Had a 1981 280E, yes they are very well built but the build quality did not extend to the rust protection / resistance. Mine had rust everywhere despite careful washing, at the same time I had a 1979 MK2 2.8i Granada Ghia, that was rust free
This is exactly the thought I have about it. It’s perfect. I plan to buy one as my daily driver next year
Your photo of the 1955 is actually a 1956 (porthole windows)
I love the 60s interior and exterior looks.
That car is definitely not over engineered . The car is very reliable, but has massive rust issues. Drove two of them and two couples. Nest cars ever, but not on harsh street conditions with salt.
Couples = Coupes
stumbled across this review as I just have gotten the 230TE version myself. all the best from Indonesia!🇮🇩
That may be the best all-round car ever built.
Beauty! I never actually owned one - just rebuilt its 390 cid and Cruise-o-matic for my dad.
Bullet Birds are most beautiful cars ever made.
I really enjoyed this review; it made me laugh. About the window not opening properly, it's most likely dirt are caught up in the window's rubber seal. Give the whole rubber seal that surrounds and has contact with the window pane a good clean with soapy water then clean the rubber seal again with methylated spirit. Then spray silicone spray, it will glide again like new. If it still does it then you will also need to clean the copper element inside the window's switch. It's easy to dismantle and clean. Use a fine sand paper to clean any corrosion formed on the copper switch. This can happen to any ageing cars, especially if the switch got wet from rain, etc. I think there are some TH-cam videos on it. Thanks for the great review. Cheers
the swing-a-way steering wheel was the coolest feature!
You're awesome at car reviews!!!
I had a 1963 Thunderbird. Loved It. I didn't want to sell it but I didn't have any place to store it.
The 63 T-Bird is one of my most favorite T-Birds ever I love that sculpted door line that's a 61 and 62 didn't have.
Bloody good old cars.
You know, I LOVE Thunderbirds (I have a ‘63, red/white top) but they should’ve had a 2-seater version for the second gen AND a 4-seater. Like a sports package
I just love your '63 Tbird, I had a '64 for years and in fact sold it in England in '92. I now have a '65 in my garage. To get some better mileage I put a Holly 550 4 bbl carburetor on mine and on the highways I would get 18 mpg out of it. Which was a lot better than 12 mpg that I used to get. These are a lot of fun to drive and are well made cars. I wonder if my old '64 is driving around the UK somewhere? oh well, God bless.
Sorry for the random question! What was the registration of your old 1964? I have a blue 64 in the UK that was imported around 91/92 :)
@@benvenis9758 Before I sold it I had it painted two tone silver and a darker silver. It had a completely new blue interior that was blue. I don't have any paper work as for the registration number any more.
@@mikejohansson6711 oh that's curious... My car was silver at some point and it has a blue interior that was re done at some point, seats are a beautiful blue fabric with vinyl down the sides :)
@@benvenis9758 has the dash been recovered? I had mine recovered in California and he did a great job using two tone blue vinyl and it had a black vinyl top.
@@mikejohansson6711 I think so possibly, it's blue vinyl matching the side of the seats, and the car has a black vinyl top with thunderbird emblems still on the rear c post.
hi there, left a comment on your civic video about the bumper. wondered if you could remember what car the front bumper is from? as in the year/model as id like to replace mine too.
hi there, not sure if you still reply to comments, what is the front bumper called? what civic/year is it from? want to replace mine too.
It's the facelift front bumper and I believe they started production in 2003
Very nice arrangement you’ve got there! But I’ve heard older Hondas can be prone to the dreaded tin-worm - any sign of problems on yours? Particularly unerneath and therefore out of sight...
I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, O Lord, show this also to thy servant: whether after death, as soon as every one of us yields up his soul, we shall be kept in rest until those times come when thou wilt renew the creation, or whether we shall be tormented at once?" 76 He answered me and said, "I will show you that also, but do not be associated with those who have shown scorn, nor number yourself among those who are tormented. 77 For you have a treasure of works laid up with the Most High; but it will not be shown to you until the last times. 78 Now, concerning death, the teaching is: When the decisive decree has gone forth from the Most High that a man shall die, as the spirit leaves the body to return again to him who gave it, first of all it adores the glory of the Most High. 79 And if it is one of those who have shown scorn and have not kept the way of the Most High, and who have despised his law, and who have hated those who fear the Most High -- 80 such spirits shall not enter into habitations, but shall immediately wander about in torments, ever grieving and sad, in seven ways. 81 The first way, because they have scorned the law of the Most High. 82 The second way, because they cannot now make a good repentance that they may live. 83 The third way, they shall see the reward laid up for those who have trusted the covenants of the Most High. 84 The fourth way, they shall consider the torment laid up for themselves in the last days. 85 The fifth way, they shall see how the habitations of the others are guarded by angels in profound quiet. 86 The sixth way, they shall see how some of them will pass over into torments. 87 The seventh way, which is worse than all the ways that have been mentioned, because they shall utterly waste away in confusion and be consumed with shame, and shall wither with fear at seeing the glory of the Most High before whom they sinned while they were alive, and before whom they are to be judged in the last times. 88 "Now this is the order of those who have kept the ways of the Most High, when they shall be separated from their mortal body. 89 During the time that they lived in it, they laboriously served the Most High, and withstood danger every hour, that they might keep the law of the Lawgiver perfectly. 90 Therefore this is the teaching concerning them: 91 First of all, they shall see with great joy the glory of him who receives them, for they shall have rest in seven orders. 92 The first order, because they have striven with great effort to overcome the evil thought which was formed with them, that it might not lead them astray from life into death. 93 The second order, because they see the perplexity in which the souls of the unrighteous wander, and the punishment that awaits them. 94 The third order, they see the witness which he who formed them bears concerning them, that while they were alive they kept the law which was given them in trust. 95 The fourth order, they understand the rest which they now enjoy, being gathered into their chambers and guarded by angels in profound quiet, and the glory which awaits them in the last days. 96 The fifth order, they rejoice that they have now escaped what is corruptible, and shall inherit what is to come; and besides they see the straits and toil from which they have been delivered, and the spacious liberty which they are to receive and enjoy in immortality. 97 The sixth order, when it is shown to them how their face is to shine like the sun, and how they are to be made like the light of the stars, being incorruptible from then on. 98 The seventh order, which is greater than all that have been mentioned, because they shall rejoice with boldness, and shall be confident without confusion, and shall be glad without fear, for they hasten to behold the face of him whom they served in life and from whom they are to receive their reward when glorified. 99 This is the order of the souls of the righteous, as henceforth is announced; and the aforesaid are the ways of torment which those who would not give heed shall suffer hereafter." 100 I answered and said, "Will time therefore be given to the souls, after they have been separated from the bodies, to see what you have described to me?" 101 He said to me, "They shall have freedom for seven days, so that during these seven days they may see the things of which you have been told, and afterwards they shall be gathered in their habitations." 102 I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, show further to me, thy servant, whether on the day of judgment the righteous will be able to intercede for the unrighteous or to entreat the Most High for them, 103 fathers for sons or sons for parents, brothers for brothers, relatives for their kinsmen, or friends for those who are most dear." 104 He answered me and said, "Since you have found favor in my sight, I will show you this also. The day of judgment is decisive and displays to all the seal of truth. Just as now a father does not send his son, or a son his father, or a master his servant, or a friend his dearest friend, to be ill or sleep or eat or be healed in his stead, 105 so no one shall ever pray for another on that day, neither shall any one lay a burden on another; for then every one shall bear his own righteousness and unrighteousness." 2 Esdras 7:75 //////////////////
Thunderbirds and full sized Ford’s, especially wagons had horrible brakes in those days! They burned through brake shoes and drums like no other car!
mine i bought 3 yrs ago with 35k on the clock and it is strong and honest only had to put a new exhaust .
Great video!
I got mine 6 months ago as a new driver the car feels a little big but it’s soo lovely and cheap to tax and insure I couldn’t ask for more
同じいろの同じモデルを33年乗り続けています、ホイールはBBSのシルバーに替えたばかり。ゴールドのホイールもオシャレで素敵ですね。
Price a 53 -59 vette and compare to a thunderbird
Corvettes are worth more, and that is partially because they sold is such small numbers they're very rare, and made rarer still because they came apart in any kind of crash--completely apart. For sports cars of the era, I prefer XKE jaguars. Compare prices.
I have a facelift 05 model. 167k on its clock it's had a gearbox rebuild and a new clutch. The biggest issue is the rear arches the facelifted models where fitted with carpet style rear arch liners and mine have rotted the arches from the inside out. I have removed them wire brushed all the corrosion and treated it before undersealing it all. It'll need a professional to do it properly at some point.
But you forgot The Mustang! 🙄🙄😍😍
Beautiful! 😍😍 Front end so similarly designed as The Ford Corsair!
I believe the Swing Away Steering Wheel was an available on full-size Fords too.
Can you do a video where you replace that strut brace with a carbon fiber one bcuz sic.
Interesting. I never took one apart before, only replaced them. That was back in the seventies when brake boosters were readily available. We try to repair everything now.
8:53 sadly Peugeot went for that fake sound with the new 308 gti
soft lol fair play
Anything but in my experience especially the PS version
Wow quite rarely i see vids with a proper narratives, right now looking for a HH that is daily livable while owning lot of special stuff in a garage
I don’t agree that the 64 to 66 was less sporty. I thought it looked sleeker and less clunky
White exterior. 64-65 Magic
I agree. I have a 64 convertible. I think it is far and away a sportier and better looking car. Sure the 62 and 63 sold M-code with 3 2bbl carbs, but in 1965 you could order a tbird with a 427. There are only about 20 in existance, but they were dramatically faster than an m-code.
Flairbirds don’t look sporty at all. They look much more luxury-orientated than any of them imo. My favorite gens are the BulletBirds (1961-‘63) the ‘57, and the ‘65. I’ve got a ‘63
Was flair bird the 64-66 or 61-63 @@TheTrollMastah
I think the Hawk seemed Thunderbird rival just my opinion
If there's a God in Heaven He drives...th-cam.com/video/88Ko1xIkuHI/w-d-xo.html
Loved the review. Great thoughts and a fair assessment. But please clean the car next time. It'd add so much for so little effort.
I have owned one each of 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1966. I caluculate every tank of gas I have ever put into every car I have ever owned. These T-Birds get more like 15-16 mpg at 65 mph on the freeway. The heads were improved for the 1966 model, it had 315 hp. And it REALLY felt a bit quicker than the others I have owned.
Manual transmission were offered on Thunderbirds from 1955-1960, with or without an electric overdrive.
I own the latter 1.2 PureTech turbo facelifted variant. The gauge cluster meter is meant to be viewed over the steering wheel, not through it, hence the small-sized steering wheel. Apparently French people have different preferences of ergonomics.
This is how you drive one with the steering wheel lower down closer to your legs like a race car.
I just bought one Y reg 2001 auto for my wife to learning driving
Good video. I had an NC for a couple of years and then bought a couple of Eunos roadsters to clean up and sell on. Six years later I still have one of those na's, a relatively rare S-limited with the red interior. It's old, a bit rattly and not that quick but I love it. They're fantastic things to escape the mad world we are currently living in.
I have had one for 10 years...not the most efficient or smoothest car but it keeps going. Underbody rust, clouded headlights and noisy gearboxes are a problem though...but they are very practical cars which just do the job.
Had the same gold wheels on my NA, makes me miss it lol. Got silver ones on my current NC :).
Is there a more boring voice in the world than this bloke...
Where did you get the headlights from , very nice 👍
Believe or not I got them from Amazon of all places, but there are a whole range of places that can supply these headlights, if you search the net for 7inch Angel eye headlights they should pop up.
Ooo look at me im a wanker that puts cheap Chinese shite tyres on my hot hatch
Tudor? I think you mean two door.
I believe Henry Ford used the term 'Tudor' as a marketing tool back with the Model A's or the 1931 'De Lux Tudor'. He wanted to bring European imagery to his cars. It might be a reference to the House of Tudors of Penmynydd (Tudor monarchs that ruled the Kingdom of England) or simply a play on words that brought European imagery. Sometime afterwards either him or someone else started to refer to the four door models as "Fordor" (imparting the brand name of 'Ford').
'63 Was the last year that the Ford Motor Company referred to in its brochures as tuder...@@darrylhall9717
