TIPS YOU HAVEN'T SEEN BEFORE (Lanshen #1 Pro)
Hey, I just bought the primus 1l plus 0.6L set from outdoor action-just under £24 reduced from about £75! I'm hoping the set will go well with my Polymath Phantom stove that I've got coming. Looks like a really good option. I might use a pot gripper too, not sure if handles will get too hot.
Although I'm not a hammock camper Bex, I'm definitely going to try the sheepskin rug out. Thanks for the tips.
Your mad camping in that weather
Great to see you on a camp, not seen one for ages. Really enjoy the other videos as well especially the ' surplus - only '
Look extremely cold Bex good to see you out 👍😉HEALTH & HAPPINESS 2025...Happy Trail..🙏✌️
My Trangia burner works very well in my Firebox stove when I can't find wood.
First time I've ever seen that Primus pot Bex I think it would make a good upgrade for the no-name cheap aluminium pot sets seen all over Amazon/Ebay, etc Plus, as you pointed out, you get the bonus of a small frying pan too.

I wanny try an alcohol stove.
found this one the other day on trangia flame control. the gent found a can the same hright as the stove holder an a few mm's larger. 'Path2Go hack for alcohol camping stove flame control."
Great Ideas. Thank you for sharing them with us All the best Clive 🤠
Many thanks mate. A good bit of useful information. The use of the stove rope is an idea that is new to me. Cheers❤
Thankyou. I just got one after 50+ years of camping. I ordered it to brew up tea during my Europe and Iceland trip. It didn't arrive in time. Then two arrived, so now I'll pack one in my hurricane box. Hand sanitizer container for the meths. Will pass through security, too. Merry Christmas 🌲🌟
I was camping when something when wrong we with my regular stove. My alcohol stove saved the day! It was very windy but I had a wind gard. It worked to cook all are camping meals. Now I bring it every time I go camping.

Thanks for all the videos Bex - really appreciate everything across the different channels 👌
Thank you Bex, for this and previous videos. Greatly appreciated. Merry Christmas Mate from Australia.
Happy holidays!
Let me know your tricks and tips for this stove.
Thanks for the info Bex, You always make a great video 😃
With all the videos/information available regarding packing for camping, it still amazes me to see just how much excess gear some folk bring with them. Although I don't hike a lot, I do camp regularly, and thanks to the likes of yourself, have learnt that you really don't need a huge amount of gear to be comfortable, just the right gear.
Excessive gear makes for great videos, but poor trekking in actuality.
nice mods =)
I owned one about six years ago and it leaked and tore on a trip to the Highlands, I complained and sent it back, they gave me a full refund. I'm amazed they are still selling it, it has to be the worst shelter I've ever had.
Truly a terrible tent, bad design and poor built quality. I have the Lanshan now, suits my needs, on a tight budget...Thanx for watching.
Really helpfull info thought I would come over from your other channel and give you a sub 😍
Your sub is appreciated. Just wish I got paid to make videos now...lol
Can't fault any of my jetboils mate been cracking kit, the Brs is a good little backup unit, but it's Terrible on gas and useless in the wind, better off with msr pocket rocket 2 or soto windmaster
Jetboil videos always get the haters lol They seem to read the title and then knowing watch something they don't like in order to upset them self's, bit like kicking them self's in the balls ...lol If I show 100 different stoves, there will be 99 people who will hate on the stoves that are different to theirs. Us Jetboil lovers must stand strong together, and defend our right to like what ever the hell we want...😁 MSR stove video is coming up in the future too on this channel. I don't make money off youtube unlike others, or get kit sent by manufactures, I will need to save up from my own money, so in time a lot of stoves will be reviewed. Pray for me...lol
👍🏻👍🏻
I purchased the MSR windburner over the jetboil better in the cold and wind, I also have a bunch of canister stoves I recommend the soto windmaster and soto remote stove. Theres a bunch of cooking vessels I wont go into how many of those I own lol depends what you fancy cooking. Do the British soldiers have to pay for those MRE? I know a lot of soldiers who makes noodles and instant soups on exercise.
Ration packs are provided for free, and never heard of anyone making noodles and soup on exercise, perhaps it's as a supplement to the ration. Soup and noodles provide very little calories after a long tab. Rucking out rations is mandatory not an option.
In America the butane is about the same price as isobutane not cheap …alcohol is everywhere in stores or heat is a gasoline deicer . Have fun stay safe.
Butane is stupidly cheap here, but not always the perfect choice. I do fill up my ISO cans with butane all the same, using an adaptor, as ISO PROP is about 20 times the price of butane per gram (Pro Rata). Rubbing Alcohol is not so cheap here in the UK either compared to the US, and Gasoline Deicer in the UK is very expensive also. It would work out cheaper running my stove on whisky....lol Thanks for your intel.
Morning Bex, good to see you 👍
👍 .. good points you make, thanks. For some, cost is also a consideration .. initial and then running .. a possible subject for another debate aka petrol vs diesel-powered motor vehicles 😏.. I do not use gas as often as I used to .. preferring now, Alcohol, Wood and White Gas / Benzine Stoves. To digress somewhat (but on the same theme), my Camping Gaz Bluet 206 Gas Stove which I bought back in the late 1970's in South Africa, still gives me very good service. Admittedly, once installed, the gas cartridge is not removable until empty .. seen by some as 'bulky', etc (the gas still has to be carried .. whether connected or not) .. an 'inconvenience' that for me as a 'boomer' (yob 1950) is water off a duck's back 😊. But, it's paid for, is pretty economical on gas, and here in Switzerland, the 190g gas cartridges, I can get down at my local Food Store and just about everywhere else. Price-wise, the Bluet Gas Cartridge is cheaper, gram gas per Swiss Franc than the more modern screw on/off cartridges. A re-purposed zip up 'toiletry bag' that can be hooked onto the outside of my pack if need be, carries the unit, footpiece, concertina windscreen (the burner head has it's own windscreen which is pretty effective anyway), lighter and other odds and sods (pot grip, eating utensils, cloth, whatever). A bonus .. this model is still available .. albeit slightly modified (now an 'S' version) and surprisingly, here in Europe, still quite popular. Anyone looking for an entry-level budget, tried and tested gas cooker should consider this option .. Decathlon being one of many suppliers thereof and well worth a review some time or other. Always a pleasure watching your posts .. and until next time, take care ..
If 100 commenters suggested a different stove each, and I was to buy 100 different stoves to review, it would still upset 99 people all of the time. Doing youtube is a game you will never win. I always give the reason to why I use the Jetboil, is it fits the precooked boil in the bag ration packs, that a small 500ml would be too small. I have smaller stoves such as the BRS SS Micro, as seen in the video, and 300ml 500ml pots also, (but can't use them all at the same time) so in other upcoming videos other pots and stoves will be seen in the fulness of time. The focus of this video was to point out the unfairness of other peoples videos on youtube comparing the Jetboil & the BRS. (one stove and pot set is best used for freeze dried meals, while the Jetboil is best used for ration packs). Both have their place when used correctly. I believe people should be free to use what ever stoves and pots they want, without prejudges or ridicule or facing coercive controlling behaviour by narcissists in the comments. I also have an unconventional cook system that seems to boil 1 cup 250g on 1-3g of gas, with a cost of 3 pence per boil, but am still running tests to double check the numbers, it seems to be too good to be true at the moment. As I don't make money through doing these videos, nor do I receive products for free to review by manufactures, I pay for all my own kit, so reviewing everyone's suggestion is impossible. I would be happy to review and system if people are willing to send me it....lol Happy Trails
The difference in efficiency is startling. Interesting, thank you ! .
Loving these pure factual videos Bex. No bias, and no slagging off of one piece of equipment over another. As you rightly point out, they all have their place and are all good for certain situations. Keep em coming.
Thanx buddy. Not everyone viewed this video as it was intended other than you. Most intentionally misinterpreted what was actually said, in favour of hearing what ever the funk they wanting ...lol
I agree with you on the sleeping pad issue. Good report.
The highlander 35l is a bit nicer than the BCB offering.
I fixed the valve, but now all the feathers are stuck down the bottom of the pad....lol I have the Thermarest Xtherm now, expensive but a real game changer for a cold sleeper like me.
👍👍👍 .. good post with interesting content. To touch on some .. Yes, reducing the flame to just what is required will still do the job (albeit a bit slower) and save a heap of fuel. Using gas, I use my windscreen to 'shield' and not 'enclose' the setup. 'Down against Skin'. I have 'mulled' this quite a bit and it makes absolute sense. Having the most effective insulation up against the heat source (the body) and thereby contain / maintain the required Micro-Climate against the skin where it will do the most good, is the way to go. As long as that micro-climate has been established (by whatever means) and is maintained, all will be well. Whatever is happening beyond that .. be it centimetres or even millimetres away, is then of little consequence. Meals .. breakfast. I am a Philistine and when out there (and even 6 days a week at home), will scoff down a huge assortment and variety of food .. as long as it is Oats .. in varying variations thereof 😏. I boil the water, add, and then 'cold soak' my oats concoction the night before (boiling water to ensure that no nu-nu's survive therein to 'go out into the world and multiply). The next morning, a quick warmup if desired .. adding anything else and Bob's your Uncle. Thanks for sharing .. take care ..
Oats is my go to meal too, but not big on eating breakfast as a rule. The cold soak dehydration meal was a suggestion from a commenter, I thought I would indulge him, much to my distain and hate of that type of cooking. I am quite a lazy camp cook, opting for a tin of curry and a pack of Uncle Bens, boiled up in a pot big enough to accommodate that type of cooking these days, much to the annoyance of some viewers. I choose to take to weight and size penalty, to further my love of lazy cooking. ...lol Individuality and freedom of thought must be stamped out as soon as possible on youtube, in favour of following the crowd like a sheep. This youtube lark is a though gig if you have your own mind...lol Bare skin sleeping is not my usual thing to do, in case of a need to evacuate camp quickly. Sleeping with some layers on will preclude me running from a hostile farmer bare arsed with my tackle swinging loose, a fact not many viewers seem to comprehend...lol How ever on a public camp site I would bare skin sleep, providing the comfort rating is much lower than the temperatures at the time, this will ensure a warm sleep.
Inflatable doll ?
Yes with your face on it.
Interesting video and was most surprised by your comments regarding this DD tent as my impression from watching DD kit reviews are favourable. What brand are your dry meals ?
DIY tinned food which was put in a dehydrator, (a suggestion from a commentor.) My go to meals are (Freeze dried meals) albeit they are expensive, the texture and flavour are not diminished, but retains the same ease as just adding boiled water. Freeze dried meals also allow for a smaller pot and stove. On some camps I just bring a tin of curry and an Uncle Bens, and pop it in the Jetboil Minimo on a long simmer, and just suck up the weight penalty, because I am a lazy camp cook. I have filmed several different types of camp cooking, which will bring hate comments if it's not the same choice as the commenter...lol Here is a link to one of my videos that might clarify things a little better. th-cam.com/video/o-Dx4V6T1-s/w-d-xo.html
Nice
Very good and precise. Done about 7 tents now, some quite large, and I have to say, my quality is going way down! A lot of overlap and reinforced seams are complex though, with mini flaps underneath. Good clear video.
Some people will skimp on cost, insisting mixing their own sealant and diluting it to a runny texture is the proper way. This often leads to a sloppy finish, when the cost of a pre mixed tube isn't that much in the first place. The cost of a bottle of white spirits and a tube of bathroom silicon will far surpass a one off purchase of a quality premixed tent sealant. Go slow and have patience is key here. Thanx for watching, Happy Tails.
Do you use the fly sheat often? Or is it just extra weight?
There is no fly sheet, it's just a single skin sil nylon tent.
Super smart
Thanks buddy.
Well done! Great looking tent. New follower here. Crow✌️
Welcome aboard!
Nice to see you back bud . What happened to your other channel
It's still there, but soon the main channel will be split in to two other channels, (bex treks) for camping/trekking & (Only Surplus) for military kit. (bexbugoutsurvivor) will continue as a prepping only channel, and the second part of the social experiment will begin, and explained in full before it's eventual demise.
