    What 7 pin harness did you get? I see that Nissan only sells the 4 pin

    • @bholtzhauser
      @bholtzhauser 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So if your pathfinder does not already have from the factory a 7 pin connector on the rear bumper then you do not have the towing package, which includes the extra transmission cooler, and without the towing package your pathfinder can not two 6000 lbs, it has a much smaller towing capacity, I think it varies by year but a lot of them I saw supported 3500 lbs. My 2023 Rock Creek came with the towing package and part of the 7 pin connector is to send the electric brake signal to the trailer, the brake controller I installed gets information from that white connector I exposed in the dash that tells it how hard the brake is being pressed and that gives a variable... but adjustable signal to the trailer on how much braking is required. So if you do not have a 7 pin harness I don't know if your pathfinder will have the necessary connections under the dash to hook up a 7 pin connector... that you would have to wire all the way back from any brake controller under your dash to where you would be installing the connector on the rear bumper... and again your towing capacity is probably not 6000 lbs but something much smaller. Sorry.

    Hi, thanks to you I managed to fix this issue without having to pay a stupid amount of money, but now I have a doubt, is it normal for the start button to blink orange after this fix? I suppose that it’s just a signal that needs to be reset or something but I’m worried that my cx-5 will die on me on a highway or something dangerous like that!

    • @bholtzhauser
      @bholtzhauser 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i don't recall my start button flashing / blinking orange, I would pop off the cover and check the wires again, it is possible the switch you got and installed is bad too. If you still have the old switch just hook up the wires to it (no need to "install" it) and see if the start button does the orange blink.

    i have a 2024 platinum, how did you connect it in the rear? is there any hidden wires to connect the 7 pin connector?

    • @bholtzhauser
      @bholtzhauser 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is no need to connect the brake controller to the 7pin in the rear of the car... where you plug in the trailer. One of the pins in the 7pin connector is the "Brake" wire, putting the brake controller in like this (plugging the brake controller in that white factory connection under the dash) activates and coordinates that "Brake wire" in the plug to modulate the voltage/current on that wire and controls the brakes on the trailer.

    • @jorgecastillo0920
      @jorgecastillo0920 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dang, I’m sorry I’m still not understanding. So you don’t have a 7 pin connector for your trailer?

    • @bholtzhauser
      @bholtzhauser 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jorgecastillo0920 I do have a 7pin, I assume you do too. The 7pin on your pathfinder, or any pathfinder... that does not have a brake controller installed will not be able to activate the brakes on a trailer equipped with electric brakes. The "Brake wire" in the 7pin will not have a signal on it. So that is why you install a brake controller, When the brake controller gets connected to that factory provided plug that is under the steering wheel, it puts that signal on the 7pin in the rear of the car... when you hit your brakes, the brake controller sees that and sends the appropriate voltage on the "Brake wire".

    • @jorgecastillo0920
      @jorgecastillo0920 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bholtzhauser no mine doesn’t have a 7 pin connector. We added the hitch and the only one we can add is a 4 pin. The rear harness doesn’t have the connector for a 7 pin. Only 4 pin. But it does have that connector under the dash like yours.

    • @bholtzhauser
      @bholtzhauser 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jorgecastillo0920 OH, So that probably means you do not have the other parts of the puzzle that fit together for the larger towing capacity, if you have the 7 pin and the extra transmission cooler etc. from the factory the tow rating is like 6000 lbs, but without it I think it is more like 3,500 lbs. So be careful what you tow, and a 4 pin connector does not have a "Brake wire" so you can not activate any electric brakes on whatever you are towing.

    I learned this cooler option from another video and now I have started to search that cooling option and tow hitch installation give the more capacity very surprise for me because in my idea this mechanically has to be supported in the transmission gear quality etc.

    • @bholtzhauser
      @bholtzhauser ปีที่แล้ว

      I think for towing to work as expected the transmission cooler has to be added, because towing something puts so much load on the transmission that it heats up, and if you don't get rid of the heat, the mechanically solid parts of it will be pushed past their design specs and predictably fail much sooner than expected.

    • @bholtzhauser
      @bholtzhauser ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brani1974, the part of the switch that makes contact with the shifter was made of softer material that breaks down over time and usage... and Mazda should have used better materials in the switch. Some people have creatively built that part of their original switch back up vs replacing it. WD40 would likely make problems with the original switch worse(speed up the softening of the rubber like material).

    Please I need your help !!! I have a 2023 pathfinder platinum and have the Nissan Elec brake jumper it has 5 wires at the end. And I also have the Tekonsha harness but it only has 4 wires at the end one is black,white,red and blue. How do I connect the wires correctly ??them ??? By color ??

    • @bholtzhauser
      @bholtzhauser ปีที่แล้ว

      I used that cable from Amazon (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001NZMBVC) that plugs into the back of the brake controller and the other end plugs directly into the Pathfinder. I do have a stand alone kind of cable like you are mentioning that came with the brake controller that plugs into the back of the brake controller and exposes four wires (no plug on the end), I would guess that would be something you could use if you knew the wiring specs of your vehicle and were courageous enough to splice it into your vehicles wiring, if you could not find the appropriate cable for your vehicle. I would look for the adapter cable ;-) The one I got will probably work for you, but I can't say for sure what might be different with our trim level (Platinum) vs mine (Rock Creek).

    I'm having this issue on my cx3 2016, how do I find out the name (number) of the replacement part? If it is the same or not?

    • @bholtzhauser
      @bholtzhauser ปีที่แล้ว

      So I don't see this part number being used on a cx-3, for example if you go here(www.mazdacarpartsonline.com/p/Mazda__CX-3/Switch/64886770/KDY046040.html) it will say it does not "fit your cx-3". I don't know how to find the right part for your car, all my searching does not show a solution, there is a lot of chatter about iStop and showing how to turn that off permanently. Sorry I can't help more. I did notice that there are a lot of other videos out there about this issue on CX-5 and Mazda 6 though.
