Whether a writer or a filmmaker, we have experienced the same doubts and resistance. I want to build this community where we don't feel alone during this journey and where we can share the ups and downs together.

You're a keeper of a notebook. A wonderful notebook of your own.
Thank you! ☺️
I just found your channel and I feel like you’ve changed my life in a short hour. Thank you for sharing your journals with us and your strategy. I’m the same way when it comes to journaling that if I don’t see it I don’t remember it exists but this just seems so fun and creative I can’t wait to try it this year!
Thank you so so much! Your words mean a lot to me. I’m so glad you find it’s interesting. Happy journaling!
@ thank you!
This is so beautiful. Wish you the best for 2025!
Thank you so so much! Best to you as well! 💛
❤❤❤Know Thyself, Love Thyself❤❤❤
Another deeply brilliant video and expose on a life well lived. 👏 amazing ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤ Holy Moly 😍❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sometimes someone with a lot of stress, a "big load" they are dealing with, overwhelmed will get back problems that are not physical, but expression of our inner world and what I've come to see with my patients is they lack structure or the load to too heavy or not enough support...so the body lives out the subconscious signal through lower back pain. Especially if your back pain came on during your most stressful times. Just a thought, not a diagnosis. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ 🌶 🌶
Thank you so much! I think it’s definitely a combination of stress and bad sitting posture. I have herniated disk due to long sitting with a bad chair. I’m much better now.
@NaniLiYang so when you do your meditation, I recommend, sitting quietly with the thoughts on structure and support. Because you brought up shame as one of your core inner wounds, see what's comes up and if anything connects for you in your meditation 🧘♀️ And if a inner wound from childhood or anytime comes up see what that psychic pain is telling you and what you need to heal it. And if you can hear the answer and find all this in meditation I'm willing to bet you bad posture, sitting all day and disk issues start to heal. This is the psychoanalytic approach to physical healing connecting the mind, body and soul. I'm a true believer in the relationship between our physical and mental worlds mirroring one another. Again, just my suggestion, not a diagnosis. I've seen this kind of thing before and a lot of healing of physical suffering once the inner world suffering gets connected consciously and felt and forgiveness and healing takes place. 🙏
Can you please tell me where the tracker stamp is from or who it is made by? It is perfect
Hi, Did you mean the stamp I use to track my mood? if so, I bought it on a Chinese Website called Taobao; it's a small business, so they are not big brands you can find outside of China. I will leave the link here: bit.ly/42kXriI It might be a bit tricky to navigate since the language is in Chinese, and when you put in your address, they will ship the item to an international shipping center, and then you'll have to pay for shipping there. A bit complicated so I will leave this video right here, this girl will walk you through how to shop on TaoBao: th-cam.com/video/m_Iu7HxP-fs/w-d-xo.html I think it's worthwhile to figure out how to use Taobao because they have so many small businesses on there, and their stuff is cute at a good price.
i am a snail slow reader and keep rereading pages as i forgot. plus i tend to fall asleep very easily. my cure is to read aloud …. yes aloud! plus i stopped to use a dictionary on unfamiliar words! i thought it would spoil the flow but to my surprise, it is like active reading. someone else mentioned that it’s not consumption but the digestion of information that needs to be balanced.
I’m exactly the same to your first paragraph. Hahah! Reading out loud is also one of my tactics. It’s very helpful. Thank you for sharing about the idea of digestion balance 💛 thanks quite interesting
thanks so much for sharing so honestly. the evolution of your journal is amazing 🤩
i use post it notes as tabs for habit trackers or frequently referred to pages
That’s a good idea. I’m going to try tab these pages too. Thank you!
my first bullet journal was so so messy as my layout didn’t quite work despite spending so much time setting up a spread! so my solution: - setup a weekly spread so i can change my mind every week - gradually added/removed columns or sections each week - use washi tape to hide places where i changed my mind
It's clear you went through the process of "try and error" in order to make your journal work for YOU. That's the purpose of journaling! Loving the idea of using washi tape to cover up things. Thank you for sharing.
Your journal is so beautiful! How do you usually print those pictures? Do you just print on normal A4 paper and cut them, or do you use a photo printer? I wanted to try but also worrying the pictures get faded over time.
Great question!! Let me make a detailed video about this. I’ll make it very soon. But to answer you short. I do both! I print with my Epson ET4800, and also print with my picture printer from cannon. I’ll post the video in a couple of weeks. Thank you for liking my journal!
@ Thanks for the reply 🥰 Looking forward to your new video!!
Really enjoyed this; thank you for sharing...sometimes I need a little reminder that my journal is for me and there are no rules to what I can put in it. I also use a Hobonichi Cousin; I found you through your 2025 set up video just over a week ago. Tuning in from Toronto, Canada <3
Thank you for your sweet common and support my video! I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed it. Happy journaling ☺️
Spectacular ❤
Thank you! Ryan!!!
@NaniLiYang if you ever have children, what a gift they will have to know their mother and see your life and work in such a fun and organized manner. I thought all your keyboard convention page was so you! I love watching how you organize your brilliant mind. So much fun watching a brilliant creative move through your inner dialog and it looks like it's all in English too! Wow, even in a second language. So beautiful and such an expression and experience of life. Some days are full, some days are empty, some weeks are packed, some weeks are focused elsewhere ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@NaniLiYangam I the Ryan at 8:15?! Did I make the journal?!?! ❤❤❤❤❤
I would Love for you to make a film one day, where your story is told through your journal. Everything your style, your music, your handwriting, your script you use in your videos...and we move through the story by flips of a page and we fall into the page, we fall into the pictures on the page and then we are in a mirror 🪞 world with actors living out your writings and pictures. Each page, each paragraph, each day each week is a masterpiece waiting to be discovered, reviewed, relived and lived as a one who reads and explores your brilliant works. Could almost be interactive where a user could electronically flips pages and click on your stories and pictures and be brought into all the worlds you create for us to explore. Your so beautiful, you have such a beautiful soul. Listening to the excitement in your voice, the details of your day. All beautiful moments ✨️ ❤️ i think your style, I think you are a wonderful storyteller. 😊 so interesting and calming and familiar and leaving me wanting to know more. So fun! Such fun details ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@ryucayenneofffical hahahah! That’s right! I was very touched by your comment!
You describe your professional life as "full time film director." How great is that? What a journey you've captured on this channel. From trying to get the movie finished and out there. And then trying to get out of your day job. And you keep succeeding and documenting it for us on this channel. Really great stuff. Inspiring and illuminating. And it continues! When you turned the journal to write from a different angle that really got my attention. When you direct film full time you, I imagine, are constantly looking at ordinary situations and figuring out how to look at them in a fresh way. That seems to be spilling over into all your activities. And a good lesson for all of us. The answer, the refreshment, the new idea, whatever it is may be right in front of us. Turn the book sides ways. Consider from a different angle or perspective. Maybe things are right there. Change our POV. You spoke about bad mood days and good mood days but you should know your films always put me in a great mood! Freeing creativity,. So consistently. You're definitely onto something special here.
Thank you! Mike! What you said about constantly looking at ordinary situations in a fresh ways is so resonate with me. The type of content I direct has been growing so fast that things used to attract audience last year is already out dated, and we constantly have to think about better visual and design to make things stand out. Sometimes, I experiences mental block when I try to come up with new ideas, and now reading what you said made me realizing the resistance is coming from creativity muscular stretch. It's all about exercising creativity. Thank you!!! 🙏🏼
Your videos always come at the perfect time, Nani! Thank you for the inspiration and encouragement! :)
I'm so glad! I hope you enjoy this years journaling! 💛
What kind of camera are you using to film this video? What kind of camera is that at 5:40?
It’s Cannon M50 in white.
@ thanks!
You can use a blotter instead so you can preserve that beautiful pencil board.
That’s a great idea! Thank you!!🙏🏼
Oh my goodness it feels like you’re really back! The annual joy of deciding how we are going to g to plan, measure, track, record, reflect - the tapestry of the year - our past, present and future meet in our planners. Your approach this year is less pressure on the front end - only one or two priorities for the day and on the back end, jotting down highlights. I’m intrigued by the separation of the TH-cam journal and how it fits in. You mentioned how you don’t see certain pages and so you don’t use them consistently and it made me think of Cal Newport and his daily “shut down” ritual. That might include a visit to the pages you want to see? You don’t have to remember 4 different pages just one thing: do the daily shut down ritual. Anyway, Bible in a year! I’m doing one of those this year with Father Mike of ascension press. It doesn’t take more than twenty minutes a day. He reads and then he’ll talk a few minutes about what was read. I am learning and getting exposed to a lot. You mentioned an hour of reading so I just thought I’d let you know this one is twenty minutes a day and takes you through whole Bible in a year. I am excited about vision board video coming up! I saw Joan Didion in there, she’s great. Did you see the documentary her nephew did on her? It’s on Netflix I think. Or prime. I’ve watched it a couple of times. Finally, Commonplace Book! You must do a video on that! LA directors commonplace book would attract viewers. People seem to love videos on commonplace books. I know I do. I’m excited to see your plan for a lot of videos. It’s like an old friend has moved back into the neighborhood and I’ll be seeing a lot more of her now! 😂🎉 🎬✍️🖊️✒️📚
@michaelm7823 I'm back!!! haha! reading your summary of my planner setup made me realize this is probably the first time I'm intentionally decluttering things I want to achieve. The "shut down" Ritual is such a good idea. I'm going to apply for a couple of months to see if I can stick to it. Which Father Mike exactly? I did some research. Is it Father Mike Schmitz? if not, could you share a link with me? I'm currently reading with Bible App, the reading itself is short, but the interpretation is the tricky part. Too many options out there, I do need some recommendations. Hahahah! I'm very excited to bring back many videos. Thank you so much, Mike! Seeing your messages IS like moving back into town and knocking on an old friend's door!

Thank you so so much for your kind words! ❤️
Hey Nani hope you are doing well. Just wanted to appreciate you and your team. I was not convinced at first that I would like vertical story telling format but it was really nice experience. Super easy to binge watch and I can tell you are a great director. It is just a beginning there is so much more to come your way! Also recently I was wondering about how everyone is worried about A.I taking over the entertainment industry and was wondering your chit chat video and your thoughts about the topic will give a good perspective specially to the indie artists. I know you are busy right now but whenever you get time please consider sharing your views on it till then I will enjoy your previous videos. Take care and stay blessed always. Lots of love!
Thank you so much for such thoughtful comment. I too had experienced a transition period towards the vertical format. I’m excited for its future. What a great idea on the topic of A.I. I’ll be sure make a video about it the next year since I do have a lot to say. 🥰
Wowwwww. I wanna watch your movie!
One of my solution is having a ideas jar. Sometimes i think about doing a THING but i cannot decide what to do or i dont want to decide what to do, i dont have energy to decide what to do, so I scroll instead. I made a ideas about what to do instead of scrolling and i randomly pick one idea and do that. Sometimes I use my phone to record myself while doing that idea so when I try to use my phone - it’s busy. I also try to consume longer content while doing that idea so it also helps. For example, I watch a movie whle knitting so i do not leave a space for the phone.
These are so good! So much self awareness. You are so right, sometimes just pick the thing to do quickly. Working on any ideas is better than scrolling. Thank you for sharing!!
I want 😅
i want to try something like this without spendind money on the brick. anybody has any suggestions?
Use iPhone you can set up different focus mode. In each mode, you can hide apps of your choice. I have used that function before and it worked for me for a while. Maybe you can give if a try. The only down side is that the hidden apps are still accessible, it’s just not showing on the screen of your phone directly
Thank you for the video! I'm going to get that brick haha. I just want to say, you say that you're lazy, don't want to move and won't even refill your water glass when you're thirsty. I'm newly diagnoses with ADD and can relate to that behaviour a lot. Have you ever suspected that you might have ADHD? This sentence is obviously not enough to diagnose off of or anything haha, it just set off a little familiar bell in my mind that it might be worth looking into more, if this inability to "just do something" that needs doing is a big pattern in your life.
That’s a bit of useful information right there.Good to know. Yes, I have suspected and requested a test not long ago. Thank you so much for sharing! 🥰
@@NaniLiYang Then I wish you good luck in your testing! :-) It's funny how we can recognize each other in such small things haha.
I really want to start leaving comments on Contet that I Consume. It helps to break the endless scrolling and it helps the creator. So far I haven’t been successful but it’s worth a try. The brick looks really interesting and maybe I’ll try it out. But until I can get it maybe I’ll try the other app you recommended. Thank you for your video and hopefully I can also break my scrolling cycle <33
I hope the app is helpful for you! Thank you so much for the comment! That’s very kind and thoughtful of you. All the best to you! 💛
the “brick” looks a great product to use! thank you so much for sharing it
I’m so glad 🥰 I hope it’s helpful for you!
I found this helpful actually, I was able to get some chores done while listening to your video instead of scrolling 😅😃🙌🏾
I'm so glad to hear that! I too find much more calming and mentally productive to listening to a long video instead of scrolling on visual shorts. Thank you for sharing this with me. ❤️
The deep breath is soo good. It made me more intentional with what i was doing. Great video
Right? It works so well! Thank you for sharing ☺️
Much love to you for your art and your being here. We are here, together, but often we feel separate. Your work is unitive... namaha.
Thank you so much! This means a lot!! 🙏🏼💛
I hope you feel better soon! Dental procedures are no fun at all! When I had one done earlier this year, I was mostly on a liquid diet because it hurt too much to chew (even if it was scrambled eggs!😞). I was sooo frustrated, but thankfully, that's a thing of the past now. I like that lamp you made, you're very creative! I don't know why, but when you turned it on, it reminded me of a globe. Haha! 😆 Thanks for sharing a day in the life with us. It was interesting to see the behind-the-scenes aspect of your work routine. Take care and stay safe!
Thank you so much! My teeth are finally healed now. I was on an almost liquid diet too. It’s such a torture 🥹 I’ll so happy to hear you like the lamp! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. ☺️
Loved it, Nani!!
Thank you!!!😊
Your cat is so adorable and this video was lovely. :)
Thank you so much😊
interesting and all the best! :)
thank you so much!!
love the vlog, keep it up! No worries about the auto focus, you can always set it to manual focus for still shots, hope this helps! Edit: The hair twirl at 18:00, so adhd like!
@sirmcotter1277 Oh! That's right! I completely forgot that my manual focus exists. hahahahhh! Thank you!! now I know my hair twirl is also adhd like. Lamo 🤣

How are you so productive iam just wasting time and learning nothing but doom scrolling
Oh! Trust me, I scroll A LOT too. Part of the reason I haven’t been posting, is that I was so overwhelmed and tired, and scrolling became my default mode. I wasted hours and hours, sometimes entire weekend. Especially on the days when I don’t have to chase last minute deadlines. I think this is a common struggle, you are not alone. My vlog is just one of the day of a few months after all. When I decided to vlog, I tend to be more productive because vlogging is keeping me accountable. For the past 2 weeks I have been putting my phone in a different room when I work, and leave my phone out of my bedroom, I’m still tempting sometimes but it worked. At least for now. Best wishes to you. YOU ARE NOT ALONE❤️
@@NaniLiYang Damn even nani procrastinates 😂
nani i missed you on youtube!! ❤ i wanna see your projects, it’s so cool to hear how you’re learning and expanding! it makes me so excited to make stuff too ^^
i love the realization that you’re being paid to feel :’) can’t wait to see your desk set-up!
Thank you Tan!!!! 🥰I can’t wait to share everything with you when I see you! Here’s the first 15 minutes of my most recent show. th-cam.com/video/O-w1Uo6e4O0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-a1x-B4--JICNUIE
Nani, you are such a sweet feminine presence. Thank you for sharing your 2025 haul. I am trying the Kokuyo Jibun Techo next year, it is taking so long for it to get here. I so have a local[within 50 miles). The Paper Mouse 🐁 I might check out the Hobonichi lineup, though
Thank you so much!!! 😊 Just did some search, Kokuyo Jibun Techo looks nice! Simple, colorful and lightweight. I wonder what the paper feels like. Thank you for introducing it to us. The Paper Mouse looks exactly like the kind of stationary story where I will lose myself in.
I really want to pet your cat 😂 him plopping himself is so adorable
Awwww! thank you!!! He is my supervisor when I work at my desk. 😂
I’m all about cats too. And Hobonichi. Thanks for sharing your selections. My order this year was simple. An A5 Cousin, the cherry blossom snow globe weeks, and a Denali pencil board.
Thank you! 😊 Omg, I saw the cherry blossom snow globe at the pop-up store too, it so beautiful and cute at the same time. Those petals on the back! 😍
@@NaniLiYang I love the artists combination of natural themes with a touch of the animals she adds. It feels magical.
I love your cat and your stationary😊
Thank you so much!! ☺️
It feel good to see you again, Nani. Welcome home!
Awwwwww! Home!!! Thank you for saying that! ☺️
I noticed that the pen and journaling collection crowd collecting looks like an addiction, like drugs.
Yup, yup! 😂 hard to resist 😂
Your cat flopping directly down on your journal as you try to write is such classic cat behavior <3. Then I lol'd when you put the journal on top of him XD
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Your cat is the most precious thing I saw in the internet today. 😂
Awwwwww 🥰 thank you! I just told him what you said. 😁
