Nice! I'm sure you'll like them. They're great for the price. I'll have to check out the Truscend ones. There are some by Goture that look like they might even come from the same manufacturer & I was thinking about trying one of those out since they're mega cheap too.

Yeah man, I sussed the place out a little & decided staying there wasn't the move 😂 That's wild your mom said she never saw anyone catch anything there though. I went there with no info & ended up having pretty good luck, so I'd say it seems to be a pretty decent spot to fish.

I'd probably go with the 6'6" since it's telescopic anyway & won't take up extra space. Having that extra 6 inches will help with casting distance & better hooksets especially if you're targeting species other than trout. The handle felt pretty good for a telescopic budget setup. Not perfectly balanced like some higher end stuff, but for the price and convenience of it, I thought it was great!

Yeah man, it was definitely a strange fish. It's still the only snook I've ever caught with a partial line like that. Pretty neat!

I think a lot of people use only baitcasters for glides because of the generally higher gear ratios of baitcasters, but with a glide bait like the speed glide the high gear ratio isn't necessary because it's made for more of a straight retrieve.

A lot of boomers like flashers but it sounds like good information

Flashers are nice because it marks your lure depth as well.

I'd have to agree with everything you said. The regular sonar works much better on this specific fish finder & the depth is accurate as I used it side by side with some of my friend's higher end fish finders & theirs read the same depths.

@dylantaft1867 Generally speaking I'd agree with that especially for ice fishing, but with these cheap fish finders the transducer isn't sensitive enough to give a great read on flasher mode.

I rigged it that way because typically soft plastics are rigged with the appendages facing away from the line, not towards it. Rigging it opposite of the way I had it would leave it with very little action since the appendages would be sitting face-down towards the bottom rather than slightly upwards towards the fish. The hooks I was using were 5/0 EWGs. I'll try them weightless next time I use them though. Thanks for the advice & thanks for watching!🤙

Thank you! I've caught too many bass to count on the bluegill colored one. I've had pretty good luck with all the colors I have though. They're surprisingly good jerkbaits for the price. I understand that too. Treble hooks can be a pain to deal with sometimes lol

Nice, I think you'll be pretty happy with it at the price point. I'd have to agree with everything you said about budget casters also. If you haven't tried any of the lower end KastKing reels I'd highly recommend those too. As far as landing fish quickly goes, I do that for two reasons. The first being that the faster I land them, the less time they have to spit the hook. The other reason is that it might seem counterintuitive, but a shorter fight is actually better for the fish. Just like us, fish can experience exhaustion after exerting too much energy. If you wear them out with a long fight and then take them out of the water to unhook them, it creates more stress than a quick fight. Think about it like trying to hold your breath immediately after running a marathon compared to trying to hold your breath after a short run.

You're definitely right! Sometimes I do stupid things when handling fish but it's always best to be careful while handling and removing hooks.

Nice! It's a great setup to start out with. I actually like mine better than some of my higher end, more expensive ones. You probably just don't have your settings dialed in right. Since you're just learning I'd recommend setting your brake dial to somewhere between 7 & 9, and you'll adjust your tensioner nob every time you change lures. For tension, tighten it just tight enough so that if you hit your spool release, your bait falls freely, but your line doesn't over-spool once the bait hits the water. If you drop your lure straight down into the water in front of you, it should slowly sink once it hits the water, but your line should stay tight on the spool, not blow out into a birds nest. Hopefully that helps!

Nah, no damage aside from a small chip in the siding from where it looks like some debris hit. My area got really lucky and had minimal damage and flooding, but some of the surrounding towns got hit pretty hard unfortunately.

That's weird. Must have been a defective one because I've caught 12lbs carp on these setups without any issues.

Nice! Did you end up picking one up & if you did how are you liking it so far? I really enjoyed mine, and the only real complaint I had with it was that it's pretty slow getting around with the kick fins. As long as you're not in a real hurry to cover a ton of water though, I think they're great!

@@AllmouthBassing same.. I was using my hands because the kick fins I bought where not big enough for my waders and my huge feet LOL!!! I was surprised how well made it was for the price and it felt good and easy to cast from. No room so I needed to leave most of my gear on the bank, risky. I just took out a small tackle box and a net that was manageable.

@@landscaperescuewithstuartm6141 Ahhh, that's a bummer your fins didn't fit! Some guys just use canoe/kayak paddles with them, but I've never tried that personally. For net storage, you could probably find some waterproof velcro straps & strap it straight to the tube. As far as tackle goes, I'd usually just bring a small Plano box that fit inside one of the zipper pockets for hard baits, and only bring the soft plastics I planned on using for the day & it usually worked out pretty well for me. Some guys make custom PVC platforms to extend off the side of the tube for extra storage, but that takes away from the simplicity that attracted me to a tube in the first place, so I never bothered.

That was my first impression of it too, but as you could see in the video the trout seemed to really like the subtle action. Those creme micro cranks are decent, but from my experience they tend to need a bit of adjustment to track straight, or they'll do barrel rolls & twist your line up. I've moved south since I made this video & don't have freshwater trout available where I live now, but if I do any trout fishing in the future I'll probably give those Rapalas a try 👍

@AllmouthBassing I bought the Ozark Trail mini minnow again. At the end of the night after I didn't catch anything on other lures, I threw it in the stream and caught a nice trout on the first cast. Yeah I would give those micro crankbaits another chance. The two that I have run great. The other night on a full moon I threw one in and caught three trout in under 10 minutes. I seen some other TH-cam videos, I know they work on all other fish as well.

Similar situation here! I'm still using the rod on occasion for bait fishing, but that reel got thrown in the trash once I was done making this video. If they made the reels with slightly stronger components it would be a great combo, but I guess you can't ask for too much out of a combo that costs less than $40.

I no longer have this fish finder so I can't remember the exact steps, but if I remember right I think there was a "mode" option which would switch between flasher and side view. Hopefully that helps 👍

Yeah, it was pretty intense! There was a small tropical storm off the coast & we must have just got hit with the very edge of it because those crazy conditions came in went all in about 20-30 minutes. Thanks though Mark! Glad you enjoyed the video 🤙

Nice man! I lost my sexy shad to a snag unfortunately & the only other one I have is in the elegy bone color & I haven't had nearly as much luck with that one. I might have to pick up a another sexy shad one soon.

The only hooks I usually use are eagle claw pro series hooks. I prefer the regular wire Skeet Reese hooks over any of the other ones. I'd stay away from heavy wire because they make hook sets tougher 👍
