“Frogs” attempts to deliver a bizarre narrative about a man who transforms into a frog and goes on a killing spree, but it ultimately feels like a wasted opportunity. What could have been a clever mix of dark humor and absurdity instead results in a disjointed mess that leaves viewers scratching their heads in confusion. The premise starts strong, hinting at potential for satire and character exploration, but quickly spirals into an incoherent series of scenes that fail to engage. The character development is practically nonexistent, and the supposed metamorphosis into a frog is treated with such a lack of seriousness that it becomes difficult to care about his journey-or lack thereof. Instead of providing commentary on identity or societal issues, the film resorts to cheap shock value and mindless gore, which only serves to highlight its shortcomings. The pacing drags, with overly long sequences that contribute nothing to the story, further compounding its failure. The visual effects range from mediocre to laughably bad, leaving us yearning for the quality of earlier works from Nate, whose prime videos were filled with creativity and genuine entertainment. “Frogs” misses the mark on almost every front, resulting in a disappointing experience that doesn’t live up to its potential. Rating: 3.6/10-a stark reminder of how far we’ve strayed from the brilliance of Nate’s earlier creations.
