hello sir I have the same sound but a little more clanky it happened all of a sudden as I was pulling out of my driveway sounded normal then alot more clanky I might upload a video of it but I see people say it sounds fine for a engine with high mileage. I'm still learning about cars so this is a little out of my knowledge

Change the water pump.

How do I open the boot ?

There is service bulletin from PSA for this engine, the humming noise is from the water pump, they are replacing it with timing belt under warranty . There is even note on the service bulletin that the noise is still present after replacement just it is more silent than the "faulty" one.

Healthy engine

I've only had one Vectra. A 2.2 Auto but it was so nice to drive. That was 7 years ago and since then I've had company cars.....now they've gone I'm looking for my own car again and so tempted with another Vectra estate. They still look so modern!

Sounds lovely for 155k! I've got the exact same engine in an A4 with 59k on it and sounds pretty much exactly the same. I do wonder whats been replaced in its lifetime though.. Original timing chains too? 🤔
