Better original

I wish they would have brought crimson heads in resident evil 0. I also thought it was better with fewer enemies with having to conserve ammo as well. But then when they remade RE2 and 3, I was not happy that they eliminated the spiders and the crows. They were often an great addition to the game. So then you have better graphics but with cut content.

I prefer the original, the remake added a lot to it and is an improvement in many many ways but I felt the pacing suffered quite a lot for my experience. It's a bit too long for my preference, the first game had it running smoothly. The Mansion, the Woodhouse, the Cave and lastly the Underground Lab was fine.

RE remake is the best Resident Evil ever

I honestly can't decide which one is better. REmake is the perfect Resident Evil game, as well as the blueprint for making a perfect video game remake. However the original is iconic in its own right, and while the dialogue is silly, it still makes me believe in what is said. It still manages to sell me the feeling of being in danger, unlike the dialogue in many of the modern RE games. The music is far superior too.

Playing RE 1 remake tonight, best one yet. Too bad they did not put this kind of devotion to the RE 3 remake...

Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time. Been playing since '96 when the kid next door (R.I.P. Steve) lent it to us. Still remember me and my brothers huddled around the tv in the dark and being scared lol Personally think the remake is better, but love both versions.

Original is better, including the voice acting. It simply has so much more charm and the censorship was a mistake. Remake voices are good except for Jill. What we deserve is the co-op version they tried to make but we never got. Rest in Peace OG Chris, Scott McCulloch.

The OG Re1 is good for its time on the PS1 the remake is a good upgrade from the OG. Over all both are really good.

Played them both at their respective launches. OG Resident Evil is the game that made me fall in love with the franchise but RE1 remake is the greatest RE game of all time, it’s just perfect. And I’ve completed it using only the knife, GO ME!,

The Director's Cut is better than yhe remake. Remake is too dark and scary. I used to think it was better. Plus the original showcases the mansion in a way that makes way more sense. I would love it if the next remake looks more like that version lf the manison. I also don't care for the Lisa Trevor stuff.

I very much prefer the original. I find the remake too dark, both in ambiance lighting and in story (see Lisa Trevor) compared to the original, which I loved also for the light-hearted horror B-movie style of the plot and lights. I appreciate the less detailed graphics that doesn't bomb my brain with details and leaves some space for my imagination to feel the gaps. However, I understand that new players might prefer the remake.

Resident Evil (1996) is the father of survival horror games along with Alone in the Dark. The fact that it's a old game don't make it less good or less important or bad released for it's time. For this reason I think it's a unfair game to put this two games in a direct comparison; obviously Re1 rebirth is far superior but... it's not a case if after 28 years we can still play and enjoy RE 1996: it's simply a masterpiece.

The Remake made the original totally obsolete. Well, there is maybe the meme thing, but other than that, there is no reason for the original to exist anymore.

I prefer playing the original, it just feels more replayable to me (and theres also Advanced Mode on the Directors Cut version) but I'd be a fool to not acknowledge that the Remake is a better overall game. One aspect i really like in the original is that you can see different cutscenes depending on the order that you do things.

I prefer the original. It has the better opening. You can basically head in any direction in the mansion. The remake forces you to play the new linear sections first which makes it a bit less replayable. Also the original has better atmosphere in my opinion. The whole mansion seems weird and the corny acting reinforces this. The remake does make some changes I like especially the Neptune section. I find that playing the remake after the original gives you the best experience cos it works as an arranged mode of sorts.

For this game, REmake is generally considered to be the better one. For RE2 it's like 50/50 either way since they're very different. For RE3 the original is generally seen as better. RE4 I think the remake is still too recent to make proper judgment. Probably another 50/50 case because the original RE4 does in fact still do some things better and is a very different experience to the original as well.

I remember playing the first RE with my friend in his unfinished basement with all the lights off. We were nine years old & constantly fought with each other over who had to round certain corners or open doors. But all our fear went out the window when the cutscenes played. We would laugh for years over the horrible voice acting.

Oh, the remake is by far and away the superior game. I've played both versions extensively throughout my life. Me and my granddaddy used to play the first 3 original re games all the time. I only wish he had lived to see the remake. He would have loved it.

The Remake is better in every way except for one thing; the lighting in the mansion. In the Remake the Spencer Mansion is alit primarily with candles, whereas the original the Spencer Mansion still has the electricity on. I think the presence of electricity is more disturbing because it leaves the impression that the mansion was abandoned unintentionally. To me, the presence of lit candles kills the suspense because it’s more obvious at the start that the presence of STARS at the mansion was intentional, when it’s supposed to be a plot twist.

Remake better BUT the original has some better stuff : the creepy musics (the original ones, not the dualshock ones), more Barry meeting possibilities, and more Rebecca meeting options.

Another vote for the OG. I love the cheesey acting and the B movie feel. The remake has better graphics but that's it. What I don't like about the remake is they changed the dialogue and replaced 'Alpha Chad' Barry Burton with some guy that has a 5 o clock shadow. If another remake of RE1 is ever made all they should do is update the graphics. It would be cool if they added a Mercenaries mode for each character but other than that leave it as is

REmake. Hands down. All the advancements made from RE2 onwards, were applied to the first game's plot, setting and horror in that game, and the end result is tied with the first two Silent Hills as the greatest survival horror games of all time (or at least my favourites).

Fun fact: The reason the Voice Acting is bad in the original game is because CAPCOM didn't expect the game to do that well so they didn't want to pay professional voice actors a fortune to do the voices. They actually went on the street and stopped western looking people who were just tourists in japan. They asked them if they were willing to do some voice lines for their games for some money. The voices were made by random tourists, that's why they are so bad, because they had no experience in voice acting.

Remake is my favorite game of all time, but i also love the original as well. Both of them gave a place in my heart
