    If regulation allowed, I'd love to see a modern built quasi replica of these old beauties with an electric drivetrain.

    That angle is crazy.

    Just to remind you, this vehicle costs less than a sedan. Most vehicles today with this capability could reach 9 to 10 times this price. And i bet it still isn't capable of freeing itself from getting stuck in the sand. or climbing steep and slippery hills for that matter.

    Why can't they make cars like this anymore? I mean sure we have better speed, mileage, and safety now, but do you have to sacrifice maneuverability for that?

    It didn't top out at a 1040 score - the rear wheel has now reached the ramp, so it actually has indefinite flex at a 20 degree RTI!

  • @bighunterman77
    @bighunterman77 ปีที่แล้ว

    so 4 percent longer than wheelbase? that's impressive. but i'm betting there was plenty of frame flex too. that door probably wouldn't open.

    People assume old cars were fragile and had poor suspension. I laugh my ass off whenever i see those kinds of comments. These cars where grade A don't care go anywhere cars. You'd find them on mountain tops, in deep valleys and generally speaking all over America, back in the day.

      People assume everything and have never studied anything about the 1900s-1920s, or rather the 1900s to 1950s-60s-70s. I can go on and on about Automobile glory in the early twentieth century, stripe design, disteel wheel, tire war, closed sedan, 340 Automobile companies, two tone being more common in the 1920s than the 1950s. This is real knowledge that no car "enthusiast" can even tell you.

    People be making T buckets out of these, with that articulation I’d take one off-road

  • @chumbawaumbacumpa
    @chumbawaumbacumpa 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Some of the Model T’s articulation comes from the frame itself, which is made out of vanadium steel; stronger, lighter, and more flexible than other steels used by auto manufacturers at the time. Two people on either end of a bare Model T frame could pick it up and simultaneously twist it in either direction. Each axle has one laterally -mounted leaf spring, as opposed to having two that run parallel with the frame rails. While this isn’t the best for high speed driving, it works wonders for articulation, as shown in the video.

    • @DrTheRich
      @DrTheRich ปีที่แล้ว

      Can confirm, it drives like a dream off road. I can't tell the difference between asphalt and gravel roads by feel. The lateral suspension was quite unique even for it's time

    See the Model T was built still when there was no proper or good roads, so they had to have perfect axels and suspension, making it easier to drive in offroad/rocky-terrain, but that makes old cars so exquisite and precisely luxurious, and this Model T has been kept so clean, it seems almost insane, ⬇ for who likes old cars over new

    • @WitchKing-Of-Angmar
      @WitchKing-Of-Angmar 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      These vehicles came extremely black glossy you know, not this brushed matte. And fuck the T to begin with, compare it to a chalmers/Rubay/Standard and its like seeing a horse next to a model T but the Model T is now the horse in comparison.
