Wow: that's like a combination of several styles (Uechi Ryu, Shotokan, Japanese Jujitsu; JKD, etc), very ingenious. Always on balance; covered, and getting your full bodyweight into the motion. Of course I can't move like an expert; but I pick up what I can. THANKS! I've already watched and practiced the basic blocking and stances lessons.

@@MartyMoose1611 I give respect when it’s due. I’m sorry if I offended you. And I’m sure you believe in this stuff. I think you probably have not been exposed to a legitimate martial arts class. There are varying degrees of practicality and even some kenpo schools are ok. But my experience with Ed Parker kenpo is that it’s marketing hype with bad movement. I have run into some decent martial artists who claim it as their style, but they have trained in other disciplines and when sparring I’ve seen no kenpo. The pure kenpo guys who I’ve dealt with are speedsters with little power or technique. Their sparring is terrible.

My first Sensei was by the book JKA; but I only studied with him for one year (not long enough to be able to really use it). My second Sensei was more lenient; but more realistic (we beat each other up); then I had a jujitsu coach that taught me some great lessons; so I take what I can use from anyone. I don’t think Kempo would work for me without years of practice; but I can certainly glean some great lessons from Sensei Larry. No offense taken: we’re both comfortable with what we have.

Tatum has a very insincere bow to Rick after demonstrating. Interesting to note how 98% of fighting styles have no clue as to what physics terms are. Punches, for instance, are not created using "torque"; pulling the hand back to hikite does not increase power (and that is not the intent if you have read the books by Funakoshi sensei); the straight leg in the forward bow does not increase the force but hinders it; straightening an arm increase range and adds a minimal amount to actual impact force while twisting the hips and using the legs creates and increases forces; punches do not need to be made the way they teach in East Asian styles; punch in a straight line 90 degrees to the shoulder and NOT to the centreline of your body; standing full height, straight punches to the body are not efficient and not used unless the attacker's body drops to keep the punch horizontal to the ground; and the many other misconceptions that he teaches but have been proven erroneous since 1988. Farmers of Okinawa are not the ones who created and practiced Okinawa-te/te since they A) did not have the money/time to travel to China and B) did not have the time to create and "perfect" it. The ones who had the time/money to do so were the "noblemen" of Okinawa so Tatum's history is inaccurate and flawed. His history is as poorly researched as his technique is ((I call it all regurgitation as he teaches what he was told)

Fighting is not if he does this I will do that and having to remember 5 million different techniques and nonsense like this this will never work this is an effective this is not fighting this is the art of memorizing fancy combinations to somebody who throws in one kind of strike and then freezes in motion for 510 seconds absolute garbage

Only one problem.. Nobody attacks like that! Nobody nobody nobody nobody nobody nobody! absolutely nobody in the history of the earth has ever attacked like the attacker does in this choreography of make belief. Even more no attacker has ever just stood still after their initial attack or getting hit themselves. Fighting is highly dynamic, chaotic and disruptive and the amount of BS this instructor showcases as being applicable in a physical confrontation is mind boggling and a big fucking red flag that he has absolutely never been in a fight and has no clue. - Internet stranger with more experience than most.
