Bach-Rachmaninoff Prelude from E Major Violin Partita on Roland FP-90X
มุมมอง 382ปีที่แล้ว
In advance of Rachmaninoff's 150th birthday on April 1, 2023, here's his transcription of Bach's Prelude from the E Major Violin Partita on a Roland FP-90X stage piano, recorded on my wife's balcony on The Pearl in Qatar. I never would have imagined that I would *love* an electric piano! I bought the Roland to practice in Doha in advance of my May 2023 recital in Patagonia, Arizona. The touch i...

Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943): Lullaby Bruce Robinson, piano Rachmaninoff performed Lullaby on his final concert tours. He recorded the piece in his last recording sessions, in 1942, although RCA released it only in 1973. This is a transcription of the song of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) to a poem by Apollon Maykov (1821-1897) from his Modern Greek Songs, 1860. The lyrics to the song...
Lezghinka by Liapunov
มุมมอง 1452 ปีที่แล้ว
Sergei Liapunov (1859-1924) wrote 12 Transcendental Etudes in memory of Franz Liszt. Liszt had written 12 Transcendental Etudes in 12 different keys, and Liapunov's set completed the cycle of all 24 keys. Lezghinka, the 10th of the set, is marked "in the style of Balakirev" as it references Balakirev's famous and difficult piano piece, Islamey. The Lezghinka is a dance of the Caucasus with two ...

Bruce Robinson, piano I recently discovered this marvelous transcription by Godowsky, which embroiders Saint-Saëns' piece with delicious harmonies and inner voices. We don't have many swans in Tucson, but we do have saguaros (pronounced suh·waa'·rows). So I've taken the opportunity to share facts and photos about our wonderful armed cactus.

    If one practices on fp9- only, would one be able to play on a grand? Also, if one starts practicingon a grand afterwoards, how long would it take to adjust one's technique on a grand?

    • @orchmarketer
      @orchmarketer 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you would. I would suggest using a good set of headphones, because the sound is really good that way--I use Sony MDR7506 www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AJIF4E/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 . The sound is excellent using the piano's speakers, it's just that it's better with headphones.

      I don't think you'd have to adjust your technique; I think only that the difference in the amount of sound might feel different. I go back and forth between my grand and my FP-90X and don't think a thing about the change.

    Thank you for sharing your talents! I've recently been inspired to research and look into learning the piano, and I'm quite certain I'll be buying the Roland FP-90X to start my journey. It seems to be a fantastic, solid choice and great choice for someone starting out to learn, grow, develop. I'd love to be able to play at your kind of level! :) I wonder how much practice and how long it might take me to be able to confidently execute a strong classical piece?

      Dear Adam, Thank you for your kind words. I couldn't agree more that this instrument would be a great choice. This is my second instrument--I have a small Essex-by-Steinway grand at our other home--but I feel no limitations with the FP-90X. I cannot answer your question about the length of time it would take to get to a particular level of playing. If someone answers that question, I recommend you don't trust the answer. The journey is the point, for me as well. I'll say this: adult beginners can make astonishing progress with the right instruction and a little self-discipline. Best wishes to you!.

      @@orchmarketer thank you very much for your wisdom and kind words of sound advice :) Particularly on how long it might take to get to a level I might be content with and that the journey is the point for you. Both of those things make perfect sense to me! I do see myself as a naturally self-disciplined person, so maybe I have half a chance at doing well over lots of time, effort and practice in coming years. I'd certainly want to have good instruction too, and do my research on private tuition near to me - coupled with other ways of learning such as: videos, books, digital learning Apps. I'm still not 100% I'm going to start my journey learning Piano, more research and asking myself the question of how much commitment long term and how, as you say, 'disciplined' I'll need to be if I want to get out it if what I'd like to. I do love the idea though, and the more I see inspiring videos and channels like yours and visited a fantastic renowned Music store recently, called 'PMT - Play Music Today', in Birmingham, England, www.pmtonline.co.uk/ - then the more I feel I'll make the decision soon to start! If I decide to start my Piano journey over coming months, next year or so, I'll be in touch again to let you know! In the meantime, I'll keep taking inspiration from You and Others like You :)
