Cult? Really? KMA!
Thats a term of endearment!
@@atmcoldchills No, that's what the tea sips say....
@@larrymor that may be, but it’s been embraced. I’ve got messages literally correcting me on this matter when I said Aggies vs Irish on Twitter. The culture has changed my man, and the term meant to demean has take on a new meaning. Maybe that’s just new army, but the script has been flipped.
@@atmcoldchills army ain't no cult, that's the Marines
I must agree. We are not a cult and they are not saints

So many of the ‘23 highlights you’re showing came in losses that nearly were and should have been wins. It’s a reminder of how good last year’s team might have been with just a little more of what Elko’s bringing.

All this hype and then loses to Texas
Gig Em Aggies!
Like your show Central, but we’ve only lost 3 DL out of a very deep room. Nolen, Diggs and Overton. Overton mainly rotated in . Should not be much of a drop off as long as the others, Hicks et al, step up. Good experience for all the young guys. Gig’em
I like the staff Coach Elko is putting together! Jay Bateman is a great recruiter, Colin Klein is an up and coming OC and Tommy Moffitt is a legend.
We're potentially down, Diggs, Nolan, Raikes, and McKinley all pretty much a mainstay on the D line, only 3 to the portal. I'm interested to see what the other guys will do, very capable as you say, and a great opportunity for Turner to flex, Stewart to come into his own, Regis to prove he's a starter, and Sylla to be an every down guy. I'm watching out for Hicks, if anyone should get a big increase in playing time, it's him since he was virtually getting zero but could find himself in the rotation.
Deuce still hasn't closed the door on returning.
Elko is everyone’s top choice. I’m glad the AD did not settle or went for a 3rd,4th or5th choice. Elko is elite.
WELCOME HOME ELKO
I like it! Our players know him, they are comfortable with him, and they will work for him! No hire will be perfect, and he comes with some key questions, perhaps areas he can grow, but I think he give us the best chance to successful immediately.
Thanku as always.
Hey, I appreciate you for that! It’s hard to find the time to do these, with family, a 9-5 and then to spend time putting this together is a lot at times - sometimes too much. Thanks for being here with me!
Biork is likely gone after this. Idk who we’ll hire but its not gonna end well I don’t think
I don’t see how it could if the story is like it is. And another area of instability for this program. Not good!
I forgot what Lucci thought what happened with the whole Stoops thing
Complaining that Bjork isn’t answering you when he is most focused on 500 K+ former students is again a sign of narcissism
Is you accusing me of that in the same vain? In good faith, if you want to mention it came across like that, just do it. I’ve made no bones on here I’m open for critique. But don’t be personal without asking and trying to understand, don’t just assume you know me and my agenda. You could be helpful by asking; how you did it was not helpful. To set an example, did you just assume my intent because that was about you? I’m asking a question here, not accusing you. Big difference. To me, that’s how it came off. If you can extend me that same courtesy, then we can move on. It wasn’t about me, it was an example that he reached out, showed signs of caring to make a change, and then did very little if anything. Not to say he’s stupid for not doing what “I” said. I try to be informative, give my opinion, and entertain if I can and the occasion arises. I’d appreciate if you assume positive things first. Fair enough?
Dude the hair comment was a little narcissism
My dude, I’m just trying to be funny. See my comment to your other accusation. Why not just ask? Do you really think I’m so in to myself? Just have a laugh man, on me. My hair looked absolutely stupid, I thought the sarcasm was clear!
@michaeldodd6425 he just made a joke lol take ur negativity somewhere else
@@casongarrett thanks for pointing it out. Michael misunderstood me, I'm a super unserious person about things like that. I laugh at myself most days. I'm super short BTW and make short jokes all the time - about myself! I hope he has some better insight into me now and can enjoy himself rather than worry about those things. I do like to make a joke though! I'm working on some Aggie Dads Jokes, hope to share them with you all soon!
As you could probably guess, I am a little less optimistic about the hire. I always hope the Ags have a winning ticket but my gut tells me A&M trades 8-4 for 7-5 minus the wins against LSU. I felt a little like I was watching a Sumlin coached team vs LSU for part of Q3 and 4. Down 2+ possessions, watching the QB run around and try to make something happen. I really hope A&M doesn't go back to those performances with this new hire. Just watching big games to see how long before the other team eventually pulls away. If the new hire comes from a P5 conference I might feel a little better but I'm not sure A&M should be pulling straight from G5 right now. I don't want a Billy Napier, at least with what he's done so far. The G5 exception I was thinking about was Fritz from Tulane. He's got more Cotton Bowls than A&M does is the last 10 years! Either way, it's gonna be G5 coach poaching season for the P5 this offseason!
To be accurate, I'm more optimistic about moving on. The next hire could be a disaster. Mark stoops, might be that next error. But maybe he will be great. If he is the next guy, I think al the scrutiny up front is important so the expectations are laid by the fan base, b/c I'm pretty damn sure the admin aint going to do it
Please tell me we are not hiring Stoops?
Unfortunately, it seems it may be so. Right now there is a firestorm to try and prevent it. Most recent word is that it is premature
Well now A&M is gonna hire Mark Stoops..i wanna die. This isn’t an improvement at all
Kill me now! lol. unreal! But twitter is a fire storm right now. We might be able to push for a stalemate. Current word is it's not a done deal. We'll keep fight. I won't back down, if for no other reason, we gotta make sure admin and the hire knows the stakes.
Vegas made out like bandits. 0.5 point win for vegas
Stuart played a little bit in the ACU game.
Things are bubbling up around here
Ive seen some mixed signals on Stewart actually transferring. Im gonna wait til it happens to worry
same, my belief is he wants to stay. And for all his shortcomings, I think Jimbo had ppl bought in from a relational standpoint. Of course, now that he is gone, that could shake those ideas. Ppl have always branded him a pre madonna with his social media, I don't think thats the case. In two years, he's been a good team mate and a team player. I'll wait like you until it unfolds.
Great game overall. Very happy Robinson respected the school in a way no coach has since RC Slocum. Hoping whoever is brought in as HC keeps Robinson. I think hes potentially a lifer Anyone heard any interesting coaching rumors?
Yeah, I really hope he’s a hold over! Really good dude and we could use the relational aspect he has to recruiting
At the end you mentioned Terry Price holding over for next year. Did you mean someone else?
I meant he was a hold over from Sumlin. I hope E Rob can be a hold over too, as well as who else can make a case.
My guess is that offensively A&M will abandon the I form. I know Jimbo wanted to feature that a lot more but I'm sure petrino or whoever is in control of the offense will just do pistol/shotgun stuff. Either way, I want to see that 12th Man Kickoff Team again. I don't care if they just use them for cupcake games or teams like New Mexico. Hell even if just in the 4th quarter. When R.C. ended that tradition, he killed a little of that 80s A&M magic. Will they do that again? My bet is that they won't but it would sure add something back into A&M football. Jimbo should have done it.
Coach Fran brought the 12th man team back but he only used them when they were up big on an opponent also Jackie took one 12th man on the road since the whole walk on's couldn't travel due to the NCAA scholarship limit for the road. I believe Slocum dismantled the 12th team and gave it to just one player was because Texas Tech ran a kickoff return on them for a touchdown.
@@lilchi721 It would be nice to see them back. Even on the opening kick but it would be even better to see them used more often. Half walk ons half not, anything.
The amount of ignorance about the value of this job among college football fans is astounding.
Glad it happened! A&M needed to move on
Idiots. This is why A&M WILL ALWAYS be a 'meh' team. I HATE quitters.
If Jimbo wants to coach next season, I can think of 4 SEC teams that would take him. Those being Arkansas, South Carolina, Florida and Vandy. I also have no trouble seeing him turn those into tough 9 win teams and if he goes to the east, he may be able to pull a quick one on Georgia on a good year and sneak into the SEC title game from the east side. I just think something else is going on at A&M, factors that people aren't considering, things that are not obvious that go beyond simple spending power, talent and facilities. I mention Jimbo's next post because I kind of expect him to have success somewhere else, especially if he goes to a historic powerhouse that is down right now like Florida. After 4 coaches and 20 years, I don't think A&M's drought is Jimbo's creation and it would be peak irony to see Jimbo at least win a conference title somewhere else. I don't want to hear the peanut gallery call any coach a hack ever again if that ever happens but that is years away if ever.
He definitely offers the recruiting edge those programs have been lacking. As far as X's and O's, I just don't see now that is palatable, but that coming from us who have had to deal with him. He's proved that no matter who he recruits, he can't develop them or use them in a way that maximizes their abilities. right? I don't think that would stop any of them b/c it would still be an upgrade. But Jimbo is limited unless he changes.
@@atmcoldchills You mentioned the big wigs at A&M wanting to get ahead of the Texas game in 2024. I don't see how they get ahead in a year. if Jimbo coaches that game it probably comes down to the last play. Maybe Connor or Henderson pull some magic and win it or they lose by a FG. Now they have to "get ahead" by hiring someone who may have never been a HC in the SEC. Jimbo isn't even a year removed from hiring Petrino. Maybe they could have kept developing their plan but seems like the decision makers would rather place their hopes on something else now. We shall see.
I'm not sure there is anything in the internal workings at A&M that prevents success that can be achieved in South Carolina, Kentucky and Florida. Vandy is a whole different animal. Florida has been a powerhouse in the past. Talent from Texas high schools disperses all over the place. And UT has been the big dog in Texas historically. So acquiring this talent is always a battle. But if Jimbo lands a 5 year 50 million dollar contract with an SEC East team good for him and all the money he will receive yearly. All in all he will make much more in a year than the standard SEC coach. Will Jimbo land a job before Texas A&M lands a head coach?
@@jaym8257 Well South Carolina does have a good run under Spurrier from 2010-2013. Consecutive double digit seasons and good bowl wins. A&M with tenfold the resources hasn't strung together consecutive double digit seasons since the early 90s. Seems like A&M, with everything they have, the donors, the 12th Man, etc, should be able to hit 10 wins on the regular. Now, that is a gross simplification of success but there just seems to be something else going on. Barring just plain stupid coaching hires, which I don't think is the case, A&M seems to have a rare position in CFB that money cannot solve.
@@GridironMasters Don't disagree. A&M has not found the right QB since Johnny Football. Mond was okay. But since JFF, they have not found the right QB who stayed healthy.
Billy Liucci will be able to layout how the new coach is chosen and who is the point person there. Jimbo is owed 19 million within 30 days. And then the remainder in yearly installments throughout the life of the contract. The sting is not bad bad it could be but it is persistent.
yeah, well I'd like to know just who the point person is. It's one thing to know who they are, and another to be their accountability. I'm tired of kicking the can down the road, the critical takes coming from that is avenue is watered down at minimum. That point person should be made aware of their responsibility. The trouble is, IMO, it gets masked because they find the person, and then ultimately a committee that rotates decides makes the decisions from the candidates, so it ends up on us. Who the us is is another problem. Media outlets haven't done any favors in steering us away from less than favorable coaches. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe there are those big names out there that were critical of the extension, I just haven't heard them!
@@atmcoldchills In reality there is likely a search committee working with the AD. There is probably a chair of that committee as the lead. My guess is they've been thinking about this for a while. Consider the sinking feeling you had after Miami thumped the Ags. The search committee probably started the next day. And it is possible some of this goes back to the 5&7. I don't think the next hire will be an ill conceived decision. Some pundits out there, especially those associated with the SEC Network think the next head coach has been ID'd and talked to already. It's prudent to be the first in the coaching carousel this year.
It's destruction in value in the program versus the sting of the buyout. The destruction in value in the program must have been greater. On another note, both Henderson and Reed as dual threats looked intriguing.
Those two are very intriguing, which points to the the whole destruction of value part you speak to in a different way right. Like why was Jaylen not a viable option or seen as the better option. Thats on a lower level it seems though, because the real destruction happens next year.
It's long overdue..!!! By at least 3 years.
I hated the extension. I understood, but I thought it was a bad decision. It seems if he has the right mix, and can do some things in the first few years, but after that, he's cooked
On the Henderson issue, don't discount the fact that Henderson has been practicing this whole time. I think it is very likely that Henderson in week 1 is not the same as Henderson now. I also saw a fair amount of deep inaccuracy that, against all the other defenses, would likely have been exploited.
I do agree with that. Do you think the simplified approach and running dynamic were game changers?
@@atmcoldchills Well I don't know if it was simpler. There's no way to know that very well unless we can see the complexity of the game plan written out and compare them. The scrambling ability always has the potential to create positive plays where there are none but can also indicate that the offense is nothing without it depending on who the QB is.
A day too early my friend!
I think the point still stands. Woodward was instrumental in getting us to this point. He kicked the can down the road, threw money at it, probably by way of convincing people, and maybe he did his job, then we approved. The over arching point that the championship is not a coaching hire away until we fix internal issues. Identification of a candidate is the first, but maybe least important when it comes to applying pressure. Jimbo's job performance evaluation cannot have been good. Maybe he decided to buck his boss, who knows.
I was right you T-shirt fan! Jimbo is getting fired.
Only Texas has T-shirt fans. We have 2%ers, or haven't you heard?
JIMBO IS BEING FIRED! Liucci and Brett McMurphy reported it
Pretty crazy, very franchione esk. You think it was a good move?
@@atmcoldchillsyeah i think it was. Too many issues not fixed and the team still isn’t winning big games. Time to move on. I actually think Addazio and a lack of ST Coordinator did him in this year
Good performance. I do worry that things could morph into a Sumlin situation where the offense has the potential to score 50 points in a game but only if they can use tempo which means the offense is just fast but can't actually impose their will schematically on a defense beyond lining up faster and everything that comes with tempo. I think of 2014 vs LSU. The whole game was Johnny just running around making desperate throws.
Adaptation IMO was Sumlins downfall, which is in large part Jimbo's too in my mind.
@@atmcoldchills Maybe so but Sumlin's teams just seemed fast but flimsy. They couldn't take a punch to the body so to speak. At least with Jimbo, the team can go to the final round. Doesn't matter now though, we'll see who they dig up to be the next guy to eventually get fired for going 8-4. I'm a bit cynical atm though.
