    Hello. I don't know if you are following the comments here now. But I will give a big thanks for a great and interesting review, very good information for a new triker like me. You are showing very good skills in electrical systems and if possible I would like to ask you a question. I got disabled after an allergic reaction from a vaccine which attacked my nerveous system. I can hardly walk a few steps with crutches, but some specialists found more strength in my legs in a laid back position with good headrest like in a recumbent trike. I have untill 30 % of my earlier strength for 15-30 minutes on my best days. I prefer some exercising instead of nothing in a regulear electric wheelchair, and I have checked out some trikes that could suit me. I understand that I probebly have to use the boost mode and lower gearing. But with all the trike manufactorers telling that they like to costumize trikes for disabled people it surpriced me that only a couple of smaller manufactorers can deliver a "wheelchair mode" with the legal max speed for a wheelchair/scooter at 15 km/h in addition to the 25 km/h with pedalassist. Such a "wheelchair mode" with a throtle is only legal for disabled people qualified for a wheelchair sign on the trike. But I heard from my fysioterapist that due to a weak point in the back and neck for most people, this is a relatively common injury for older people from different influences during their lifes. If the manufactorer had such a solution, I suppose that a trike with some pedaling had been much better and cheaper for a lot of injuried people than their very expencive only electric options. I have been told to use the walk mode to get home when my legs suddenly stop working. Electrical systems is not my area of expertise, but could it be possible either with reprogramming the walk mode from max 6 km/h to 15 km/h, or an extra control card for such a "wheelchair mode" at max 15 km/h without pedaling. I don't have the right expert words for this but it's my way of explaining this. Thanks for your great review. Best Regards Arne Gerhardsen from Norway

    if you break the worn out chain on the lower side of the crank, then use a quick connect to attach/connect the new chain, and us the crank to pull the doubled chain thru all the tubes and derailleur, then you can disconnect the old chain and use that quick connect to secure the new chain.. No fishing.. :) I use the KMC (stretch proof) X9.93... that and using A.T.B. (AbsolutelyTheBest chain lube (red) and clean the chain often and apply drop on each link, I get about 3k miles per chain, and have never broke a chain. Proper maintenance is the key to longlife.. I have a BBSHD 1000k watt mid-drive. I put a small chain ring (narrow/wide 30T) to keep the motor spinning fast and cool. And never lug the motor down, (hard to do with a 350w mid-drive) Listen to how fast the motor is spinning and gear down when you hear it struggling.. that means the chain is also under enormous torque. (higher power level, lower gear is the key)

    I'm afraid it's nearly impossible to make the lights look unmodiffied on diamond frome or even two wheel recumbent if one wants to keep the weight down by attaching some IP65 5050 led strips or better ones (some manufacturers say wide beam angle is better, but narrow ones with lens or reflector should be easier to see in direct sunlight) to flexible 10mm neilon zip ties with heat shrink tube while keeping the turn signals 18cm appart at the back and 23cm at the front. Looks like the trike has some dazzling conical beam headlights which might make the turn signals hard to see. Some layered low and high beam with turn signals sitting above probably would be more visible. Is this solid state flasher relay with a buzzer or noisy electromechanical one? Isn't it possible to accidentally turn on the wrong switch since they are so close together and on top of one another? 3 pin switch and DPTS switch for hazard lights is another option.

      They're just L brackets made from 2.5mm alumium. Along the side that the battery sits on I'm attached so 3M Dual Lock which just helps to keep them firmly in place. The a couple of velcrose straps around each battery.

    Thank you. I'm looking forward to hearing more. I just purchased two of these displays against my better judgement, because I've always found the displays to be the weakest link in the whole system. I actually ditched the idea of LCD or LED displays and went with a simple analog display that just shows battery volume and 3 pedal assist settings and I have never had one of these fail. Instead of a display, I downloaded a GPS app for my phone called Urban Biker that works Great. Check it out . Thanks for the info. I look forward to seeing more.

    Informative and helpful video. From whom did you order the motor and battery? How do I get a cable extension? I have watched the video and it seems to be a fairly easy fit but do you know the crank lengths? I ride on 155mm as I have knee and hip problems and this relieves some of the pressure on the joints. Depending on the length of the cranks in the kit, can I get shorter ones from somewhere?

    • @etrike7004

  • @spinaway
    @spinaway 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    LLooking at the derailier, i think the problem is the distance from the Chainrings, it is further out due to the motor, so the derailier wont extend out that far, i think a modified derailier would do the trick, i will look into it myself.

    • @Swannking
      @Swannking 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did u mount both chainrings on the inside of the provided adaptor and then the cover on the outside? Is your smaller chainring offset inward or is it flat like the other? Last question, is there a spacer between the small and large chainring?

  • @spinaway
    @spinaway 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is no need to purchase two chain rings, you only need the 52t and use the existing 42t that came with the TSDZ2, that's what i used.

    • @Swannking
      @Swannking 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is the stock 42t ring offset inward or is it flat? Did u mount both rings together on the inside of the spider adaptor and then put the chain guard on the outside of the adaptor? How much clearance do you have on the inner ring from the motor housing? My ideal chain line on the trike is probably 45 mm. I was thinking about placing a spacer to kove the chainrings inward but not sure if it is going to rub on the housing.

    • @rickb6083
      @rickb6083 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know about trikes, but on a bicycle, chainline will be gad awful on a bigger ring if you mount it outboard (where the bashguard is). Inboard mounting already yields a bad chainline. The stock 42T has a 5mm inward offset. You can buy an expensive NW 52t ring with 10mm inward offset (from eco-bike). I installed one on a friend's bike and it centers up on the cassette fairly close. On my bike, I shimmed a 'stock' 44t ring inwards by 2mm, giving it a net 7mm inward offset. It still doesn't line up with the center of my cassette...its aligned one cog outward. Max shim inboard on a stock ring is about +3mm. Beyond that, the chainring bolt will scrape the plastic housing.

How many miles have you been on the road with the trike and how has the TSDZ2 proven itself? Due to the long chainline a 2-speed chainring is no problem due to diagonal running. Since the TSDZ2 chainrings are made of steel, there should be no abrasion. What does this look like with your chainrings?
