Looking at V3 for commercial setting. How do you enjoy the workflow compared to volumetric models out there?
I used to work with a V3 at my old job ad absolutely loved it! Of course it takes some getting used to, if you have never worked with a manual machine, but it will reward you with incredible coffee like no other machine. Over time you'll also get a pretty decent feeling on how the coffee flows and when to stop the extraction without a scale. The V3 is still one of, if not the favorite machine of mine, and I think once you work with it, you never want to use another machine.
@@BeanTalk Its simplicity, yet effectiveness looks very appealing. Would you recommend for a mobile coffee truck? Or would that be a little too ambitious?
It depends on your budget and space in the truck, but in general why not! Especially if you're planning to work with it yourself, I'm certain that there's no other machine where making coffee is as satisfying as with the V3 😊
Faemina 😍😍😍
The Slayer really is beautiful but I can never justify nor afford the cost of it. 😅 My modded Breville Dual Boiler will have to do. Still, I hope I can afford it in the future. How tactile a machine feels is definitely important.
Hey, yes I totally understand! And you're right, the tactile feeling of the Slayer is absolutely incredible! I wish you all the best, that you can afford it in the future! 😊
What kind of espresso machine are you using? Looks nice!
Thank you! It's a Slayer Espresso Single Group and a truly incredible machine 😊
just wondering if the restricted water profile is the same with the LM Gs3...
The boilers type copers?
Hi, from what I know the boilers are both made from stainless steel 😊
Really good tips man! I'd only tell you to speak a little faster 🙏, but great video!
Nice video man!!
Cool
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

@@BeanTalk just work on editing👍 whenever you make a mistake, just repeat the sentence and cut the old one out
A very very basic guide I see... first things first, yeah of course decent Speciality coffee, light roast. 2./3.: Water & grinder - Thirdwave water, Lotus Coffee Water and a decent grinder (yeah, the C40Mk4 is fine (pun intended; it actually does not even grind as fine as I´d like; needs RX35...; these days the vas majority of (reddit) users would use 1Zpresso ZP6 or equivalent)). Interested about Martin´s opinion (I bet he´d prefer the Orea V4 Narrow over V60)...
Why wouldnt you center the footage thats in focus?
I love my v3
That's awesome! Up to this day the V3 is my favourite commercial machine to work with 😊
5.000 euro voor een thuismachine…? Bovendien erg lelijk design. En waarom zou je filterkoffie willen zetten met een espressomachine?
Hey, thank you for your comment 😊 Of course, 5000€ is quite a hefty price for a single group machine, but this like some others are basically commercial grade machines, which are "small" enough and equipped with some extra features to also be placed in a household. But of course, at this price point it's quite a luxury good. Concerning the design, everyone has different preferences and opinions. I personally really like the design, but that's just my personal opinion. I mean it would be boring if everyone liked the same stuff, and everything looked the same 😉 And if you already have a nice brew bar at home, you're probably not interested into the filter function. But for many people that don't it's a nice bonus. This function is also available for the La Cimbali M200 (as Faema also belongs to Cimbali Group) and for commercial machines it's a great addition. With only the need for a brewer like a V60 and a grinder for filter coffee, a coffee shop could easily offer a brew like that instead of making a batch brew for example. Of course this is just my opinion, but I'd be happy to hear more about yours. Cheers! ☕️
Great video, my grinder not working no coffee comes out, though making all the correct noises Help
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! 😁 Maybe the grinder is set to fine, in that case you won't have any coffee coming out. Try going a lot coarser and see if the coffee comes out then. It could also be that it's just clogged.
Great video! I do have a question do you recommed this coffee over the M200'?
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! 😊 This video is from before the M200 was released. I have personally worked with the M200 many times and really enjoyed working with it. It got great ergonomics, makes superb coffee and you can play around with the preinfusion or even pressure profiles on the M200 Profile. And a big plus for the M200 is the pour over function for making filter coffee.
I like to add sugar before adding the coffee grounds and stir all together before heating😊
Hey, that sounds like something I should try 😊 I've also recently tried a variation at a local turkish café where they added nuts and mint as well, which was also quite interesting.
What makes it the best..the cliché background music?
Thanks for asking, mostly the design, temperature stability, pump, endless possibilities of flavor profiling and result in the cup. But feel free to watch our whole video where we talk about all of that in detail 😊
Man I can never get a cobbler tin to not stick horribly after shaking
I know the struggle, but smacking it from the side usually helps
I'm left-handed. The _Otto_ works equally well left- or right-handed, so it's a no-brainer for me. The production quality is also first-class. One or two drops of cold water will settle the grounds in the demitasse.
That's awesome, I'm glad you also enjoy it! I also think it's an amazing product. Alright, thanks for the tip, I definitely have to try that!
The thing with coffee is people make loads of money off it, that includes the idiots that dream up new tools that you need. Next time you go and get a coffee, watch the barista, if its a great coffee, ask yourself, did he use a multiple needle distributer open bottom porta filter or allllll the other crap? NOPE. its ALL bullshit, the clumps dont matter if its tamped right, just extract a little less, and SMELL the coffee as its coming out, bitter stop take note, go less time next time, you dont need a stupid levelor, when you tamp, tamp it evenly for phucks sake.... Watch the coffee, if its coming out without creama or spurting its not right. You dont need any of this crap, its allllll marketing, like sticking a better car brand sticker on your car. oh it goes faster now, yeah proove it, you cant no scientific proof.
Hey there! I can't really argue with your statement, which is also why the video is called "Coffee tools you want but you don't need". Of course there are people profiting of these kind of tools and therefore marketing it, as this is the case in most industries. Also at the end of the episode I include that these tools, if at all, are only rarely used at coffee shops. Most of these tools are more aimed a home baristas that have plenty of time per espresso to use them. But also with commercial grade equipment you usually get better distribution in your portafilter and less clumps compared to a household grinder. Therefore for home users it might actually make more sense to use something like a WDT tool or leveler, to have a better distribution in the portafilter to not have channeling. Because even if tamped correctly, an air pocket could lead to channeling. I have been working in the coffee industry for over 9 years now and of course seen a lot of development in this time. I have also been a little skeptical with every new process that's been introduced, but some of them make sense and some don't. For example the leveler is something that's used a lot nowadays, even in coffee shops and when used with a bottomless portafilter you can actually really see the difference in consistency of the extraction. And working at a coffee shop, the thing you aim for is providing consistently outstanding quality. 😊 But at the end of the day, I think everyone can do as they please and have their own opinions. I'm always open to discussion and would like to know more about your opinion.
hi just bought the Faemina! what's the pressure you are using for espresso?
Hi! That's awesome, congrats to the new machine. I'd use the standard 9 bars that machine should usually come with. Concerning the preinfusion you have a lot of options and it's definitely worth playing around with those settings. What kind of coffee do you usually drink? Something more on the chocolatey or fruity side?
ok will do that. More the chocolate kind of espresso with a nice cream layer but getting that of this device ....ooo this medical doctor needs some training...I also have the faemina grinder, but this afternoon hopeless, there wasn't even coffee dripping. This is a hell lot more difficult then a jura device. I look up at baristas! It's not easy...@@BeanTalk
Yeah, it can be a little tricky at first, but you'll get there for sure! Concerning the settings for the preinfusion: You can try the BeFaema app, there they have a cool section called "Sensory Experience" and if you click "From Aroma to Recipe", you can choose what kind of coffee you like and it gives you suggestions for the settings. I would maybe try 2-3 s of wetting and then 1-2 s of blooming from what you told me.
And if you want a little help with setting your grinder, we actually made a video about that on a Faemina that you can check out here: th-cam.com/video/AyGlrJKu6bU/w-d-xo.html However, one thing I highly recommend to make your life a whole lot easier, is to use a scale for dialing in your coffee. For example try something like 19g of coffee in your filter, set the double espresso to 170 imp (should equal to about 40 g in the cup) and try to set the grinder finer/coarser until you have an extraction of around 25 s. Use this as a starting point and then you can play around with some other settings. I hope I could help, and let me know how it goes 😊
@@BeanTalk Thanks for the information. Can you provide me with some more information about the measure unit imp? Its a bit confusion for me. Thanks for your cool video's, i subscribed! :D
Not available in Canada yet🥲
Oh no, that sucks 😅
Bianca cost 3x less with same future and to me nicer design!
VBM Domobar super is better
Hey thank you for your comment! I haven't tried either the Bianca nor the Domobar. But to me the Slayer (not talking about price) is from the design and the effortless handling the best single group machine I have worked with. But of course everyone has different opinions and this is a subjective topic. That's why I'm always curious to hear from others. What do you like or not like about the Bianca compared to the Slayer? 😊
@@BeanTalk Slayer is more commercial, albeit the VBM is somewhat commercial. Slayer also is more consistent, has better thermal stability, better steaming, more luxurious and is the jewel crown of espresso machines. VBM has biggest E61 group head which is better than most in thermal stability (not better than slayer though). VBM has programmable pressure profiling which is amazing for its price. Also its super cheap compared to Slayer. Edit: When I claimed that the domobar super was better, I hadn't researched enough bout the Slayer. The only 3 things VBM super has over that Slayer is price, size and Profile programming.
Took a little remixing but I've a very nice 3d printed version of the this - ok it's not got the heft of WW's - I use their HG2 and uni basket but if I'd bought this my wife+axe+head=..................in theory the HG2 does it's own stirring but this really works over a freehand wdt
That's awesome! Haha yeah, that would be a very unfortunate equation. How do you like the HG2? I haven't had the chance to try it yet. I have only used the EG-1 and absolutely loved it.
@@BeanTalk I have one of the gen 1 versions so it had a issue with broken gears but all fixed with a upgrade from WW - it’s been solid ever since - wanted a EG 1 but not enough disposable £ when I upgraded from Jura btc to the Decent and Weber combo
Why cut off the video mid sentence?
Still have this machine since 2018. Always deliver great Results. But sometimes i think i need a new one. Maybe Strada X1 will be my future Espresso Machine. Can you review it ?
Hey, thank you for your comment. Yes, the Slayer is an amazing machine, sadly I don't have it at home. Do you want to change for a specific reason or do you just want to try something new?
@@BeanTalk yes just want to change a new modern tech I think. Maybe like Connected App or automatically stop when yield reach some points etc. You know after have it for 5 and almost 6 years, the grass is greener on the other side lol 😂
How much should be pressure bar and how much should be temprature for this slayer
Hey, I usually set the pump pressure to 9 bars, and the temperature to 93°C. But if you want to know more about the Slayer Single Group, check out our video: th-cam.com/video/ZkiCLLgshXA/w-d-xo.html
Anyone who knows what filter and coffee pot he is using for the slow coffee?
Hey, the filter I'm using is from Mindfuldesign, and I made another video where we visited the designer, if you want to check it out: th-cam.com/video/DPtvoJ9drqs/w-d-xo.html For the Faemina we got a special edition, that was a little shorter than the regular version. I hope I could help! :)
😂😂😂 You have never ever had a real cup of coffee bro. Put that toy away and just make some Cowboy coffee FFS.
Pretty sure, I don't say anything about my coffee preferences in the video, "bro" 😂
@@BeanTalk I'm talking about the unnecessary BS tool, bro.
It’s an expensive coffee prep gadget, that’s all it is, nothing more nothing less.
Thanks for your feedback! I agree to the extend, that it's basically a WDT tool. The design and build quality is amazing, but if it justifies the price tag is something everyone has to decide for themselves. What it does better than a regular WDT tool is the way in which it distributes and also that it's not as likely to get messy. That's also why I say at the end, that I mostly see it at barista competitions, where you can get some safe technical points by using this. But yeah, everyone has to decide for themselves, and this is very clearly quite a polarizing tool. (same as levelers a few years back, but now a lot of people use them)
Nice machine! Londinium is the best looking espresso machine imo and built like a tank.
Thanks for the comment! I have only seen the Londinium on pictures so far, but might have to check it out in real life then!
Great video! I have a Slayer single group at home and love it! One thing you forgot to mention is the customizability of the machine in terms of material finishes, colors, etc. You can create a unique look, for example I chose orange finish with zebra wood handles.
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! Yes, you're absolutely right! Thank you for pointing that out 😊 That sounds like an awesome customization, I'd love to see pictures of it!
Yes I customized and they asked $19k for it
one of the worst ideas in grinders , is the ability to choose different weights or doses . the grind setting for a double espresso compared to a single espresso needs to be readjusted , therefore to have a selector right on the grinder itself is a bad idea .
I guess it's an easily added feature that is demanded by many on the market. I would personally never use a single portafilter, as you're never going to get the same kind of even extraction as with a double (and I don't mind drinking the extra espreso). But many people rather have the option of using both single and double, and don't care or are unaware of the loss in quality. However, I do understand the manufacturers as well, that they might as well add the possibility to of 2 settings, if that means more potential customers.
Yes I noticed the pleasant vanilla flavor of my coffee disappeared when I boiled it 3 times. I feel that 1 boil and then a 1-2 minute rest before the pour does a perfect job. Remebe to always heat your cup! ❤
That's great and the vanilla aroma sounds quite interesting. What kind of coffee did you use? 😊 Thanks for the kind feedback! ☕️
@@BeanTalk its a coffee called D'aroma from Chile that has a mix of Brasilian and Colombian beans. It's very good and it's very affordable. 🥰
Just discovered your channel, pretty cool ! I loooove Espresso with tonic in summer, it’s the best
Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 YES!! Espresso Tonic is one of my favorites in summer as well. What kind of Tonic do you like to use?
@@BeanTalk actually I never made it at home, so it depends on the coffee shops 🤔 Greetings from Norway! ☕️
Alright, I see. I have personally tried it with many before and usually prefer the ones with little or without sugar. But my favorite is probably with Le Tribute Tonic 😊 Thanks, greetings back from Austria! ☕️
What brand and tyoe of espresso machine is this. It looks far more interesting than the coffee grinder.
Hi! The machine we used in the video is the FAEMA Faemina. It is an amazing and very capable espresso machine. We have also made a review about it then you can watch here: th-cam.com/video/B9gmluUCYTI/w-d-xo.html Cheers 😊
Great machine and great review. Tell me pls, what about making tea. There is no problems with coffee residues on the shower? This is what I'm afraid of.
Hi! Thank you for your kind words! 😊 The shower screens are nano coated and should be clean again after you flush the group head and therefore clean before making tea or filter coffee. Of course, if you make multiple espressi with a very dark roasted and finely ground coffee, I would personally just quickly wipe the shower screen and flush before making a tea. Just to make sure. However, it is important to keep your machine clean and use an appropriate cleaner frequently, so that you don't have coffee oils building up, that of course wouldn't taste to great in your tea.
@@BeanTalk Great thanks. I"m seriously thinking about buying Faemina together with Mahlkonig E65 gbw for coffee events, so I'm lookong for every information. Thx again:) and greetings from Poland :).
@@wiesawkobylinski9851 That sounds like a great setup! I have borrowed a Faemina for a few events before and absolutely loved it. Hi! It's the Bentwood Vertical 63 and it's a really great grinder with amazing particle distribution.
@@BeanTalk Thank You
Nice review! Pretty incredible grinder 👍🏻
Yes, I agree! It is an incredible grinder and so easy to work with 😁
Have you seen the Olympia Express Moca SD? It’s hard to find any reviews online, but it seems to be a very capable home espresso grinder with a small footprint. Would love to see your review on it.
New fan here… malaysia
Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying our content!
I like Faema, I have an E61 machine. Although for ultimate control wrt profiling and repeatability in a home environment, or just in general, the 'Decent' series of machines takes some beating imho.
That's awesome, the E61 is such a beautiful machine! So far I haven't had the chance to play around with a decent, so I can't really say much about that. However, what I really appreciate about the Faemina is the consistency and the many features it comes equipped with, and still being super user friendly (especially when you use the app for the settings). You sure won't have as much data output as from a decent (I don't know if this necessary for the "average consumer", but of course always interesting to have). But the preinfusion possibilites are amazing and can give you some incredible results. What they have added in the app since my review is the new "Sensory Experience", which is basically a guide for you on how to set the machine parameters (Temperature, Preinfusion/Wetting) depending on the coffee you use and which kind of flavors you like.
Are the burrs flat or conical?
Yes, sorry I might have forgotten about this piece of information. The burrs are flat!
I came from the ad, good video overall but try to use a b-roll in your video good luck
Thank you appreciate it! Yes, you're right and usually we do use b-roll on our videos. We took a lot of time filming this video and then didn't have enough time left for the b-roll sadly 😅
😊

Hey thanks for your other reply. I really liked the quality of the video, it has really nice vibe to it. I wonder how did you grind the coffee? I would like to get an electric grinder capable of ibrik coffee but not sure which one can do it. Grinding it by hand takes minutes and is quite cumbersome. Looking forward to your future videos.
Thank you, I really appreciate that! 😊 For this video I used the Bentwood grinder that is in the background, but I have also used a Eureka Mignon Single Dose before, so both are espresso grinders, that I set very fine and both worked quite well. It really depends on how much you wanna spend of course. If you want something more on the affordable side, maybe take a look at the new Fellow Opus. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but supposedly it's quite good and should have a decent grinding result.
