Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to All!!!
After the California State Railroad Museum’s Polar Express rides were cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19, the Polar Express trains returned in 2021 with COVID-19 protocols. Although the SMUD substation fire on December 14, caused a major power outage in Old Sacramento and disrupted some rides, it was still a great return of the Polar Express trains with many happy families and volunteers joining in on the fun.

On July 20, 2019, after an 11-year restoration, the Pacfic Locomotive Association reintroduced the last surviving German Krauss Maffei Southern Pacific 9010. Since SP 9010’s restoration was not yet complete, the locomotive was controlling the train while SP 5623 was the motive power for the SP consist. SP 9010 put on a great show with the many run-bys in the canyon. Enjoy:)
