Great documentary! We always wondered what happened to the Riviera. So glad we got to meet you, and glad that our room at the Excalibur was a great spot for you to view the Tropicana implosion.
Last thing I'm worried about is using my cell phone while in las vegas just walk outside if you need to make a call people are obsessed with there phones turn them off on vacation enjoy the world off your phones
I have great memories of the National Open Chess Tournament in which I participated 4 times in the early 90‘s at the Riviera. But the Hotel was already aging. Once there was a rain storm and the water was dripping in through the roof and they hat to put buckets on same of the tables to catch the water😂.
I noticed the circus circus casino one of the most hated places by a lot of tourists is still open and standing to this very day and despite it being so hated which I don’t think it deserves all the hate has had to watch so many casinos surrounding it get destroyed and blown up Including the landmark and the El Rancho casinos that were right next-door
The circus circus casino that was next door has managed to survive all these years, despite it being hated by a lot of people and that building has had to watch so many buildings on that street it taken down like the landmark the El Rancho, and there’s also the dunes, the sands, the Hacienda, the desert in the Stardust boardwalk Bourbon Street and many others
It's sad Because a lot of those Buildings were Where a lot of Great Artists like Elvis Presley and so many more played for years and to see them go like this is Truly Sad.
I just walked the block where the Riviera use to be a few weeks ago (June 2024). They are certainly expanding the convention center at full speed today. And the Tesla Hyperloop now goes where it use to be.
I moved to Las vegas in 1982 got to experience the great night life, cheap eats and just plain fun times on the neon blvd. I still live in Southern Nevada but have no desire to visit the strip area anymore. We loved the Riviera it was one of our favorite hotels.
You did a hell of a job on this. TH-cam is so full of cheaply quickly made crap I feel it's in jeopardy of being overtaken but your film doc here was worthy of commercial appeal. Keep it up dude, you impressed me.
Don't be surprised at the demolition of old Vegas. Its happening everywhere. My town could give lessons on how to destroy your history...they're very good at it...😠
I STARTED THEIR IN 1975 IN THE BACCARAT PIT, I WORKED THEIR UNTIL 1989 THEN WENT TO THE SANDS UNTIL IT CLOSED IN 95... MY FAMILY, MY FRIENDS, MY MEMORIES, NOW I'M SOON TO FOLLOW. BY FAR THE HAPPIEST DAYS OF MY ENTIRE LIFE, OF THAT I AM CERTAIN...
Superb retrospective. I'm so old that nearly all the tourists, gamblers, hookers and help I rubbed shoulders [and other body parts] with there in the 70s 80s and 90s are dead... but we sure lived at the time.🙄😏
That was an awesome documentary. The show splash at the Riviera I delivered it it was actually made in Glendale California by Auction Production. I personally went up there five times with a bobtail with all the different products for that show

Huge loss for Las Vegas
I miss the Riveria
Such a waste of money
I remember going to the Riviera around 2010 and man was it dingy then.

I think thay did it because the mob ran it 😢
Another piece of Las Vegas' rich history gone courtesy of Controlled Demolition, Inc. *sigh* :(
memphis and blondie start looking online for casino equipment we gonna start filling up storage units with equipment
I loved that place 😊
I know this is an older presentation, great job on the filming and content, I hope you are living your dream!

Is Cashed Out Casino 2 (2024) in the works for the demolition of the Tropicana?

All of these iconic casinos could have been upgraded to today's standards. This is a huge chunk of Las Vegas's history... Gone in seconds ! 😭😢😥😓😞🥺
Exactly
One of the best videos telling the sad story of the end of an era

It's sad , but they did turn it into a pretty bad ass convention floor.
Kinda
10:45 I cringe at the odds equipment and documents were left with customer data on them....

You got Derek Stevens in an interview?
I got married at the Riviera in 1995. Sad to demolish the iconic Riviera just for a empty parking lot and probably today still empty
AMAZING WORK! I WAS BLESSED TO SPEND NEARLY THE ENTIRE SUMMER THERE IN 2014! THE LAST SUMMER IT WAS OPEN !
Watching this again because of f Tropicana
Will you take on a similor Project with Tropicana now?

Pssst what about Vegas Vacation. That was a great movie 😂👍🇨🇦
Very well put together! I liked the footage and the breakdown of how the shutdown played out. Very good work! I love vegas and its history

As of the time posting this comment, this is the most recent Las Vegas hotel to be blown up.
It’s also the largest Las Vegas resort to be destroyed.
The Trop is about to pass it
When ‘Dust in the wind’ played and those flashback’s came up I got chills and even started to tear up a little. And I’ve never been to Vegas!!!😆
