Its not that they want the female custodes that bothers most people I know. Its HOW they go about incorporating them. Why couldnt they have fleshed out the lore of the stodes and the sisters and come up with a more logical evolution of the stodes starting to recruit from them? Couldve have been some legitimately interesting concepts and stories explored there. Instead you get some asshat tweeting, since the beginning theyve always been there. Thats what upsets most people I know. Its lazy and disrespectful to all the lore and stories that have come before.

I recently started with First and Only after struggling to find an entry point 40k books. I’ve not been disappointed. I’m now well into the second book. I will also echo a comment I read elsewhere that the audiobooks make these stories way more accessible. I knocked out about 1/3 of First and Only on a long drive I recently had. It was very enjoyable.

As someone who's back into 40k after 31 years away, this is an amazing guide, cheers. So much has changed since I was originally a fan. I've listened to the first 3 HH books, and currently on FotE - really enjoying them. Funnily enough I also picked up Indomitus from my local charity shop, so will get into that next.

Y'all are shrieking babies & I'm going to enjoy my femstodies while being at least a somewhat normal person who plays 40k with my gender-diverse crew. Please develop a personality beyond screaming "WOOOOOKE!" like the dude at the end of Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
