I think the reason why Chara asks YOU to try a different route is because it doesn't understand YOU anymore, YOU sold your soul to bring the world back, to seemingly undo your mistakes. So imagine how a demon would react to you selling your soul only to kill everyone again.

I just realized hat chara came back to life at the end of the genocide route because it takes every monster soul for the equivalent of one human soul.

I really don't get why people think it's possible Chara is not a villain. Even on the BEST possible route, where if Chara's morality was up to the player they should be a pacifist, Asriel says "Chara wasn't really the greatest person" and "Chara hated humanity" while relating a tale of how Chara wanted to kill humans in the village. The very definition of pacifism is not striking back when others strike out at you - it's not a coincidence the route is called that, and that you can't kill ANY monsters to get the best ending. Topping all this off is that on the worst possible route Chara is a straight up omnicidal maniac.

Even though chara isn't really the evil that we thought they were i still think they are a little twisted like their hate for humanity as chara wanted to kill the humans in the village but asriel did not but they could have also wnated to kill them in like the form of self defence and to take the human souls but that is just my theory I don't know if im making any sense i just wanted to get this off my chest if im wrong you can corrected me

Nice. I think Chara and the player are really one and the same, and the whole thing is a meta commentary on the twisted enjoyment of players playing video games.

I think delta rune universe is the result of the ending of Undertale, like frisk in an attempt to save Chara too fuzed together and created a new universe. There’s probably a billion holes in that theory

My personal theory is that Chara, like Frisk, had the power to reset because, like all humans, Chara had a massive amount of Determination. What this led to was Chara living multiple lifetimes in the Underground, never being able to truly die. This endless loop slowly drove them mad until they were willing to resort to any means to break the cycle. And Frisk may have suffered a similar fate, eventually leading to the No Mercy (TH-cam doesn't like the G word) Run.

So I believe that Neautral is the first journey of Frisk. Frisk regrets killing any monsters so Frisk resets and continues. After this reset is when I think chara awakens. Chara narrates everything in the game , but at the beginning Chara either possesses u to kill or Frisk overcomes thus leading to genocide or pacifist

From what I’ve gathered, Chara is *power-hungry-NOT sadistic.* That’s why they’re so puzzled after a second Genocide Route: they got all the power they could. There was no reason to return to the “pointless world”-they outright stated that the next logical step was to “move on to the next.” The only reason you would want to do that all over again is because you enjoyed the feeling of killing them. That’s what Chara means by the “perverted sentimentality.” Chara lacks empathy, much like Flowey. However, Flowey’s lack of empathy is a result of his nature; he is literally incapable of love, so he gets his kicks from sadism. On the other hand, Chara *rejected* their empathy in the pursuit of ultimate power. Every death increases EXP, which in turn increases LOVE. As such, every death has a “point” in furthering their goals. It’s a never-ending quest for a never-ending being. *Chara chooses efficiency over morality.* They laughed at Asgore’s poisoning because they realized how to achieve their big plan. When they told Asriel that “big kids don’t cry”, they were trying to reinforce this mindset of disconnection in order to kill the humans. Asriel hesitated, and they both failed. You didn’t show such hesitation, and your plan *worked.*

Chara. Shorthand for character. I always hated that name. A large part of the genocide run is that it made itself purposfully as boring, frustrating, and tedius as feasable with the intention of making you throw up your hands and say "I give up" and just stop. That was always the best possible defense for a civilization with key players fully aware of the nature of the world and trying to save themselves. To ascribe a name that you didn't intentionally ascribe to your character has a sort of, subtle "othering" effect. People think of Chara as a character, when in fact it was you. It was you who walked back and forth for hours waiting for each monster to eventually spawn, it was you who decided it was worth cutting out all the minigames, all the puzzles, every other form of content besides the battles, and it's objectively a worse experience from a design standpoint. So it irks me that people constantly distance themselves from their own very intentional actions by othering "Chara". "Chara" doesn't exist in your playthrough. It was you, and it was always you, who committed genocide.

I personally think people hate Chara because she shows you how terrible your actions could be if you did what you did in genocide route in real life. Most people want to blame Chara because they don't want to take the blame. Let's just remember that this is in the end a game and it uses psychological horror. Don't blame yourself because the reality is you never did any of that. Anyway, regarding a deeper interpretation of Chara... I don't think Chara was evil. Toriel is wise and can sense when a person is bad. I don't think she'll love anyone who would be as evil as Chara is displayed in the Genocide route. Regarding Chara in the Genocide route... from what I know about spirits of the dead... The dead spirits do not live consciously. They live inside a memory made from the life they lived. The actions of Frisk/the player where they killed the monsters who attacked them awakened certain memories of Chara when they were attacked and wanted to kill and destroy the ones who attacked them and wanted to destroy them. Though Chara wasn't evil, she died a traumatic death which made her soul contain an evil desire, a desire to destroy all that came to harm her. Don't forget. The monsters who we encountered were trying to kill you. In one way, the enemy monster's attack on Frisk (who unknowingly carried a remnant of Chara's dead spirit), are responsible for awakening Chara's corrupted wishes from their traumatic death. The monsters are as equally to be blamed for what happened in the Genocide route. Therefore, the players are not completely at fault. In the end Chara is dead. And yes, from whatever knowledge I have about dead spirits, if the living perform an action near a dead spirit that evokes a bad memory to them, the dead spirits will do something bad. Some dead spirits have the ability to possess the living. Therefore, it is important to properly maintain the grave of a person who died a traumatic death and that near the grave the living should behave properly. I guess Toriel shouldn't have buried Chara there. It was a bad location for burying the body. That's all I can say.

Considering when you have Frisk walk up to something, *THEN* press the "Ey, yo, Chara! Narrate, ya big flowery nerd!" button, I'd say you're always Chara second directly, even if primarily passively via. Perhaps after gibbing SuS, you still effectively "control" Chara, up until the aftermath of the ending, I.E, the autonumous Frisk part(s). Wait, I'm starting to think we *ARE* Frisk. Am I Kris Deltarune? And is xXxDickMaster69xXx Chara post genocide?

Chara was a misguided child in my eyes because they just wanted to free the monsters, there family. They were very scared when they were on the surface because of the way they were acting & getting punished for it, there parents wanted to sacrifice (cleanse) there soul while at the ceremony (the humans religion.) They climbed the mountain because they wanted to get away from it all. They didn't want to die that way. They were driven insane after they died, watching those humans fall down, trying to make friends & when Frisk (us) came they didn't want to make friends anymore & wanted to destroy humanity using Frisk (us) instead. There goal being to destroy humanity no matter what it took.

I am a proud Chara supporter, as you may see by my account. I have thought of something that proves that the player exists. One: Flowey telling you, who he presumes to be Chara, to let Frisk live their life, which implies that they weren’t in control since the beginning. Two: Chara having a story in the first place, as well as “Chara” being short for Character, as shown in the code, where Frisk and Chara are labeled as “Mainchara” and “Truechara”. This implies that you control Chara, controlling Frisk, while nobody knows you even exist. Characters are controlled by the player, after all. Third: The end of genocide. You have a choice between erase and do not, despite them leading to the same result. If Frisk is never in control, then who is making that choice? YOU. You are the cause of everything. And, also, Chara’s shirt colors are intriguing… Other than the fact that the stripe on their shirt is either crème or yellow, depending on how you look at it. Chara’s shirt colors are Green and (sometimes) yellow, representing Kindness and Justice. Frisk’s colors are blue and purple, representing Integrity and Perseverence.

My favorite detail about the genocide route (and the reason why Chara tells us that our plan has "failed") is that, through Flowey's betrayal in killing Asgore before we get a chance to, we couldn't absorb his soul and escape the underground, essentially trapping us in an empty void forever.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN "maybe Kris is Chara or maybe not"??? KRIS IS LITERALLY CHARA! Well... Frisk-possessed Chara, BUT STILL! I mean, I if would get to be (or to TAKE) another body, despite my naked body looking different, I would still love to colors yellow and green and would still like to wear them. I would still like brown pants, I would still like chocolate and would be the same jerk who'd love to do mean (or even evil) pranks and be creepy. Not to mention the red eyes. We LITERALLY saw it in UNDERTALE how Chara took over THE ENTIRE BEING of Frisk just like a doppelganger and showed us her red eyes and smile, none of which were characteristic of Frisk. Deltarune is just their (Frisk's and Chara's) next world, after some time passed. Chara characteristically went back to be adopted in the Dreemurr family and also probably to be reunited with her friend.

my head cannon is that Chara was revived through a determination like substance called hate. Chara got the hate from the player killing they're friends and family and slowly takes control of the game on the genocide route because you lose the ability to make decisions throughout the genocide route. my delta rune head cannon is that kris is Chara's cousin or sibling that ran away or something then was adopted by the dreemurrs.
