How to play Blast Off
มุมมอง 7174 ปีที่แล้ว
Blast Off from Waddingtons 1969 is a game of space exploration. Manage your fuel and orbital velocity to Blast Off to the moon and beyond. See if you can spot the error at 6mins 20. I said the moon moves every time someone rolls a dice. I should have said every time someone rolls a 6! (Quite a game changer there!)
Lexicon - How to Play

How to play Lexicon. This vintage edition of the classic word game is from 1933. Made by Waddingtons. This video was shared in conjunction with Toy Tuesday at the Abbey House Museum, Kirkstall, Leeds. The museum has similar copies of Lexicon in their collection. Oops! I think I got challenger and defender muddled at the end! If you make a correct challenge to an opponent's word or spelling and ...

How to Play Nine Mens Morris
มุมมอง 1.1K4 ปีที่แล้ว
How to play Nine Men's Morris a game that is simple to learn with a decent amount of strategy and also popular in Roman times. One visitor explained that he had seen it carved into sandstone in South Africa. Unlike more sophisticated strategy games evenly matched players or those with enough experience of the game can eventually force a draw. People also speculated on the name - one person aski...

We picked up one of these from a jumble sale probably late 70s, early 80s. Blasted thing would shriek without us touching it so was a bit faulty 😂 Love your video showing it again. I only recall the man one so likely missing bits hence it's being at the jumble sale 😊
That would be horrific!!
Hi. Thanks for this. Is Hexago Continuo a newer version of this? Thanks.
It sounds like it but it's not one I've come across. Hope it's good though :-)
Bought some memories back ! Played it for hours back then.. I always wondered why the space craft playing pieces were based on those of the Gemini mission's. These mission's were to perfect the technique of docking two craft in space, essential for the following Apollo mission's. Perhaps the licensing rights from NASA where rather expensive for the moon mission Apollo craft so Waddington may have had to make do with the Gemini.. Having said that it could have been that as things were moving so quickly Waddingtons also needed to manufacture large quantities of games ready to satisfy huge demand before they even knew what the Apollo crafts looked like.
Such a lovely game. I bet you're right about the ships.
Well done on embracing this and doing a solid routine. As good as many professional comedians I've seen!
Kudos for getting up and doing that in front of a crowd ! I would freeeeeeze ! When I was around 20, my best mate got married, and asked me to be his best man. It got to the speeches at the reception, and suddenly it was my turn to get up, make the apologies, read out some messages and deliver my speech. All I could see was this sea of faces and I froze ! I heard someone say ‘God look how red he’s gone’ and that was it, I looked at my mate, shook my head and sat down. Luckily he was slightly high to get himself through the day and picked up where I left off and it was done. Obviously that marriage didn’t last and I think I started off that decline right there at the wedding ! Good luck for future stand ups. Hope you post them.
Thank you. I picked up an old set recently (the plane version) I'm looking forward to giving it a go 😁
Enjoy :-)
Thanks for this. Just bought an old one on-line and it is testament to Waddington's that it is still in great shape all these years on. Note that in explanations it is easy to confuse Secret 'Token' with Secret 'Card' (wish it was called Code Card or similar). It reminds me a bit of Escape from Colditz where the rules are quite brief but getting one's head around them is another matter!
Awesome. Oh yes, I've got that one too and it is very challenging!!
Thank you for putting this video up. I had not heard of this game and now have a copy thanks to you and what a great game it is. Hope you make some more films soon.
I'm so glad it was helpful. Thank you.
I loved this game! Thanks for the video!
I'm glad you liked it. Thank you 😊
Thank you for your video 😉🌷
I'm glad you found it useful.
Like it nice game:)
Blimey, nice game but struggling to understand at 52, let alone whwn I was 12
I think it's much easier when you actually play it and move the pieces around. I definitely learn games by playing them.
I still have my version from when I was a kid. Most likely 50+ years old.
That's lovely though that you've kept it.
my favourite game as a kid - 50 years on, found it on eBay and now I can play again 👍
That's brilliant to hear. Glad you found a copy. :-)
great fun when we were kids in the early 70s
I had this as a child. We never worked out what the hell was going on. Not sure I still do. :(
Thanks for this review and the Scoop video! Scoop seems fun and logical and fast, but the Spy Ring ... as it is with every new game (and I am/was considering to buy the Spy Ring) one has to put some effort to educate fellow gamers about the rules, and I am not sure whether I can manage that. Quite positive about the Scoop, though, and I already have the game - the earlier, yellow box edition.
That was a surprisingly good video and explanation, thank you
Glad it was useful.
My son just found this game in our house, We have never opened the box until today it was left behind by the previous owners of the house 15 years ago. After a quick search we find this video telling up how to play. Perfect. Thank you
Oh that's lovely to hear. Thank you :-)
I'm curious, after having played the game, what do you think of it?
So cool! Thank you for sharing this! If you don't mind my asking, where did you find this? I will be subscribing to you and sharing this vid across my social. Cheers!
Thank you for your support. I bought it at the bring and buy at Airecon.
