolant. The cap has always been a PITA to install - so I now lubed it and will give a try. After lubing, the cap was soooo easy to install. Let' see...

@@NaturallyCaffeinated The larger gasket is supposed to be seated on the radiator opening. There was visible precipitation on the aluminium, which could not be there had the cap been fully seated. So, I believe that the engine has -over time- evaporated much of the water out.

@@NaturallyCaffeinated all of them haha I ended up getting it out after drilling a little indent. Definitely had to sleep on it. Going to work on the swing arm bearings next
Do you need to dump the clutch?
Not neccessarily a dump but a quick release. When you "dump" the clutch you can loose control and feel of the engagement point. With the proper clutch modulation you will feel the engagement point which is critical in the successful slow wheelie. Try this, practice (without trying a wheelie) on flat ground, quickly releasing the clutch and immediately pulling the clutch lever back in to gain a "feel" for the engagement point. Do this over and over until you have control of your clutch. Once you have practiced this over and over, try pulling your front end up then tapping the rear brake to bring the front wheel back to earth. After doing this over anger again you should have a better feel for clutch modulation and control. This should help you with your slow wheelie. The idea is to control your rear wheel traction and bringing the front end up in a controlled manner. Thank s for watching and good luck!
Hello Jeff, Did the new clutch plates get rid of the squealing sound? Did you see anything wrong with the old clutch plates? My 2017 Xtrainer’s clutch squeals sometimes and I’m going to have to check it out. Thanks, Conor
Thanks for the question. Turns out the old clutch plates were fine. The engine was rebuild just before I bought the bike and the bolts needed to be retorqued.

@@hickokaviation2249 Once you start to record yourself "learning" these techniques you begin to truly learn. The learning curve on the double blip is pretty steep. Clutch control and timing are key here. Good luck! Would love to see a video of where you're at on this technique.
@@NaturallyCaffeinated I’m trying to learn the timing to pop up the front wheel right now. Filming oneself is a huge help to calibrate what we think we’re doing and reality. Everything feels bigger in the moment and then in video it’s usually underwhelming. 🤣

After owning the XTrainer and modifying it I did decide to buy a 2022 300RR Race Edition (WOW, what a difference). Thanks for watching.
This helped me a lot with getting the water pump seal the right way round, the manual isnt quite clear enough. Thicker edge to the flat side of the pump or pointing away from the engine.

Great vid. Just bought a 2020 for my kid but it may become my bike! Your input on gummy tire wear reminds me of an article from Malcom smith I read as a kid about clutch control and the evils of tire spin. He said ride as if your back tire cost a $100 (remember this was 30 years ago) I try to ride with as little wheel spin as possible to go faster. I can put 30 hrs on a gummy where my friends will smoke a motocross tire in half that.

I'm tiptoe on my left feet, so I can't get my body movement from front to back to compress the fork. I noticed you are tip toe too but How did you do it???
Thanks for watching my video! I start by sitting on the bike with one leg on the ground. I then shift my weight forward to help compress my front forks. This is where I use the rebound of the suspension to help me lift the front end with clutch control and throttle (very little throttle though). Hope this helps. Let me know if I should create a video for getting the front end up in the air.
I love your approach, and certainly learned from watching your video. Question…you’ve got a nice/consistent throttle that you use to help get the lift in your rebound, but did you ever struggle with getting that consistent?…I’m struggling to get consistent throttle blips (because they are so small) and if I happen to wind the throttle blip too much, my clutch modulation isn’t reacting quick enough to stop the bike from looping…can you give any suggestions for dealing with this issue?
So, yes! It takes time to "feel" what is necessary to get the front end up without to much throttle. But, it shouldn't take much throttle to get the front end up. If using rebound and the right clutch modulation you won't need much throttle. Maybe I'll make another video with this exact technique in mind to help. Thank you for watching and your question! @@NaturallyCaffeinated thanks for your reply! …if you were to line up the slots of the throttle and the drop of the clutch, and the fork rebound, would all three be simultaneous, in your own mind, or are the staggered?…I’m wondering if I should be cracking the throttle as I’m compressing the forks and the dropping the clutch with the rebound, and throttling off as I’m dropping the clutch, so there is no way to have the throttle on as the clutch is engaged….if that makes sense? (I’ve over throttled when I’m shifting my weight back - on the rebound - and if it’s just a little overdone, the front wheel is hard to control, as it comes up so quickly)
…another way to ask is…”are you blipping the throttle” as you pull back in the handlebars? I’m trying that but find I’ve an inconsistent blip, as I find it difficult to shutoff the blip while trying to pull the bars back…if you’re doing that, then your experience shows me I just have to work harder :-)

How did this bike turn out? I'm looking into doing a transmission swap on my 2017 YZ250F for a WR/FX wide ratio 6 speed trans.
Amazing, this thing turned into a hard enduro tractor! Love the transmission swap. The gearing is perfect for what I ride, slow technical.
So once you are up you use the clutch still as you are up 🤔 I just started yesterday I can get it up but comes down as soon as it is up
Correct, continue to modulate the clutch at the engagement point while covering your rear brake. It's going to take some time and practice but keep at it! Good luck.
I ride a xr600r could you give me some advice please
Start with your clutch control. Then practice bringing the front end up slowly, tap the rear brake and repeat over and over until you can consistently bring the front end up safely (remember to keep your foot covering the rear brake). From there you can start to drag your left foot on the ground. From there try keeping both feet on the pegs. Hope it helps.

Id like to see someone put a xtrainer pipe on a 300rr.... for someone who wanted the geometry and suspension of the 300rr yet a torque monster nature of the xtrainer... never seen this done yet.

Wear a helmet dude. I love riding too, it only takes once and yer loved ones are feeding you with a straw. If you just going to the mailbox yeah maybe don’t wear one but any tricks you need to have one on.

Did you try the Beta dealer (they’re not expensive)? You need to get them from either the 300 RR or the 300 RR Race Edition. Hope that helps.

I have a 50cc beta enduro and i am trying to get into wheeling but I have never done a wheelie with anything before. Do you recommend learning slow wheelies before “normal wheelies” or is it more difficult to do a slow one?

This worked for us - Thanks for the video One note they changed the bottom at some point so there is only one screw. You just pry each of the 4 sides and the bottom comes off. We also used dialetric grease for each of the fittings as we put back on it worked great!😀

In most the slow wheelie vids ive watched, no one ever touches on side to side balance….the a very key factor. throttle clutch and rear brake are paramount in the process, but if one doesnt have lateral stability it becomes popping up and dabbing left or right foot

Have you tried this on any other Blendtec models? I manage a food service business and we are required to use Blendtec but often have blenders go out with this error; eventually, the blender is no longer under warranty so they won't fix it and we are left with an expensive paperweight. My boss has given me permission to experiment and see if I can fix the blender.

Thanks for watching my video! Yes trimmed that rear fender. I used the blue painters tape and cut with a hand grinder. It helps while learning the slow wheelie if you loop it, HAHAHA!
You have some really good video's showing reality of learning these skills, I would say you are already an above average rider! (you also remind me of Steve Carell) I don't even know why, apologies if you didn't want to hear that, ha! Just got myself an older te250 4t husky, used to ride a small amount of trails/lanes over here in the UK but had quite a long time without an off road bike so still fairly rusty. The slow wheelie (or any wheelie) for that matter is still something I really want to master, getting over an obstacle is the next lol.
