Taking apart your camera is the best way to ruin it - so it's probably best not to if you have the delicate touch of a dump truck reversing without wheels.
Hello, I’m new to the film. Camera saw this video and the Pentax sv I just bought the same issue. I’m just wondering what sort of oil do I use to put it on the screw?
Very helpful video thank you.
I have the exact same issue except oiling didn’t fix it. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for your help
Oh man! Wish I had seen this video before I sold mine because of that issue 😵💫😭
I got a S1a in mint condition but it suffered from these exact problems. These videos allowed me to fix it. It works perfectly now...a really big thanks for posting these videos!!
Thank you for posting this video. I was able to fix my S1a. Much appreciated!
Hello, may i know what oil did you use on the video? Thanks!
I would use sewing machine or clock oil
I believe it’s exactly the same as the SV, and the lever also needed to have some grunge scraped. Good as new!
Now My H2 is playing up. The little cog is not turning the big cog and the swinging cam seems to be stuck on the wrong side of the large cog raised pin.
Hy, i have pentax sv. But the shutter speed stay on bulb mode, even i set in 1/1000. Do you know how to fix it? Please let me know
Do you get the clicks of the different settings? The selection wheel might not be connected properly. I'm not very familiar with this part of the mechanism otherwise sorry to say.
Mine locks up until I release the shutter a bit past the activation point, and only when the shutter speed is 1/30 or below.
You might need to service the separate low shutter speed mechanism which is in another video I made
@@RaggiBoy1 sorry, here's a better explanation of my problem 1s-1/15th locks up, opens the shutter but won't start the clockwork, and then releases fully once I lift the shutter button past the activation point, it's like it's getting stuck on the shutter button like in B mode.
I understand. That is odd. It sounds like you're on the right track with the Bulb mode maybe being stuck in an active position. There are service manuals for this camera online, I'm not sure I could help you more, it was a few years ago and I only learned the basics if it.
@@RaggiBoy1 alright thank you anyways
Same on my s1a
I just came into posession of an S1a, the shutter on mine will open but not close again unless i turn the shutter speed back up to above the X, could it just need some oil?
Couldn't say for sure. Try work out which stage it gets stuck and lubricate the parts that don't finish moving first
this solution has worked beautifully to fix mine. thank you <3
Thank you! I've just bought an S1a via eBay with the same problem. Solved in 5 minutes. Brilliant!!! !!!
Very helpful. Fixed my problem.
Thanks for the tip. You should add a 'buy me a coffee' button/link to such a concise & useful video. Quick way to chuck a couple bucks your way for the help.
00:15 !!!! I thought my camera (Petri MF1) was broken and i didn't realize you have to push the little cloth to the left!! After doing that i heard a clicking noise and everything was working again, shutter, lever, everything! So after this i checked the manual and i found out that every time you want to replace the film you need to depress a little RELEASE KNOB located on the bottom of the camera body. When that knob is pressed, it will block everything (lever, shutter etc) in order for you to rewind the film and pull it out. This is probably a problem i would not have faced if i had some film inside, but i had none and i was just trying blank to check if everything was working. If you have no film on and the lever is stuck and the shutter doesn't click, try to open the camera and push this cloth towards the left, and check if the knob is up or down.
Mine has similar issues. The shutter stuck if I don't immediately shoot after advancing the film, do you have any idea what should I do? Your answer would be helpful
I couldn't say why in your exact case, it sounds strange to me. The only advice I can give is to do all the steps in these 3 videos I have to help the shutter move more smoothly.
Wow, thank you! This was a super-quick fix for a significant problem with my camera!
Many thanks, just bought an S1a and the mirror stuck up with the 55mm lens on not allowing me to unscrew it to touch the mirror, watched your video turned it upside down, tapped the prism and it completed the action allowing me to remove the lens and front panel to oil the mechanism, keep up the good work
Hi! Your video was really helpful and now i Can see the problem but my shutter bottom stock blocked. Have any idea? Thanks!!
I'm not quite sure what your problem is without having the camera in my hands, but try look at my other 2 videos (and I recommend looking at other peoples and the service manual for better perspective) for a bit more disassembly and you may work it out. Just remember to not be frustrated, take your time and it will eventually become clear.
@@RaggiBoy1 yes! I saw your videos and the y help me understand a little bit more but i coundn’t make the shutter works. It’s blocked, it doesn’t press. I’ll continue trying! Thanks for all your help!!
Hi ragnar! The shutter bottom of my Cam is stuckked
I just want to say, I got my SV and you have helped me fix every single problem it has had. Thank you so much!
What app is it you test the speed with? Very awesome video!
Hi, I have the h1a, and the mirror is stuck in up position, it doesn’t have anything to catch onto when I pull it down, any advice? Like I don’t know if the latch is broken or what? I’m sorry if this is a terrible explanation
th-cam.com/video/bRTnGu9mync/w-d-xo.html Maybe the video here would help^
What app is that ?
It's called 'shutter speed'
I have just received an SV in the post. The lens will not go all the way on and now I cannot take it off. I think that the flappy paddle, which is in the cocked position, is at fault. Any thoughts on how to free the lens please?
Yes this happened to the camera in the video. Sometimes tapping the body at different angles will release it, higher ambient temperatures will help soften the old oil, but don't put it on a radiator. But probably better to take the 4 screws off on the front of the body around the lens to remove the silver lens mount. Don't let the copper shims lose their positions - they are micro adjustments at the factory for focus accuracy. And definitely don't lose the screws in the body. But that will let you take the lens off for further work.
@@RaggiBoy1 Thanks. On taking off the front assembly I was able to push in the pin and release the lens. However I see that there are only two shims fixed, one to the body and one to the lens mount piece. When I shook the camera another shim appeared on my desk. Are all of these shims the same thickness or slightly different as you would expect? Should there always be four shims?
I believe they can be different thicknesses, although probably the same. And there is no guarantee how many either, as they are to mitigate factory tolerances. There may only be 3, can't remember how many I had. If you do a bit of forensics, here should be an outline left by where they were before. If you put it on the wrong spot, I doubt you'll notice any discernable difference to the picture, so don't worry too much if you can't tell. Put a dab of grease on them so they stay in place next time.
My S3 had the same problem. I fixed it by this method - thank you.
Can I ask what kind of oil you used? I have the same exact camera with the same exact issue
I used a basic '3 in 1' household oil. Probably should use watch oil though.
Very helpful!
You're welcome
Thanks for the video,my camera shutter will stuck when the air is cold...
That definitely happens with old, sticky oil. Following all my videos on this camera should help. But there may be more parts needing oil in your camera than I covered. There is a service manual that may help, good luck.
@@RaggiBoy1 have you try shooting in snow? I just put it into fridge.my camera is not function at all. The shutter is totally stuck...
Who told you to do that? Lol
@@RaggiBoy1 me
Helpful video to fix my Pentax. Thank you!
Thanks fro the video, fixed my S1a!
What lubricant / alcohol are you using for this?
Just 3 in 1, you should use watchmakers oil however.
@@RaggiBoy1 also when servicing cameras its important to use the highest alcohol spirit level you can get, some has the addition of water and is not something you want to add to the insides of your camera {high 90's is best}
