Why does everything look sooo Civilized there? Those restaurants are looking so romantic. I can even feel their ambiance . Now let me see if I have ever met anyone from Costa Rica? Perhaps, they can clue me in on what "PURA VIDA" really means.... because I'm seriously tired of living inside these Uncivilized United RATRACE States. Yup, I don't even visit their restaurants anymore. I mean, why bother myself? Because their atmosphere is so deplorable., but of course, we must always leave our hefty tips.

Hi Wanda, thoroughly enjoyed your honest and down-to-earth videos about Costa Rica. My son and her family of wife and 3 children (15,12,10) (Boy, Boy, girl) will be arriving in LIR on Dec 18. My husband and I are also arriving on the same day. They will rent a 7-pass SUV and we will rent a 4,5-pass SUV. Until Dec 27. We will definitely call your rental guy. I'm going to cartagena as a solo male traveler in mid november and wanted to know if it's safe and if Uber is safe to use or are there a lot of drug cartels and I plan to just stay in the city

All of your comments are right on. We live in Atenas (12 years) and love it. Like every Tico home we have a main house, a casita, a rancho and a bodega. The only scary thing I have seen was a Fer de Lance just outside my door. They come down when it is rainy and chilly. The most fun thing is that twice I spotted a perezosa (sloth) on. The road and picked it up and carried off the road to safety (I had gloves on so not to transmit anything bad to the sloth). They are literally all bones and weigh like a feather. I sleep every night with the door open to. The outside in our bedroom. It is SOOO lovely to wake up - 67-68 degrees, birds chirping to wake me up. Always the same yellow belly bird (golden belly fly-catcher) just outside my door. Se dicen que Atenas tiene el mejor clima del mundo - y eso es correcto! Thanks for the nice video

Wanda, help a fellow European out. From what I understand most of the CR food is imported from the US, where (in the US) they really have a lot of issues with their food regulations. Whereas Europeans have the highest food standards in the world. I'm talking chemicals we can spray on it. I'm European, how do I eat in CR without eating American food? I don't wanna be rude, but is that even possible? I know ticos spray all kinds of stuff on it as well. So how would you go about doing that?
