How to draw background foliage in charcoal.
มุมมอง 129หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I show you how to draw leaves and foliage/forest floor type of backdrop. Backgrounds are often not included in pet portraits so many can feel intimidated by them if they are asked to include one. Foliage like this is also very busy looking and can look quite intimidating to draw but it really is rather simple. The supplies I use are listed below. Thanks for watching... Art Suppli...

Which number brush do you use for all that fine work? Also for individual whiskers?
Get a crate it helps to calm them a bit helps them get enough sleep
Use Fork For Texture?
Super expressive. That's what I'm loving, in addition to your talent; is that all your animals have a liveliness to them vs just being pretty, flat portraits.
That's just crazy how realistic his tongue & teeth are! Everything is, but that takes my breath away
Thanks....:)
Your ability is off the charts
Thank you....:)
fantastic talent!
Hi, I love your skill. You are an amazing artist. Thank you
Thank you....:)
I absolutely love your work! I have had 6 portraits from this artist. Every single one is so unbelievably precise in detail to each dog that she has drawn for me. I cannot wait to get my next one done. You have a phenomenal tallent that some can only dream of obtaining ✍️😍🙌🐾
Aw thanks....:) Looking forward to the next one....😃
As a painter, she has only one objective, "The resemblance of the model no matter what." 😊😊
That is what the client wants. Most pet owners want a resemblance to the model. There is no problem with that. Your problem with it is yours.
And if you can't see a technique or style (Yes youtube still shows me the unedited version of your comment) than that must mean your eyes are painted on lol...
As a client that has purchased 6 portraits to date from this artist, I can honestly say that I’d expect nothing less than such a precise resemblance of the subject to which she is drawing. She has an incredible talent. It would be very strange if she were to draw a portrait that didn’t resemble the subject. No one wants a portrait of their pet that looks nothing like their pet do they 🙄 and from reading your comment its irrelevant to the actual subject of the video. I’m sure many artists and aspiring artists find this lady’s tutorials very informative. I for one think she’s fabulous and very talented and I’m an extremely happy with my portraits!
I assume your comment is meant to be a positive one.
@@agilitylurcher From what they edited out, no lol...seems they get triggered by realism.
Also....could we see this vid in 'real time',? Thx
The plan is to add them all to my patreon in real time..
Thank you for your quick response ❤@@TmHudsonArt
Beautiful work! I am an artist with a Terv. Used to work in ouls...acrylics for many years. Not painted for a couple years.....getting back to it. Would you please show the process of painting eyes ? .. Thank you so much❤
Suuuuuch a beautiful cat, looks like one of mine so much. Beautiful drawing as well❤❤❤❤
Thank you....:)
Love your style. Thanks for sharing!. Would be great to see a tutorial on eyes👀💖
Thank you. There are a couple of eye tutorials, one for a dog and one for cats although i do plan to do more.

Your painting space certainly doesn't affect the quality of your work. This is brilliant! You've really captured their happy expressions.
Thank you....:)
thanks for another amazing video & painting!! now i know what a "skip" is. for us in the usa, it would've been called the trash or the garbage (possibly something else if you live outside of new england, usa - if someone else from usa has another name for it, please let me know). the idea of this work of art being accidentally thrown away.... unimaginable. i'm so glad it was saved and unhurt by the unfortunate events.
A skip is specifically a large open topped waste container often used for shows/events or clearing gardens/yards etc...usually hired from companies who then come take them away after a set time. It is in reference to the container itself and not its contents. I think a few of us would have been completely mortified had this not been rescued in time...there may have been a divorce take place LOL....
@@TmHudsonArt depending on the size, i believe we in the usa would call that a "dumpster". ours are quite large, made of steel, and delivered by truck to be set on the ground. the garbage collection trucks can hook onto them, tilt them and dump the contents into the garbage truck. thank you for expanding my "British" vocabulary (unless it is a more local vocabulary). :-)
@@MG-vo7yn From what i can gather, your dumpsters have lids. We also have that sort of rubbish container but skips do not have a lid. They attach to chains that are lifed onto a truck and transported that way. Google skip and they should come up...
Absolutely stunning.
Absolutely stunning.
Thank you....

Wonderful Video. Could you tell me which colors you used for the first and second kitty ?
Bit of a tarn accent while I'm in Thailand makes me feel like I'm still home 😅 Got some cracking art talent! ❤️
Glad to be of service in some way....😂
I am painting five Pugs, a Dachshund and Doberman. Struggling wth the base colour of the creamy colour of the Pugs' undercoat. What colours are you using for this? Great start x
Hi...i painted this a few years ago now so can't recall exactly but if i was painting it again, I'd like use white, burnt umber and a touch of yellow ochre for pug cream. Obviously in various ratios depending on how light I wanted it.
Thank you for your time!!! Your helping me through my first dog portrait!! Thank you for teaching such valuable information!!😊
You're welcome and glad you found it useful....:)

What a beautiful dog, Toni, beautifully rendered. Thanks for sharing.

Love this painting! Hope you continue to grow; you are fabulous and Thank You for sharing your work.
Thank you...:)
Thank You for posting this video!
Hi, I love watching your videos - you inspired me to start painting seriously again and I’m so grateful 😊Do you have any videos about how to paint textures on muzzles, particularly on short nosed dogs?
The closest tutorial I currently have is the pug series which is in 3 parts but it was the fur on the forehead where there's wrinkles.... I haven't had any short nosed dogs in acrylic for a while..it has been mostly collies for starters....all depends on what people commission me to do.
Great painting, as usual. Beautiful
Thank you....:)
uff... so many hairs...Nice.
Fantastic art work...can you tell me what paint you blocked out with. Also it would be helpful if you could tell us what colours you are using as your painting. I can see the black, but when your painting the lighter colours it would be helpful to describe as you go along . I'm very new to this so really appreciate a full description as it will give me more confidence....thank you...your very talented xxx
Hi...it is an old video now so will try to improve things in the future....:)
Thanks!
Thank you so much.....:)
I love your accent! Get em Shadows,
Thanks lol..
Do you do work shops?
Not at this time....
do you gesso the paper first? beautiful
I have done to a few but I gave it up....had been doing it without for years and just gave it a try for a few paintings but it was so much messing and also didn't make things any easier so i just stopped again. I am sure to use the heaviest weight paper and it copes fine.
So stunning
Thank you...x
Love!
Your work is absolutely amazing. I could only wish to achieve realism, however the stress would kill me. You are an inspiration as I journey through pet portraits. I love this video because you share so much and as an artist and teacher fit a few decades now, I so can’t resonate with what you share. Thanks so much for all you do!
You're welcome and just enjoy doing whatever style you find fun. Not everyone needs to do realism.
Nice
