Shooting Expired 2009 Polaroid Film in 2021
มุมมอง 1.3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Today we will be shooting an original Polaroid 600 Film pack which expired in November of 2009, this is perhaps one of the last produced. Let’s see what kind of results we can expect! Thank you for watching the video, Don't be afraid to let your thoughts known in the comments. This is my first video so it’s a bit rough around the edges but I like keeping it here to show my steady improvement. A...
I just found one in a thrift store with lens. It did not have a battery, but once I got home, the camera started up for me. I am looking forward to using this camera in the near future.
I got one, love the sound when i pres the shutter
Great to see someone else with a T90, T70 and the AE1P!!! I have those, and all GREAT cameras
Very nice video, thinking to get this, how about a video for that T90? 🧐
I ended up selling the T90 but if you're curious, the Weight is ridiculous and the camera body itself is huge. Excellent camera but the F-1n is 90% as good with about 50% of the weight and bulk. The camera was a lot of fun though, basically had everything you could ever need and DX code reading on an FD mount canon was my favourite feature
@@analognoise2893 damn, i just bought a T70 and cant wait for it
Great video, shame you stopped posting videos 😢
Thanks mate, I'll hopefully pick it up again someday but would like to make videos on all my interests. Music, Cars, etc
@@analognoise2893 You should do it!
I have an AE-1P since 1984 that I bought in West Berlin, Germany. Still use it along with my recent purchase pf an A1.
Isn’t it amazing just how thin the old Polaroids are… they feel more like instax prints…
Let me laugh at my expense... I own the contax T since 1984. The marvelous top shutter speed ofb1/500. It does make a descent conversation subject and a slik and good looking paper weight.
A coworker just gave me one, she was going to take it to a thrift shop. It's like he said, a simple point and shoot with slr lens quality. It's been fun.
Hallo und liebe Grüße aus Düsseldorf Germany , eine sehr interessante und schöne Beschreibung und traumhaft schöne Fotos 👍👍👍
Are they truly so unreliable? I really want to buy one but you make it sound like they're going to break after a couple of rolls of film. And they're really not that cheap on eBay right now. Body only is going for like £30 and with a lens it goes as high as £50-60. I know that's not super expensive but I don't wanna waste my money on future landfill.
Hi, The sad truth about these later electronic cameras are that they will always be destined for landfill. There's a lot of things that can go wrong and they're not economical to repair once they do. If you are set on the canon FD system I'd get an A or F series camera as they are mostly mechanical and not electronic. However, if you can find one of these that is confirmed to be working and a good price there's no reason not to go for it.
The 12/1998 polaroid film did not work!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To be honest, i find the t50 pretty annoying. Half of the time you will get one with a broken battery door, the others had either leaky batteries or something else fried the electronics. The viewfinder is nice and bright though. For analog beginners I‘d pretty much suggest any camera other than the t50. It is just so annoying to hunt for one in decent condition. If you spend the same amount of time looking for cameras you can easily find a canon eos body+lens, probably in better condition for the same price. It doesn’t look retro, but you can actually learn how to use a camera on them.
I watched your video because someone is giving me one Monday
What’s the ideal film to shoot daytime ?
anything with an ISO of below 200, the general rule is more Light = lower ISO. I like Fuji C200, Kodak Gold and Colourplus, and also Portra 160. However if you're going in between outdoors and indoors 400 is a good in between, Portra 400 being a good film at that ISO
I just ordered some 600 Polaroid film on eBay that said it expired on 12/1998!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How was the outcome of these?!?!?!?
Hi. Thanks the great review. I just picked up a TVS and my frame counter LCD has a bit of a leaking issue. I’m wondering how you were able to replace yours? Do you happen to have instruction for this somewhere? Thanks!
Hi Ross, I had a look and can't locate any guides for this, unfortunately. However, this can be done relatively easily. Once you get the top plate off you can disassemble the LCD assembly which I believe might not even need screws, drop the new LCD in and then re-assemble.
Nice! Thank you for the info!@@analognoise2893
Nice review and good presentation, my camera is just shipping along the way can’t wait to feel in my hand
Thanks for this, best video on this camera ive seen. Just ordered mine
Do you still have yours? Im curious if its still working. Cheers
Thanks for the kind words mate! I still have mine and it's working great. I purchased the G1 this year as well which I have loved using. If I were to make a new video it would be on that camera.
My dumb teenage ass got hyped 10 years ago by this camera, bought a whole set to a neighbour for 100€ (camera + 50mm lens + telescopic lens + flash + couple glare and uv lens + 5 films). I used 2 films and after that phones became popular to photograph. Today i digged it from my closet and giving it a try again. This video was amazing to fully understand it
Something I always forget is that it doesn't have an aperture priority mode, makes u wonder why someone chooses it over the A-1 then considering it's usually more expensive for some reason
Such a good video, everything you need to know about it and well put, also the pacing is perfect, not too breef nor too long to loose focus, will be watching more As for theT50 I've got it a couple of weeks ago, I think everything works (other than the computer that is, I'll need to shoot with it to know that), tbh I haven't been looking at it seriously but I really wanted the 50mm f/1.8 prime lens with it so I bought the whole thing for 40€. Haven't had a chance to go shoot with it yet but I guess it could be a nice camera with a cheap(er) film in it such as Gold200 because just a few days back I was at a mountain with beautiful autumn colours yet I had a black&white film in my A-1, seems like a perfect thing for a T50 in the bag for just in case. Considering I've gotten into film photography just a couple of months ago I'm quite happy with the collection so far, first got the A-1 with the zoom 35-70mm f/4 lens, then the 299T flash (for just 10€ I couldn't believe it) and now the T50, I guess the next thing would either be a 28mm FD lens or perhaps Canonet QL17 GIII, really wondering about the rangefinder experience, and the holy grail would be a FTb QL just because it's fully manual, no electronics except the lightmeter and also no plastics in the build as there is in the A and T series
Awesome stuff mate, thanks for the nice remarks and it sounds like you've got a good collection of FD Bodies and lenses. I own the QL17 GIII but the rangefinder patch is very very dim and the camera isn't really for me, I purchased it a couple years ago and have never used it. If you want a fully manual FD body I would lean more towards the Canon F-1 if you want something of High Quality. The F series uses the same lenses but was the pinnacle of Canon at the time, if you can get it with the 50mm F.14 even better!
Every sx-70 camera is a little bit different. Some of the light meter windows or darker somewhere lighter. One of My SX-70s exposes fairly leaving the dial in the middle with the modern film.
while this can be true yours is likely darker due to oxidisation on the electric eye, this happens to all sx-70s. Mine had a service last year and was cleaned, meaning it is closest to a new sx-70 in terms of functionality. More oxidation will result in an inaccurate light meter reading
Always nice to find another small channel like me. Keep up the good work. We're working towards some good things!
These were great shots, bud. Thank you so much for this!
Wonderful and informative video! I am receiving a Model 1 on Monday, 03/26/2023. Bought it from Goodwill Finds for $134. The camera itself looks great and has been tested. It comes with the original leather case and even has the instruction manuals with it. I cannot wait to get it! I want to pick up the SX-70 accessory kit some day soon.
Great video mate! Thanks for the information :) Just managed to get 2 for £20 🤯📸
Thanks for the heads up about always keeping this one in "A" I thought it would pick a shutter speed for the other apertures, but apparantly it doesn't :)
I picked on up on goodwill for $15 works flawlessly perfect little camera almost like a point and shoot but with swap able lens with all the A1 lens
Amazing video. I have this camera since last spring, amazing one for the money. I shoot it with Kodal Gold 200.
Amazing
Thank you! your video was very informative, subscribed.
Thank you so much for this.
Hello, helping pay for my son’s college so we are going through a camera collection someone gave my son. We sold a broken T50 for $30 about a month ago. Batteries wouldn’t get it started with foil held in place as the door was missing. Today we found another one, door intact but batteries corroded inside. I got them out, cleaned it with alcohol, and it takes a photo. I also have the original box and all the paperwork inside. How much is that all worth, do you suspect?
The camera itself is not worth a lot, especially if it has evidence of corrosion. My camera is pristine and was only $40 Australian dollars. The box and paperwork may boost the value up a bit but I only see it being worth maybe $100 ish. If you have found any lenses, that is where the value is.
@@analognoise2893 we have some lenses, I’m getting to that box soon. You mean a lens the over and above the one on the camera, I assume. There is a 1983 catalog in the box for Canon lenses, and a guide for the T244 flash, but currently I’m not sure if we actually have either. I see a T50 and T244 combo on eBay for $30. So sounds about right.
I used some 600 Polaroid film last summer that expired on 4/2005 and it still worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very good presentation
Best review on youtube for the TVS. All the other videos on here the people reviewing it are not even sure what they're talking about and bash it into bits because it's not the T2
Awesome video mate. Need more Aussie film togs on TH-cam!
Hello! I have this camera too, it was my Dad’s, and I’ve been using it to try and learn more about photography! I also have the 70-210 f4 lense but I can’t figure out how to attach it to the camera! I’m thinking it might be broken and I just don’t know it! Any help would be appreciated!
Hello, anyone know what is the usage of the special function “focusing operation” value 0 vs 1 in Tvs ???🧐🧐🧐
cool review, but really who cares about the sharpest focal length. embrace softness.
Just bought one of these a couple days ago! This video describes the camera perfectly, this channel deserves so much more attention
Portunity to purchase an open box TVS for what I believe is a fair deal. Can I assume that if one is an unused condition. Will the ribbon cable be good since its been unmolested.
From what I've heard that's a less than ideal situation because lack of use can cause the cable to become more brittle.
@@analognoise2893 Ill let you know how it turns out. I ended up buying as it was the cleanest example I could find that included all of the accessories. $650 wasn’t to bad and Willing to take a chance.
hi do you have a link for your case please? i search for one thanks in advance
It's an original Contax accessory so you can't purchase it new, Sorry. The best bet is eBay
Hey there love the video. I have a question about replacing the film counter lcd. Did you have to solder anything? Mine is not working and I have seen the replacements on ebay but I cant find any install instructions. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks again
I couldn't find any instructions either, I ended up watching Casio watch repair videos. In short, all the parts are drop-in. The flash LCD is soldered on but the counter is very straightforward. Just remove the main screw and you'll be able to lift everything out.
I’ll be trying out packfilm for the first time soon. Got some 2014 cold stored FP-100C and two packs of 2009 cold stored 664. I’ve got two cameras on the way including a Polaroid 103, not sure how good a camera it is but it doesn’t look too bad, just need to work out the exposure battery situation.
This will probably start your addiction to Pack-film like it did for me. The battery is definitely something to think of, I managed to avoid it because the 180 is fully manual. A thing to keep in mind as well is, check your bellows. Make sure they’re light-tight.
@@analognoise2893 I did also buy an EE 55 which is fully plastic and takes regular batteries near the inside of the lens I think? So that will be my backup in case I can’t get the 103 properly working.
Do you know Wgere I can get the smaller lens for it? Thank you
Ebay is a great place for lenses, or just your local listing site; gumtree/facebook market etc. This is the FD 50mm f1.4, the 28mm f2.8 is also small.
@@analognoise2893 thank you - I will google this small one!
Great video!! thanks💪💪
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed
Got it after watching your video! But mine unfortunately broke after 3 rolls 🥲🥲
I’m so sorry to hear! I’ve shot about 40 through mine now, you should contact the seller and get a refund
