Market Gardening How To Put In Hands Free Rows
Just came across your channel. found it very interesting from the usual semi circular tent type construction, what you have looks a lot stronger. I really liked your pallet jig solution for picking up the sections, made it much more manageable. ❤🇦🇺
Great video... im curious how its holding up? i live in north east Pa and we get some pretty decent wind gusts and a good amount of snow here and there. Just wondering if i should get a kit or not. thanks
Well I can only tell you how it’s doing here in Eastern Washington. We have severe winds here not just gust but sustained high winds. As for snow it’s very dry here so we don’t usually get heavy wet snow. But we did have it engineered to withstand more snow load than code. Thus being said it is doing amazing! We are now into our second winter season and we have had zero issues. The only thing we would like are doors on the front. We had awful dust storms this summer and doors would have been nice.
@@homesteadingwithblueskyranch Glad its doing well for you, ill definitely be getting myself one!
Hey everybody, I had voles ruined 20 new trees once!!!! Here is the easiest thing to do: get some metal window screen and a office stapler. Cut the metal screen so you can wrap it around the base of the tree up to maybe 12 or 15 inches. Doesn’t have to be a big piece. Then use the paper office stapler to just staple it in place. This is saved my bacon for many years.
Thank you so very much for sharing. Voles are no joke!!! So destructive! Even better wrap around the roots before planting❤️
Feeding the birds popcorn reminds me of my mom back in the hills of E Tn when i was jes-a-toe-head! She always loved to plant popcorn, She had planted a large field one yr. But it got so hot that yr it all popped in the field & the cows thought it was snow and they all froze to death! 🤣😂🙃
I love this! Thank you so much for sharing! Great story 🥰
Loved the finish, If you pre painted (rolled or sprayed on the ground), you would not have to tape... This way you would only have to touch up the scre holes, the edges of the plywood/chip board would be almost mint, then ask if ypu want to fill- which I don't think would be necessary...I just finished my dad's traditional 20' garage with chip board- ceiling too...looked great! also if the garage door bottom pannel was ripped in half with two extra rollers it would clear the door opening... I love your honesty!!!
We will try to incorporate your idea in our future builds!
I contacted Versatube and they say they do not sell this. Anyone else sell these?
This is a Versatube building kit we purchased. Of course they do not sell the shipping containers.
@@homesteadingwithblueskyranch yes, that was clear. But I described what you had done and they said they have nothing of the sort. What was the product name which you used? I think I just got the wrong salesman.
I've designed one of these
@@GregoryButler-u4p thank you for watching!
An interesting method of integrating the containers. I like it. Good job!
Thanks so much, we're glad you liked it! Thank you for watching!
That's amazing. You are a wonderful couple. I am a Korean TH-camr. I wish you good health and development
Thank you so much! We appreciate your kind words!!!!
You guys are ingenious! You just solved my winter pullet housing project. Keep the great ideas coming
Thanks! We hope it works out for you. Hope you share your project!
Beautiful job. We have something similar on my dairy farm. Question Shouldn't the metal for the sides been turned so it runs the long way instead of sideways?
Thank you so much for watching. This is how Versa Tube designed it. It’s definitely different than from a pole building with wood verses steel built.
Loved the solution for lifting the trusses!
It was a bit crazy but we got the job done!
This is really sad. Progressive did the same to my car insurance about 6 months ago.. no claims ever. The attack is not on just rural America.. it’s an attack on all of America. This is directly because of terrible policy makers in the swamp.. vote Trump or get swallowed up. Very sad but true
Thank you for watching. Yes it is sad and frustrating. And doesn’t seem like it will get better.
The tubes are only square depending on how you install them. You mean they are bent or warped however that doesnt matter as much depending on where they go. Metal tube can be not straight but still be useable as long as where its welded together its not cracking as far as the welded seam. Nice build tho.
Thank you for watching
Looks good, nice work.
Thank you so much
The back wall should've been ran up and down
This is 100% engineered and designed by VersaTube. Per their instructions. The metal is precut and only fits on the metal supports the horizontal direction . You can not turn it vertically and make it work. Normal pole buildings do put the metal usually vertically. Thanks for watching. 👍
I like it, good job!
Thank you so much!
What company, or where did you order your kit from?
We ordered through VersaTube. Comes freight on a semi. Thank you for watching.
I just finished watching your build. That's almost exactly what I want on my off-grid property to park my motorhome under. I'm thinking of getting one that extends past the containers in the rear by another 8' to give me a little room at both ends of my motorhome.
That would be a great idea! Or if you could drive through? Thank you so much for watching!
It’s not farmer dangerous until the extension ladder is in the fully extended bucket 😂
Oh my! Isn’t that a fact!!! Thank you for watching!
Snappy dresser. 🕺🏼
but was it stressful?!?
Of course but that also makes it super rewarding when it’s done ❤️
Really liked the video. Great job, windy as he'll out there. Lol
It is so windy! Thank you for watching!
Great design guys! I don't see a link for the strapping tho 🤔
Thank you so much! I will make sure we add that!

How much was the total cost
We will have a new video soon
Thanks for making this video. Did anything work?? We have a mice/vole problem and it's threatening our 3-year old fruit trees. Any advice? Did you save the trees?
Yes it did work. I lost one tree but only because they had chewed through the tap root. So this fall I will check the wire I wrapped and repaint them with my castor oil concoction and start putting coffee grounds again around them. They aren’t bothered here until there is nothing else to eat. But lots of wire as low as u can get it and a cage when you plant really helps. Good luck! 👍
Maybe in the next video you can actually let Tom talk!😂
Tom would rather get it done. So getting him to do a video would be great!
Take it easy! Tom's gonna be sleeping in one of those containers.
EXCELLENT CONNECTIONS!
Thank you very much!
I suspect you will have water problems where your knee wall meets the top of the shipping containers. The roof of the conex has a small crown in it, so water from half the shipping container and the entire surface area of your new roof will tend to be trapped in this connection area creating ponding and drainage issues.
Thank you for watching. We live in a very dry area. No water problems so far after over a year. But if you did have water concerns gutters on the shop would be the way to go. Thank you for watching.
No anchors on the shipping containers - good so far. But when you added the Versatube structure did the taxing authorities reassess your project? I put two shipping containers on my property without property tax consequences, but I fear if I did more they would do what they do best.
The shipping containers don’t need anchors. They are 10,000 pounds each then all the added weight from stuff stored in them. Not going anywhere here. Thank you for watching.
@@homesteadingwithblueskyranch Of course not, except in hurricane areas. I didn't anchor mine either, I suspect the addition of concrete to anchor to would be the trigger for taxation as structure. Did your roof system draw the attention of the taxing authorities?
Great video. Quick note. The front side is the side with MC4 Output Controller. That side should be up. Looks like it was backwards in the video. 😅 sometimes hard to tell with the bifacials
You are absolutely correct! We figured that out after the video 😂. Thank you for watching and sharing your comment.
what was the cost for the kit?
We will be releasing a video soon on this. Thank you for asking.
Excelente trabajo. Felicitaciones
Thank you!
My EcoFlow Delta has been my biggest homesteading mistake yet! I have had countless problems with it and it often dumps all of its power with no warning, leaving me in a big bind. I would never purchase an EcoFlow again.
Oh no!!!!!! I sure hope we have better luck! Knowing that we will need to put it through its paces before the warranty runs out! Did you have the first or second model?
And I thought our homestead was windy. How do you keep anything there? Looks like it's blowing away.
It is sometimes hard here for sure! It blows almost all the time! We have really learned to build here with serious anchoring. My corn and sunflowers did pretty good in this last storm. Lost a few! Thank you for watching and your comment!
Que chulada de tiempo
My guess is that some rain water from the container roof(s) is shedding into the shop area.
Nope. We sealed it using a silicone seal between the container and sides. No water at all. Thank you for asking!
great job , is this in Arizona or New Mexico , did I miss what your plans for the building was , also you could cut a side door in the containers it will keep you out of the hot sun , that would make an excellent repair shop for me , Frank T
We are in Eastern Washington. Thank you for watching Frank and for your questions. It’s just to store our rv and farm equipment.
Did Versatube replace those bowed posts?
Versatube offered to but we were in a crunch so used them and straightened them to the best of our ability.
Thanks for sharing your experiences and attempts to save the trees.
Absolutely!!! It’s a battle! Thank you for watching!
Thanks for sharing. Ps. Where are the trees? I’d get some trees planted They will feed your soil and create microclimates to improve the soil Microbiome and make your land much more fertile. Plus they will help Phil to the winds and reduce soil erosion. Also, they provide habitat for beds which will keep the piss down and fertilise your soil around the trees and elsewhere.
I appreciate you taking the time to watch our video. We have been unable to get any trees to grow here. The voles attack all the roots and we have extreme winds. But we do have huge gardens which do improve our soil. Thank you again!
Husband and wife turmoil 😮😅
Thank you for watching! Yes sometimes discussions are had lol 😂
I don't have a green house, but we had a house in Florida inside a screen lanai. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get a tan when I usually burn. The pool guy finally told me the screen on the lanai is UV protectant.
Well I guess it protects people too ❤️
Great video on shade cloth!!! Thanks
Thank you for watching!!!!
Pan slowly and widely over the scene so the viewer can see what's going on. I'm interested in details and when the camera is swinging around wildly I can't see as clearly as I could if you pan smoothly.
Thank you for watching. I am certainly new to this and will definitely try to get better ❤️
I self pollinated my cucumbers last year The bees 🐝 were not coming 😢
I’m still not seeing any bees. I check every day. I have lots of flowers blooming in my herb garden too. We had some very late frost though. 😞.
@@homesteadingwithblueskyranch still not much here either 😩 I’m trying the best I can but I think it’s the chemicals my neighbors spray Can not wait to live on a farm one day Good luck with the bees 🐝 & garden 🪴
Tom is an amazing Mr. Fixit!
Yes he is! There is nothing he can’t fix!
Thank you for these great ideas!!!!!!
I hope you find some treasures!
