We actually can be drawn against Chelsea and City, rules do not apply to Quaters and Semis
That close range header from Hurtig, I think you can see from her reaction jolting backwards that she didn't see the ball coming until very late. Like it surprised her that the ball hit her head. Otherwise that would obviously have been a tap-in.
For info, Mariona scored 100% of the penalties she took for Barcelona last season. You could hardly ask for a better pen taker. I think fans in general are very quick to find faults with the manager when their team under-performs. In the 22/23 season Arsenal were a hair away from playing the UWCL final, closer in fact than Chelsea were in their semifinal. So he must have done something right, at some point. Then, for some inexplicable reason, UEFA forces top teams like Arsenal and others to qualify for the main tournament - and not exactly against Mickey Mouse teams, but against other big league runner-ups. Again Arsenal loses a pen shootout and the whole 23/24 season is kind of a failure before it even began. I think that did more damage to the team (and the manager) than we realised at the time. The way I interpret what I've seen from Arsenal this season is the squad seems scarred from that early exit. A team that is full of anxiety and fear of losing is bound to under-perform. In which case they need a mental coach more than they need a new manager. But Jonas too must've suffered from anxiety and fear of losing, he seemed overly cautious in how he managed the starting 11 and subs. So it was probably the right decision for him to leave anyway. (And it was his responsibility to bring in a mental coach, if that is what was needed). But I don't see Arsenal improving without first reclaiming their confidence. Of course that can happen in a lot of ways: Maybe a handful of younger players - too young to be afraid - shows the way and pulls the whole team ahead. Confidence, much like fear, is contagious. We shall see. Looking forward to following Arsenal, I believe that squad has a potential far above what we've seen them perform. And I do believe Kafaji could be a revelation, if she is allowed some consistency.
You guys have more "insider" knowledge than me, but can you shed any light on Lina Hurtig? Is it just co-incidence that she makes it back into the team just as Jonas has left? Or was Jonas the reason she wasn't in there?
The club have kept there lips sealed on the subject for the last year. We doubt we will get any answers at this point. Lina has been returning from a minor injury. Which is understandable why she may not of been picked. Again, speculation as we don’t know what happens behind closed doors We were all surprised when she came on against Valerenga. It’s so good to have her back.
Hi guys. Just wondering if you have had any thoughts or plans to update the opening credits since we're in a post Viv era, or do you see them as a nice tribute to her legacy with the club now? - Just wondering.
Hi Martin, it's some that Lottie is looking into at the moment but it will remain as it is for now :)
Play our Forwards right the Goals will come
Feel your pain Lottie being a shorter person and sitting at home flaming DAZN wouldn't Load🙄 so missed it, thank goodness for TNT

Clear blue sky, but Brrrrr, Winter is coming!
Absolutely 🤣
So, Caitlin Foord then ... After all the criticism last season for ( mostly ) poor decision making in the final third and no end product I hold my hands up and tip my bobble hat to her for scoring almost a seasons worth of goals in a single match. Lets hope she can keep that up in the WSL.
I think we all do but there’s a lot of questions still
Pedanticism? Surely you mean Pedantry ... :)
Brilliant show guys 👏👏
Thank you Grant! Keep an eye out for next one there maybe a cameo from Laura in the next show!
Welcome Back guys and galls. New season, New Hope etc.

Great Insight and Welcome to The Arsenal Super Mario
Where does the 2nd half of the Leicester game come in ur views. Kyra to replace Vic now for midfield?
Will there be an entire episode on Jonas Eidevall?
Hi Anton, we covered Jonas Eidevall in part one 😁
Should have scored jonas for his decisions and tactics
Hi Maxine, we covered Jonas in part one of the final review. This was covering the midfield and forwards as the pod would of been too long otherwise
Sorry to say it was 2011 on my Birthday Adam was when she played against us in the Champions League and Lottie can show you the photo?
Thanks Emerson!
You realise Chelsea have a new manager. Playing them before the season starts allows us to see how they play. If we were to get them in tbw first game, we would go in blind.
Yes we are very well aware of this. They are bringing in their own coaching staff too. I think that preseason will be more them getting a measure of us if anything. Not long till fixtures are out though so we will see where we will be starting post preseason and CL qualification
Certainly biased saying this as a US fan, but agree with what Adam suggests, a big part of our problem with going out in the Champions League qualifying round was we had no preseason and the team had barely had an opportunity to play with each other and gel. Combining more of a proper preseason + gifting the experience to US fans = two birds, one stone.
Agreed. However plus to this is that the girls do get a little bit of a break. Safe to say we weren’t impressed that they scheduled the A league game straight after end of season. Especially since with European qualifiers and the olympics to prepare for. The scheduling is crazy!
Lovely Fitting Tribute Viv a True Legend ❤🤍
Pure stubbornness and incompetence from Jonas and the Arsenal board. Jonas is out of his depth, his man management is poor. He doesn't know how to fit an WSL and Arsenal great in Miedema back in the side. He signs Kyra Cooney-Cross but doesn't play her. Its a joke, Viv rejected offers from Barcelona the best team in Europe to stay and play for Arsenal over the years. For Arsenal to not offer her a contract when she hasn't had the best of times due to the injury which happens its football, injuries occur.. its honestly a disgrace to see. I hope Jonas and Clare Wheatley both go ASAP. We have now strengthened our rivals in Manchester City. Dumb move as from Jonas' mouth we want to compete and win major trophies. In order to win major trophies you need players like Viv in the team! Lastly you can see from Viv's emotional and heartfelt leaving message she did not want to go. The players posts also show it too how gutted and sad they are. If Viv wanted to leave she would have stated it in her statement like Rafa did. She didn't. This is a bad bad day for Arsenal & Arsenal fans. #JonasOut To Viv: As Wally said.. Go Shine. Go to a team where the coach appreciates you and has you motivated.
This is from Wikipaedia about Clare Wheatley. "In 2020, Arsenal Women were fined £50,000 for discrimination after it was found by a Football Association tribunal that Wheatley had fired a youth coach who had been diagnosed with autism.[8]" They have been criticised for their lack of diversity due to a total absence of ethnic minorities. Hope they get a thumping in Melbourne, then maybe there will be a clanging reality check about the management. All sympathy for the players.
well this is me set up for the night 😁
Obviously we all know the result now, but those score predictions you all gave. Well done Adam. Oddly it was similar to how it ended earlier in the season when Stina pops up to win it right at the end of the match.
Do we have a song for Fox yet? I'm not sure if you guys have any influence on such matters, but we don't have a song may I humbly suggest the following to the tune of Fox on the Run by the Sweet ( ask your parents ) : "Fox on the run / she wins the ball from everyone / then she runs / dribbling for fun / at such a pace / Fox is on the run / 2, 3, 4 ( repeat ) or: "Fox on the run / she wins the ball from everyone / then she runs / tackling for fun / she's in your face / Fox is on the run / 2, 3, 4 ( repeat )
‘Kids in America’ song has been adapted to her. "Emily Fox from America Woah, Emily Fox from America Woah, What sight to see her in the red and white"
I thought Steph had her best game in ages ( contribution to the 2nd goal was great ). I've never seen her play as a centre back before and I thought she looked good in there. More of a physical presence than Leah who might be better placed in midfield just in front of the defence.
Couldn't agree more
"an" Emirates party guys 😘
We will get Lottie to sort it thanks martin
Thanks fot the spot Martin!
@@lottie6361 😘
Afternoon good summary of our final Emirates Game and lovely to meet Lottie all be briefly and was too cold for me and now got a bit of a cold 🤧
Great seeing you too Ang! Feel better soon!
My favourite goal at the Emirates: This season vs Chelsea. Amanda from the corner kick for our 2nd on the day. The Emma Hayes touchline reaction was the cherry on the icing.
Question : Which came first, the "24 - Lacasse" or the "Bukayo - Saka" version of the Voulez-vous chant?
Originally, it was Bukayo Saka but it did not pick up amongst the fans as it was ABBA. Now slowly coming through as Chloe’s is the smash hit of the season
Great stream people 😊🫡🫡🫡.
Thanks Alex!!
Lost Adam 😂😂😂
Guro was in Fox's pocket
COYGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
G🔴⚪️D Afternoon great show great result and still buzzing ARSENAL ❤️🤍
Absolutely
I think there was also a LWM handball missed earlier in the match.
Completely agreed!
Good morning Lotte Adam Matt ‘A Game of two Halves’ World Class GK, Stina’s a Handball Legend and big respect to your AV Guests
Morning Ang! Definitely was. Stina was sheepish and knew she did wrong. Could have won the game either way. Thank you for the support as always ❤️
No response required, it’s over. Win the conti cup to restore some pride (but I seriously doubt it), but other than that look further afield for a manager that can win the league with the serious squad they’ll inherit directly. Thanks, but no thanks Jonas.
Sockgate damn you Chelsea but we move and thank you for keeping it lighthearted can’t be doing with Meltdowns
I see 59 Views and only Ten Likes c’mon viewers 👍🏻
I have a question which is baffling me and I can't find a satisfying answer to. Why do the England Lionesses have to qualify for Euro 2025? Surely as holders they should qualify automatically along with the hosts, Switzerland? It's unthinkable but entirely possible that the holders and hosts do not qualify. Who decides these things?
Hi Martin, that makes things too easy for the holders. if it was germany that won the euros and you look at them now. Would you want them to automatically qualify with the form they are now and what we saw in the world cup?
@@VicAkersWonderland The form they're in right now ( the Austria and Italy games ) they look like a shoo in to qualify. I think I got this notion from the mens game and I didn't realise that in 2002 they abandoned it for the World Cup in 2006. Still, it gave you all some content for the following podcast.
NLD not the best Game BUT as I called it out One Nil to us and taking into account of International Break…job done
Now I prioritise with Arsenal Women and The Men’s is Secondary
Morning 😊 and Spot On Squad is too big and hit n miss at present
Morning Ang, will not be a problem next season with european football back hopefully
I read somewhere today "Arsenal Women filling stadiums, Arsenal Men emptying them" ( this was after the latest mass exodus at Bramall lane when we went 4-nil up before half time )
Love this comment! We laughed so much at it because it’s so true 🫶🏻
Good to see LWM getting a start and on the scoresheet
Hopefully this will be a regular thing with LW and the AG can move back out to LB Time to try things before qualifiers is always a plus
