The biggest difference was how straightforward and cohesive Overwatch 1 was compared to 2. It was an experience that relied more on holding down an area as a unit, and all the characters were made in a way to sync that. You could, with your team, keep or nullify progress on a point just by being there and TRYING. It was DESIGNED kind of like a back and forth volleyball match. You were rewarded for being proactive and engaging with the point. If you held down a map for overtime for 5 minutes, win or lose, it was chaotic fun. You could make some mistakes or experiment, the main draw was stalling for time. The new characters they make have increasingly pushed yhe game into this obnoxious one shot match. They're not broken because they're new, they're broken cause they're not designed for the way the game was. They're a stick of dynamite in rock paper scissors, that can delete you from across a map with one move, not engaging with anything at all. A billion miles from the objective in this objective based cap, clicking the one pixel on your toe. Thats not fun. It's stagnant and irritating. And causes everyone to play the game as slowly and boring as possible. If Overwatch used to be a tug of war, 2 is like a boxing match were your opponent has pianos for fists. I genuinely miss the brawlier, fast paced days and I loved Reaper. Now, you can't play him because Sojurn does his point blank damage from any distance and just insta kills you. 5 v 5 was the worst decision ever, and now only one tank is responsible for their team, because as soon as they get rid of the other, they have a numbers advantage and they over buffed tanks, so every game is just "who has the better tank?"

This game was fun in 2016 when everybody was new to it, you didn't even care if you were winning or losing because you got to try out all these cool heroes, get some skins from lootboxes, and maybe even get potg. Now the only way you're having fun is if you're winning. Losing in comp fells absolutely terrible - you just wasted 15 or more minutes of your life on a game you got nothing out of, no competitive points, hell if anything you just dropped in rank. Add forced 50/50 on top of that and the game trying its hardest to keep you hardstuck by giving you unfair matches every time you climb even a bit and that means you're getting frustrated, blaming your teammates and giving up before the match is even over more than you're actually feeling like you're getting somewhere. Comp was what killed this game, it's my opinion multiplayer games automatically stop being fun if you're constantly worrying about dropping in rank. Somebody from a post which I forgot what was called said that when you're playing comp, having fun is a possibility, not the goal. That's a good way of putting it. Fuck this game, I'm done wasting my time and being miserable with it.
