A group of friends and I became adventurous and decided to take to the mountain trails after midnight. There were 4 of us, but i was the only one that carried a pistol and took my NOG's(night vision goggles) attached to my bump helmet for a hike. Along the trails, i felt uneasy as if someone was behind me. I kept looking back every second and scanning the entire area, nothing, dead quiet. The rest of my folks only carried a flashlight and a knife. We were about 1 hour in, when suddenly the 2 guys in front of me starting sprinting back the direction we came from. Shocked, i yelled at them to wait and ask what is it. They yelled saying theres a demon on the treeline. Despite the chaos, the friend next to me took out his knife out and i took the pistol out. Decided to retreat slowly, and calmy told my remaining friend to stay calm and urged him to never run regardless of what we saw or heard. When we finally got back to the car, the friend that accomapnied me back said that while were walking back halfway, he shone his flashlight at what appeared to be a tall lanky figure, with dark eyes and their mouth was sewned together. He was terrified when he saw it, but noticed i didnt see it and didnt want panic to ensue. The first 2 wussys that ran also confirmed the same sighting. Both sighting within 10 ft, however i couldnt see even with night vision! Creepy shit! If i actually saw it, I honestly wouldn't think I'd be able to pull the trigger on it. Flight mode would take over instantly 😂

What's "they" and "them". I've lived in the Appalachians all my life, and I've violated rules 2,4,5,6,7, and 8 if buddy means human not dog. Thr scariest thing I've ever seen was a bear, and for rule 2, I ran towards it to protect my dog. (Nothing happened to me or it, but don't be an idiot like me). I've also been stalked by coyotes before. Don't be scared of those fake monster stories, take it from a native hillbilly, they're lies. Just take a gun, dog, knife, maybe some blankets and food, and maybe a friend, and you'll be fine.

I guess some people need to make life seem more magical than it actually is.

Honestly whistling is fine in some places but I do a lot of bird chirp noises and a lot of places I’ve been have mountain lions and I have recently learned mountain lions use bird chirping sounds for calls so I have stopped doing that since the last time I had a mountain lion stalk up next to the trail my family was on and started chirping from me whistling at the birds 😭
