I want to say this simply cause its confusing to me long sword has so many counters because each weapon has a theme and use case the counters are ways to forward and build into being a reactive swordsmen who can flow into getting that red bar up until then your dmg stops at a halt and waits while you chip away with your base hits and counters to build back into that momentum Best way i can sum up every weapon Switch axe= dance between two forms to build into heavy dmg and explosions Insect glaive= your ability to keep up with your insect and knowing your next move Heavy bowgun = A monstrous weapon with practice and even without practice can be amazing as you can pepper down a monster at range or even better burst through it so fast youll forget it existed Light bowgun=similar to bowgun but is a weapon ive never played alot but can assume it has some better qualites of life Dual blades = focus on your ability to dodge and shred through parts and evade while swinging fast with stamina management Gunlance = The boomstick lance with less defense then the lance but higher dmg Lance = stick to the monster like glue with consistent damage and often the monsters sole focus with the right plan and decoration Hunting horn = Hammers supportive brother who buffs the whole party and everyone loves it can be a great knockout weapon and a great buff to everyone Hammer = God we love you bonking hear stick Long sword = Countering and spirit slashing to get to red bar for a burst in damage For reference i main and use 4 weapons (Heavy bowgun,longsword,lance, hunting horn)
