I wish my man was as happy about grocery shopping as yours lol
He does love food shopping. LOL (Yes, everyone thinks we are a couple and it is ok.....he is actually my brother 😀)
I can atest i had no choice had to dehydrate scrambled because i dont have trays for liquid for my dehydrator and i only bake they are soooooo grainy :/
Oh I am so sorry to hear that. 🙁I hope you are able to get trays. I got mine on Amazon and they work so well. I hope they turn out well for you next time ❤
My mom in law called this soup kitchen sink soup. She always had a big pot of it on the stove ready to eat. I’ve got a big pot on now. Thanks so much :)
@@jackiehewko467 You're very welcome. ❤️ What a great name for it too! 🙂
If you didn't add meat how long would you pressure can it for? My receipe is the original WW weight lose soup. 1 bottle Vegetable/tomato juice(you know the V # brand), 1 bunch of celery chopped, big can of mushroom pieces (I use 2), 1 pkg dry onion soup mix, cabbage chopped, to fill the pot (or slow cooker). Add the juice last. Cook down to your liking. - I have up graded my cooking method to use an electric pressure cooker and I have gotten lazy in my old age. Our local grocery store (Aldi) carries a very good coleslaw mix that has carrots in it but I like the way it is cut and saves my arthritic hands. I cook in on low for about 1 hour. Then off to canning.
Even without the meat, the canning time would remain the same...90 minutes for quarts and 60 minutes for pints, for safety standards. You would only need to put the soup together and just heat it for about 5 minutes then can it. It will basically cook in the jar as you are canning, like this soup I did: th-cam.com/video/fGoz85JpzVA/w-d-xo.html. Makes it so easy! Hope this helps ❤
If done in pints
You forgot the onion and bell peppers Is sauteed in butter
I have never put those into the recipe, but as I always encourage everyone...."Make it your Own". Everyone has such great individual tastes, and it is always interesting to see what others do with a recipe they see. ❤
I have ham stock in my canner right now -- thinking that maybe I could use some of that as the broth for my next batch of cabbage soup - which is next in the canner (beef).
What a wonderful idea! I think that would give it a great taste! Like a Ham and Cabbage soup! OH YUMMY! ❤
Wish I could have big comfrey plants .I can't even find tiny little baby plants where I live .
@@loravanderwal3869 Comfrey is usually found in seeds. That is how I started my plants. After just one, they will spread each year. I have never seen anyone sell Comfrey in plant form. ❤️
Going to try a yellow cake mix and peach pie filling. Then drizzle with homemade salted caramel sauce.
Oh, that sounds DELICIOUS! I have used the peach filling but never thought of the caramel sauce before. Thank you for the new idea! ❤
So if I soaked my beans, and then cooked them in the crock pot for a meal, but wanted to can the leftovers, can I just follow the same instructions or should I pressure can them for a shorter period?
You would still pressure can them for the same length of time. 75 minutes for pints~90 minutes for quarts. ❤
Your video saved my bacon! I just got this same canner and I had no idea how to use it and your video was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much!
LOL. You are very welcome! So happy I was able to help. You will love it once you use it! ❤
Thank you. I might add cheese sauce from Ragu but great idea with creamed of mushroom soup
Sounds great! I will try that myself next time. ❤
Love that “pop”!!! 😁
One of the best sounds in the world ❤
Woohoo first to comment! Another great shopping trip. Always fun to window shop. Have a Merry Christmas.🌲
Merry Christmas! 🎅
I decided to take up canning. I searched You Tube for canning how to’s. I finally found one I can comprehend and follow easily. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!🙏
You are so very welcome and I am so happy I am able to help. I wish you much canning success! Thank you for finding me. ❤
Only problem is they aren't vac sealed.
@@rhondasibley These bags do not need to be vac sealed. When powdered/dry foods are in them you just add an oxygen absorber. I also use a silica gel pack in them for added dry security.
Nice shopping trip! But the prices of things.....🤨 disgraceful.
I agree! Prices are so crazy high anymore. I am glad I "window" shop more than "actual" shop! I could see the difference in how much everything has gone up since last Christmas. 😉
I am interested how long would they last if you would vacuum seal the jar of powdered eggs?
@@karenlanclos6209 When vacuum sealed in a jar with an oxygen absorber added and kept in a cool dark place, the eggs would be good for 5 to 10 years. ❤️
I'll be making this soon. Thanks for the video.
You are very welcome. ❤
Love this. I have been a "home canner" for 50+ years but have never preserved soups! I'm on my second pressure canner! My original went to canner heaven last year! God bless you. I'm gonna can soup soups!
I love having the soups on the shelf just waiting for when you want of need them. They come in handy more times than not for me. ❤
Looks delicious. I like the versatility of soups and stews. This is a great canning video. Thank you. ❤
If your pan is stainless steel, get your pan really hot before adding your cooking fat or oil, not to the point it burns but good and hot. That is the secret to no or low stick cooking in SS.
Thanks for the tip. Not sure if I ever did that before, but I will certainly try next time I use it. (Which is a lot!) ❤
I absolutely loved your video. Your personality is what made your video! You’re such a sweetheart. Thank you for sharing. ❤️
Awe, Thank You. That is so sweet. I always try to have fun in the kitchen the best I can. Happy you enjoyed the video. ❤
You are having one busy week. I appreciate you sharing this. I too, like canning. Seeing all the finished jars in the pantry sure puts a smile on ones face. ❤
Yes, it sure does! As well as a feeling of satisfaction. ❤

Your Very Welcome. 💗
Can not find original recipe, link with address doesn't work
The recipe for this is in the full video here: th-cam.com/video/rknmvLRMIZQ/w-d-xo.html
Can I use everyday
Absolutely!
Where are the peas, carrots and potatoes? I was going to say you're crazy, the crust is the best part but I like the stuffing idea but no cheese. it's wrong to put cheese on a chicken pot pie. To quote Butterfly McQueen, "It ain't fittin. It just ain't fitten" I like this idea of course I still wouldn't call this a chicken pot pie because it doesn't have any vegetables in it but I can fix that easily enough.
In the video, I do say that you can add other vegetable to the dish. I made this as directed from a recipe I received years ago. But my motto is, and always will be, "Make It Your Own". I like to give the basics of the recipes.....how everyone decides to change them is completely optional. (I change them around myself every now and again). 💗
@@CHwT I think it looks like a good dish and yeah I usually do make adjustments. I just wouldn't call this a pot pie dish because there's no veggies and I never saw a pot pie without veggies.
@@lennybuttz2162 Very true. More like a casserole to me as well. Not sure why the original recipe was actually called a "pot pie".
@@CHwT don't listen to the culinary Karen's, I just subbed because you seem like someone I'd love to have as a friend or neighbor. Thank you for teaching me to cook and get over my kitchen phobia. Much love from Texas Hill Country! God Bless you dear one. 🙏💜👑
@@idgie1965 Awe, you are so sweet. Thank you so much! You have brought a tear to my old eye for sure. 🙂So happy you found me and I already consider you a friend. God Bless 💗
I'll make this but I will do it all from scratch. lol I'll make my own chicken, cream of chicken and stuffing. I'm a bread maker, too but 40 plus years ago I did use Stove Top and liked it. I make my own bone broth and freeze it in containers so I'm good to go. I never throw out pan drippings, either. I mix some water in the pan and that gets frozen for broth, too. I know all the tricks, I'll be 72 in January. I hear you about the aches and pains. lol I still try to walk 2 miles a day weather permitting. I have a stepper when I can't get out to walk. I'd rather walk. lol I too have corning ware and a collection of cast iron which I love. I'm as old school as they come. People today work full time so this recipe will be PERFECT for them. Glad to have found your channel. :o)
Good for you doing all this from scratch. I'm 65 and I can do all that stuff but I'm just cooking for me and I really don't have that much energy so I'll use the canned cream of chicken and better than bouillon because it has way more flavor than that boxed broth. I can make my own pastry but I like the idea of using Stove Top stuffing and I always have a box or 4 in the pantry. I think it would be really good with the Stove Top that has cranberries in it. I'd also use frozen vegetables which she didn't use so I wouldn't call her version a pot pie.
@@lennybuttz2162 I never added fruit to my stuffing but I know some like raisins so why not cranberries. I always have some canned cranberries I'll have to give it a try. I'm alone too, I lost my husband of 49 yrs last year but being Grandma, I still keep food and desserts in my freezer for when my kids and grandkid visit which is every week. What I'm seeing here would be what we call chicken meat pie but we use a pastry crust. Pot pie here is a soup with potatoes, celery, onion, carrots, chicken and homemade dough noodles cut in squares. We also call stuffing, dressing so I guess it depends where you live. I'm of Polish, German and Austrian descent so I make what my German Grandmother made. She was one hell of a great cook and baker, bread maker like her mother was, too. My Mom was a good cook but didn't actually like to cook so she liked easier versions. You have to like cooking and baking to do it from scratch, which I do. Thanks again or the head's up on Stove Top. :o)
@@tonithenightowl1836 I am sorry for your loss. I live alone and rarely get visitors. I worked in restaurants most of my life and I'm a decent cook. I learned a lot from my German Grandma. I also have a German heritage. Since it's just me I mostly make simple dishes. I like to make a big pan or pot so I have leftovers for 2 or 3 days. I take a lot of short cuts, it's not as good as home made but it's fast and tastes good enough for me. lol I like Stove Top because I can heat up the water in my electric kettle and it's ready to eat in less than 5 minutes. The stuffing they with cranberries uses the dried cranberries but they soften up in the hot water. It's just a little touch of sweetness. I think their cornbread stuffing would also be good on this dish. I do love to cook but it's not the same if I don't have anyone to share it with.
Wow! I love that you do all this from scratch. I do try to do as much as possible as well, but have to admit, you have me over-the-top. 😀 Things from scratch do taste so much better. That was always taught to me by my Grandmother and Mother both, who always did so much homemade and from what they had to work with. Traditions are so important to me that way. God Bless 💗
@@CHwT People didn't have a lot and wasting wasn't an option. They knew how to repurpose leftovers or whatever they had to work with into another meal. I'm so glad you learned these things from you Gram and Mom. When I see what people waste it sickens me...and then they have the nerve to complain about how much they spend on groceries. sigh You were taught well. I also taught my children the same. :o)
Can you do this with any bags of frozen vegetables?
Yes 💗
@ thank you 😊
Thank you for sharing your videos and tutorials! I needed this video since I’m just starting my preserving journey. Have you ever canned your carrots without the water? Just a thought… if you make your own broth can you freeze the leftover stalk and use in your broth ?
Hi. Carrots are always canned with water, so no, I have never done them without. Every home canner I know uses water to can them. As for the homemade broth, absolutely! You can freeze it and you can also can it. Homemade is always best! Happy canning and God Bless.
I’m learning how to make so many things from your videos. Thank you for sharing your videos and tutorials. I need to go “find “ my foodsaver 🤦♀️
Can I use frozen strawberries? Can’t wait to make this recipe for Christmas!
Frozen strawberries adds more water into the process, so if using, you may have to add more pectin or cook down longer to thicken. 💗
@ thank you. I wasn’t sure 👍
I’m cooking for one so I was thinking about using your recipe without the stuffing and use my small loaf pans and fill them, freeze then put each one in an individual freezer bag. Would that work?
I think that would work fine, yes. 💗
Can you also use dried mint if you don’t have fresh mint?
You could, but it would not taste as fresh.
I’m just starting my pressure canning journey so thank you for sharing your video and recipe. I have a Denali pressure canner and an electric Nesco pressure canner that I’m going to be using. Do you season them before you can or when you are ready to eat?
You can season the beans either before canning or after. As for these beans, this is all I personally add to them. When I open them, they are just perfect and do not need any other seasoning due to the ham flavor thought out the beans. But that is only my personal taste. You always ass what you like and "Make it your Own". God Bless
If someone has a chicken allergy can you use the pork stovetop stuffing and a different flavored broth? Or a prepackaged stuffing mix? Make your own stuffing recipe?
Absolutely! Always "Make it your own". It is my motto! 💗
@ thank you!
Yum!!!
Can this be canned? Freeze? Looks delicious! Thank you for sharing your recipe and video 😊
Not sure about freezing this, but it cannot be canned unless you remove the Gnocchi. Stay tuned for a video on this subject coming soon! 💗
Can you pressure can or freeze this recipe?
I have never tried to do either one of those, so I am not really sure. I would have to do a bit of research and maybe some self-testing. 💗
I’m so glad I found your TH-cam channel. Thank you for sharing your videos and recipes. Also thank you for sharing your canning recipes and tutorials. You have a wonderful personality! Just curious if you can make them for freezing? Also what about using one of those crimping dough tools? Maybe use the filling like a sloppy Joe? Nay👍

Hello, first time seeing your channel. This recipe looks really good. Perfect for my works pot luck thanksgiving meal! Thank you :)
Hi and Welcome! So happy you found me! Yes, this is so good. I never even thought of potlucks, but you are right, it would be perfect!! God Bless 💗
There are several kinds, or more, of comfrey. The one I have is called Russian comfrey Boking 14 because it doesn't reseed itself and so isn't invasive like the other ones are. It grows large fuzzy pretty green leaves and you can cut it several times a growing season and it grows back right away. The leaves are pretty, the flowers are a pretty lavender pink. Before we found this channel we just cut it, ground it and wrapped it a cotton towel and wrapped it. It was a mess. This salve is a much cleaner and better idea and we're going to make some. I will say that our comfrey when we cut it smelled just like a cross between cut cucumbers and watermelon and was a total surprise because I hadn't thought it would smell good at all. I absolutely love the smell of the fresh crushed leaves. I haven't heated it, and perhaps that changes the smell which would be sad. However it may be that the Boking 14 smells better than other comfreys, too. I will mention a couple of things about this plant; aside from Boking 14 the other comfreys will reseed and you will get large amounts of it, and it has a taproot that can reach 10 feet down. If you try to get rid of it each part of each part that remains will grow a new plant, so I would advise Boking 14 only unless you want a lot of comfrey! The second one I've learned from my own neglect; I didn't cut my leaves back one summer and left them alone; the leaves grew huge and the flowering plants flopped over and where they touched the soil they produced new plants. These guys love to grow. They supposedly mine minerals from way down deep in the soil, part of why they're so health-promoting. If you cut the leaves and lay them to dry around your other plants they will fertilize that plant. They are great for compost piles once they've dried out a bit (just to make sure they don't regrow) They're good for so much that I don't want to go on. But thought I should add my bit here as I have had my Boking 14s for 5 or so years now and love them, with the reservations above. Can't wait to make the comfrey salve, it will be so much better than the mess I just made trying to go too fast. Always a bad idea! Oh, if you want to buy Boking 14 you have to order root cuttings as tit doesn't produce seeds. You can look online to find many places. I don't know if they can be sent out the the country though (USA) . But the UK is comfrey central and may be able to ship roots. If you don't mind the invasive characteristics then you can get seeds.
Hi! Thank you for the review! Have you tried cutting an onion with the grater? I can’t find any demos with an onion even on HSN.
Yes, I did do onions with it once. But because the spout is not very large, I had to cut them smaller so they would fit into it. It did grate them ok.
@@CHwT Wow! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR RESPONDING! That was the only thing I never saw demonstrated. I’ll go ahead and put it in my cart. 🥰
