Layout Tribute

Had to tear down this incarnation of the layout due to an unexpected move. The new house has a train room, so I’ll be starting on a new one this summer!
Overland Models CB&Q M2-A 2-10-2 with Tsunami2 Sound
มุมมอง 1.6Kปีที่แล้ว
Showing off my latest project, a sound equipped 2-10-2 from Overland Models. I installed a Tsunami2 sound decoder in the boiler with speakers in both the smokebox and tender. I also added a headlight, cab light, and firebox flicker effect.
Running My CB&Q FT-F2 Set
มุมมอง 1.5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I modeled one of the Burlington Route’s 3 unit FT-F2 sets from a Stewart FT A-B set and a Highliner kit for the F2. The set is detailed for the late 1940’s, when they were permanently coupled. Details include handrails, etched metal grills, firecracker radio antenna, and mu hoses.

Check you bolster screws before they fallout and are lost. On one of my cars it had fallen out but stuck to the wand's magnet.
Thanks for the f20 emergency light . I didn't know how to make it work.
Nice! I'm modelling the CB&Q in the 1960s and I'm planning on building a set similar to this since one F2-FTB-FTA set made it to the mid 1960s
Amazing
Very nice review! In my case, saved up a bit and purchased the brass version from Precision Scale Company by Boo-Rim of South Korea. Also had the Pacific Fast Mail version and a Rivarossi. Love the Blue Goose!
imagine paying $900 for this toy?! model railroaders are suckers.
Always hard to have to tear one down. I have had to do it 5 times. Good luck with the move and look fwd to new updates on the next version of a layout!
Could I have a parts list for the locomotive? I'd like to do something similar.
Love the locomotive. How did you get the drive rods to look real.
I didn't actually do anything to the rods. They are silver right out of the box. I did paint the driving wheels black. It makes a huge difference to not have the shiny metal axle center or driver tires.
Did you paint this? It looks and runs excellent!
Thanks! I bought it painted. I only made a few touch-ups where the paint had started to chip. I did all of the decoder installation and wiring.
Where could I buy that set?
This set has a lot of added details. If you want to recreate it, the FTs are from Stewart Hobbies and the F2 is made from a Highliners shell kit.
Very good lokomotiv.
Very good lokomotiv. 🤝
Can the distance between the tender and locomotive be adjusted to be closer? It never looks right with that big gap between them...also is there a fold down deck plate between the locomotive and tender? Thanks
If your trying to sell us on the sound system, the background music is very distracting. just saying! :) They have come a long way with sound systems in decoders for sure.
Sometimes Model TRain Looks better than the ones in real life
This was Santa Fe's weak answer to Southern Pacific's new streamlined San Joaquin Daylight of the late 1930s, but it's "Valley Flyer" operated only as far as Bakersfield (buses were supplied further south to LAUPT--Barstow was too far out of the way). Santa Fe painted heavyweight cars to match but it was not a pretty sight. Streamlined "Golden Gate" trains arrived after WW2 but again, only as far south as Bakersfield.
Sorry to say but, the words: I don’t know, I assume ect are that disturbing
Melting boilers ???
most BLI models are diecast and metal, so they wont melt, but plastic boilers can melt, this is a huge common issue with bachmann and sometimes on plastic BLI models
Can you make a wider broader video of the whole layout I've just started watching your channel interesting
Nice job!!
Thanks for sharing your review of this locomotive. I have a Rivarossi Blue Goose locomotive that I bought in the early eighties. I have recently purchased this BLI version. I am very happy with this one, as I was with the Rivarossi version. (Even though it wasn't totally accurate). The Rivarossi Blue Goose ran flawless for decades. Rivarossi did produce a set of passenger cars in the same livery as the locomotive. While these are not prototypical. They look good behind the locomotive. When I get settled in my next place of residence. I will dig out the passenger cars from my storage.
I hope they make cars to match.
You sure know your stuff around a steam locomotive. Nice colors on this one. I agree it could have been better. Besides the points you mentioned. I don't like the fact that the cilinders are leaning forward and the crosshead guides are sloping downward. Also the Philips head in the excentric crank looks awefull. And why are the whistle and safety valves painted brass color!? On most regular BLI's these parts are real brass not painted 😂 The only extended chimney is a shame, a low one would compliment the sleek line of the engine.
All of the lights are individually controllable, as is required by the prototype. You need to read the manual before doing a negative review.
I wonder if the same decoder could be installed in a G scale USA trains engine.
Love it!
The fun continues! Love it still.
I love these two models!
This is pretty dang cool!
At the asking price that I have seen I think they really need to go back to the drawing board and discuss Quality Assurance and maybe get the smoke right while having that sit down...Have they never seen a Roco, MTH or other manufacture that knows what they are doing with regards to smoke? How can somebody at BLI look at this video and not be ashamed?
Looks good ,, sounds good ,, runs smooth ,, WABBLES ALOT !!!!!!!!!
Rear driver way out of round.
I love the Blue Goose! What a beauty.
Do you know if the smoke can be turned on/off
Yes, there is an ON OFF button, most likely it is on the bottom of the locomotive.
Just found your channel, you deserve more subs. Always loved the Blue Goose, definitely among my favorite ATSF engines. Great job
Definitely one of my favorite locomotives it does suck there’s a lot of flaws for its price but I’d definitely still love to buy one whenever I get the money
Made in China.....like the virus
It looks to me as if the crosshead guide on the right (engineer's) side is tilted downward as it moves towards the back of the engine. I also noticed the flashing or dried paint problem in the front grill. By the way, the correct pronunciation of 'boxpok' is "box spoke." The term's spelling is admittedly confusing, but it literally means box spoke, and should be pronounced that way.
Awesome 🚂👍
Great video I see you don't have very many videos posted could we get a layout tour video
CV128=1 gets you independent control of each light. There's an insert with the model. One side show standard mode Fkeys and the other side show pro mode Fkeys. CV128=2 gets you back to standard mode.
Thanks! My insert was stuck to the packaging. I see it now.
If you do the pro lighting mode cv in the manual the lights are separately controlled
Thanks! I missed the insert that explained pro mode.
Wow! Great review! The Blue Goose looks great and I can't wait for mine to arrive! I like the way it looks pulling the Santa Fe heavy weight cars! I'm going to have mine pull a sliver streamline train. Thanks for addressing the back-up emergence light and how to engage it! P.S. I also really like that black Hudson you showed.
She's beautiful
