Adding Upper Cabinets to my Custom Shop Cabinet Build
Follow along as I finish this shop cabinet build so I can get on with some other summer projects. I build the cabinet carcasses and hang them on the wall with a homemade french cleat system, which makes it really easy to install them by myself. Then, I installed some new counter height electrical outlets and a tile backsplash. Check out how far my shop has come as I do my best to make my shop great again!

I used a pile of scrap lumber and some other items I had on hand to create a "Spray Paint Caddy" to organize my spray paint cans and make them easily accessible. Follow along as I inch my workshop towards greatness!

Looks like shit
Before the internet as it is today; while fishing in Thurmond Lake, Clark's hill around 1998, I hooked one of these from the bottom of the lake. After cleaning it up, replacing the duel mantles, replacing the glass, I was pleasantly surprised to find it was in perfect working condition. I contacted Coleman with the model number to ask about the manufacturer date. I was told that the model was from 1973. Six months later, while night fishing below the same dam, I accidentally knocked it off the ledge back into the same watery grave where I'd resurrected it six months earlier. I sure hope someone else saved it. By the way, I never knew this was the correct method for lighting it.😮
Power wash it too !!
Nooo don't paint brick wtf 😒
Well, sometimes the people want them painted, definitely not for everyone! Thanks for watching!
how to get the sixe foe the high stairs
These are know as petromax lantern 🏮 in Mumbai
Cool fact! Thanks for watching!
John, your shop is way too clean!! You making the rest of use look bad!!
Thanks Bill, I wish it was even cleaner!
Great job Jon! I need to build some of these too!
Thanks Ben, and thanks for watching!
That vent is a great idea. Besides roasting it would be great for soldering, types of 3d-printing, or using some of those stinky wood finishes. Heck, you could put in an electric BBQ and grill there! :-)
It really has been handy to have!
Nice job Jon!!
Thanks for watching Bill!
Great intro !
Hilarious!
Getting dizzy from this one! Love it!
Imagine how dizzy you get filming it!
I really hope he doesn't just blow everything into the road
It's blown into an empty lot next door, thanks for watching!
Cleaner than mine!! You got me there.
I'm not gonna hold it against ya, Bon keeps ours pretty clean!
Definitely cleaner than mine!
Not much competition so far, better get out there and clean that driveway!
Jon - we also feed the local deer. I just need to install a sprinkler system to keep the plants fresh for them.
That was my plan, works well so far!
Most interesting! I think your the first person I have ever seen repack their bearings and never take the wheel off first! One question; you said you went to the auto parts store and they matched you up with some grease seals. Why didn’t you pick up some new cotter pins while you were there? But you got new grease in there, that is the important thing. Take care. Tom
Thanks for watching Tom, I absolutely should have picked up some new cotter pins while I was getting the new seals, but I guess it just never occurred to me at the time.
Diamond job. Please lift up hinge link, please
The hinges were purchased at pontoonstuff.com.
Thank you
Good job, could you send me the link trim coil that you used, please
The trim coil was purchased at Menards, it's actually for bending flashing or gutters. Pontoonstuff.com sells some nicer trim coil, this stuff worked fine and was very low cost, but it's not very shiny.
👍
Great job! Love the new cabinets.
They were fun to build, but now I have to do something with all the stuff that was on those shelves I took down... Not that much fun. Thanks for watching!
Boots and eye protection seem to be missing from this dude's attire.
Great observation! Thanks for watching!
Looks great. Home Depot has a product called Rapid Set Asphalt Resurfacer. Highly recommend.
I may give it a try, I'm not impressed with the Menards brand. Thanks for watching!
@@jon-bonworkshopme either! I’m trying to love Menards, but in terms of driveway products Home Depot or Lowe’s is the way to go imo. But yeah, it’s a cement like product that is sealable
I'll give it a try, thanks!
knocked it out of the park, Looks super good!
Thanks for watching!
Turned out nice! That is a lot of work.
It was, and I guess it will be every year!
That's really cool. You could do this for a lot of different things!
One of many messes that I've finally cleaned up, I'm sure I will use this method again!
Just had Keurig coffee. This looks much better!
It's my favorite want to have coffee, I just don't do it very often!
Good to see you used a stainless perc instead of the common cheap aluminum. Most cheap china percs are not anodized well and leech metals into the coffee.
Wow, I'm glad too!
Best way to do it!
Agreed!
Great job. Really cool to see you put in custom rails.
Thanks Ben, we needed something see thru, this worked out great!
I have two!
There's a lot of them around!
Great Video. I'm still going to bring it over.
Sounds good Mike!
Inspirational! May I ask what you had to weld?
I had a new back gate welded up. The original boat did not have access out of the rear of the boat.
Great information.
Thanks for watching!
Amazing the condition/durability of these lanterns. Thanks for the tips
My pleasure, hope it helps!
Just wish there was a way to preserve the mantels in transport. Always broke by the time i get the the camp ground.
I've had the same problem, I guess you just have to keep some extras on hand.
I've seen someone made a mantle out of metal screen and it worked well
Holy smokes! That is a lot of work and it turned out really nice!
Thanks for the kind words Ben! Custom railing video coming soon!
Great job!
Thanks for watching!
Where you get the lights???
Part #
Amazon has tons! Thanks for watching!
Glad you’re back!! 🎉
Good to be back, thanks for watching!
I am not looking to doing this on my trailer, but I feel more confident that I can do it after learning these tips and tricks.
Very cool. Ran into this with hardie plank siding and how to make this look good and water tight. I like your breaker finder! Cheers
These are the faves I used, thanks for watching!
amzn.to/45LJwAt
Great job! I fear this is something I will need to do myself very soon. What kind of screws did you use, is there a link for those? Do you recommend using any sort of wood sealer to better protect the boards?
Amazing job
You know me! Just chillin in the seed bucket 😎
Question regarding your blast gate. Shouldn't there be a blast gate at the router lift as well? You will lose a lot of suction when connecting to the external blast gate for your sander because it is still pully from your router lift.
I'm not sure if I missed showing the blast gate under the router lift, but it is there, thanks for watching!
Did you base this off any plans? I don't recall you saying... it looks awesome
The plans I base my bench on were purchased from another TH-cam channel called Shop Nation, I did mention it in the beginning of one video. Thanks for watching!
