This is a myth, it has zero basis in reality. We talked about it at law school in contract law classes. There are so many holes in the story that it cannot be true. Snopes all investigated it. It was found to be false. It wasnt in any newspaper, in 1996 it was in a speech to the national bar association as a funny joke. This guy plagerized the story from that speech.

I was fortunate enough to meet and talk with a WASP living in Graham, Texas in 1997. She was operating a little music store there while caring for her husband who had been struck by Alzheimers and took time to tell me about some of her experiences flying bombers. She died a few months later after her husband (a local high school band teacher, long retired) had died.

This is a lovely interview. I'm a generation and a half past L'Engle, and I stil got grief in high school for liking physics and Georgi who looks enough like my grandpapa to make me suspect Eugenics if I hadn't read about it, even so couldn't recognize a mind like his in a female body when I was a freshman aiming to major in physics..lthough he later recanted and dedicated himself to mentoring females. I was the Student who Got Away, and became a Chinese major instead. I agree with her point of view about physics and religion. But we need to put Einstein into the context of how he treated his wife. And also, thanks to Eugenics, Einstein appears to have been the source of the devastating childhood degenerative disease called Rett's Syndrome. Albert, I am speculating, seems to have carried a balanced XY chromosomal translocation with only a tiny bit of lost DNA in his own genome that made him a touch eccentric. But in some of his female and male offspring, the translocation is UNbalanced, leading to Retts in girls and some kind of mental issue in males. Every little girl I've ever seen in photos on a Retts website has a face that looks just like Albert's as a young child, same nose, same eyes, same facial shape. It's too strong a trend to be merely coincidence. Quite a few of the White Male Geniuses selected by the Human Eugenics Breeding Program carreid terrible genetic diseases and/or epilepsy, and far from replacing "bad" genes with "good" genes, these Eugenics White Male Genius Sperm Donors spread all sorts of hereditary epilepsies and other disorders all around the world. In other words, from a scientific point of view Eugenics was REALLY A HORRIFICALLY DUMB IDEA,merely from a SCIENTIFIC point of view, even before you consider its immorality as the source of the Nazi's ideas.... In other words, Eugenics was a RECIPE to spread MentalRetardation Syndromes all across the globe, because the cause of mental retardation isn't "bad genes" that need to be replaced with "good genes". The true, scientific causes of hereditary mental retardation, we now know, include a Mismatch Between Genes and Environmental Conditions AND Consanguinity. The genius genes and the MR genes actually turn out to be THE SAME GENES, varying only by copy number, one copy and you're a genius, two copies and you have epilepsy and MR, oops. And how do you create a perfect storm to create bucketloads of exactly such homozygous MR kids? Have just a few guys generate thousands and thousands of babies, like Bugs Bunny, so that first cousins inevitably meet and marry.... Strong work, White Male Eugenicists. You went and did the OPPOSITE to what would have been helpful from a scientific point of view, AND you sowed horrific false racist ideas that ruined or sterilized or imprisoned millions of innocents in the US and England even before the rise of the Nazi's. Strong work guys....strong work. We need authors like L'Engle to make kids not only love sci-tech, but also to Think about the Ethics behind science, as A Wrinkle In Time does, making children consider the morals of Communism and Enforced Conformity by visiting Camazots. Aunt Beast would have a long line of nephews and nieces waiting to see her if she ever visited twenty first century America...
