I’m a 48 YO rich CPA & businesswoman and I have no kids. If I had a kid and the baby daddy went to court and the court looked at my finances and determined that the percentage of my income dictated by law to provide for my kid equaled $60k monthly, that’s what it is. Pay it while you keep appealing the judgement or get custody yourself so you don’t have to pay. Ppl who argue $60k is too much sound like bitter haters who don’t even earn at the level where they can understand. Stay out of the business of numbers at amounts you don’t even understand. If you don’t want to possibly have to pay child support that can be as high as 55% of your income, DON’T have kids or mitigate your risk by having kids with someone who has equal or more money than you. It’s very dang simple.

The whole child support system is horrible. As someone who is the bread winner, that person should only have to provide to a point. Because a person lives in a $500,000 house does not mean that the child should also. Because a person makes $250,000 a year shouldn't dictate that they pay $10,000 a month (a crazy amount). I feel once child support has been agreed to or set, anything after that has to be justified and agreed to by the other parent. This gives the other parent the opportunity to say YES or NO. My point being is that a minimum standard has been set, oppose to telling someone... you got it, so pay it. A child and a parent are not equals. So why should they be living as such? If I'm divorced and choose to elevate my life financially and the other parent CHOOSES to sit back, relax, and talk about out what the other parent got and makes...there is a problem with that. No parent should be treated like a meal ticket. I know it's not all but for those that do. It's a DISGRACE...Child support should not reflect the word ENTITLEMENT.

10k goes towards monthly expenses, 50k month goes into a trust fund for over the age of 21 Otherwise the mother is doing the child a disservice

Child support being this high wouldn't be an issue if the parents saved every penny for the child to start their lives as adults. Also, parents need to only keep the increase of costs for the child, not expecting the other parent to pay for their lifestyle. If your rent as a single lady is $1000, that is your responsibility. You need extra bedrooms and rent goes up to $1200, the increase is only $200. And half of that increase each parent is responsible for which makes it $100 child expenses for each parent in rent. Electric you would normally pay $100, but with kids your bill is $200, $100 is the increase and both are responsible for half which is $50. Same for everything else. All the leftover child support shouldn't be mom's spending money either, that should go directly into a college or life starting account for the child, and each child should have their own account too. And you can't take from one child to fund the other either. And if mom gets remarried the stepchildren have NOTHING to do with the child support or college accounts either. That is up to the stepparents to set aside funds for their own kids. It's not your baby daddies responsibility to pay for your step kids expenses or college. Mom doesn't get girls weekend paid by child support, she doesn't get trips to get her hair done, she doesn't get to buy alcohol. Nope, that money is her children's future. And if she steals their future she is wrong. Also, it's better just to stay a family and not leave for BS reasons. That is unhealthy for the children. As a single parent who left and had good reasons to stay away, I would have stayed if it were possible no matter how unhappy I was with my choice. Abuse is the only reason to break up a child's home. And NOT made up BS accusations either.

If $60,000,$70,000,or $120,000 is not what you were making before you got with the other person then you should'nt get anything extra once yall divorce. Alot of these women trap these men with babies and then around and use them as pawns in their little chess game to get more money from these men. In England child support is based on the child's needs, not the noncustodial parent's income! But this is the US and it's based on the noncustodial parent's yearly income! Usually it's between 8% to 10%, depending on which state you live in! I heard of a basketball player who had to pay the mother of his two children $300,000 a month based on his $30 million a year contract! I heard a famous man increase his child support voluntarily because he made more money that particular year! In certain countries in Africa there is no child support that's court mandated. The father pays what he wants if he wants! The government will step in and help the custodial parent with help feeding the child/children and some of their needs!

That is a lot but what if, if that child has special needs...in a rare case. I'm divorced but I don't get any support at all. I'm raising my child alone and financially alone. I don't mind because having my child and making sure I can be the only one to call the shots is priceless. I'm at peace with my decision.

I have always been paying more than the minimum payment on my credit card, I had to learn the hard way about 20 years ago on making minimum payments on a credit card or a loan will take forever to be paid off, I made a conscious decision to pay more on the minimum payment of a credit card and or a loan to get it paid off faster.
