Who cares about the name as long as they dis a good dubb. The named it like that because the boy name belonged to the boy name and thw girl belongs to the girl. Regaurdless of the name the dubbers did a good job and from what I remember hmong folk tales had a story like this that's why they used those names.

@misszsp I agree its Hmong people's adaptation of the story, the girls name is yeeb yaj yuam and the boy's name tsim yeeb thaj...in the Hmong adaption of it there was no butterfly involve haha

@vwjmailao Well Hmong people's got their adaptation of this story too.....I don't think it's really them using the girl's name for the guy rather it's the guy's name in the Hmong folk tale.

Honestly does anyone remember why this dubbed version was only sold for a while and then suddenly disappeared? I know why! It was because the names we're dubbed wrong. the main guy's name got dubbed as "Ying Tai", which is the main girls name in the movie. I don't remember what name they dubbed her though. There was then another dubbed version that was released, which was more accurate in the dubbing, because it was dubbed in Green Hmong, which was way better, because everything was accurate.

This movie is great: beautiful story, nice photo, good actors... and lots of poetry. I love it when the rain washes her face or the wind gives her bride dress back before she is reunited with her lover. Amazing movie. My fav version is this one translated by chinese miao people.
