Hey there and thanks for the comment. I’ve don’t a review of a couple of their brushes in the past have a look at those on the channel for more in depth thoughts. I would say they are not a good value proposition either the wolf bristle or the kolinskys. My initial positivity for them reduced over time. I would suggest perhaps considering rosemary and co or broken toad as a similar but better (imho) quality alternative with more longevity. I hope this helps.

Hey there thanks for the comment. For both parts here, mix, mix and mix some more, when you think you have mixed enough, you've not! mix more! So with a brush I would use a larger soft brush maybe a 1inch tip, as always do multiple layers in opposing directions of application. You will minimise stroke lines but as you say it won't be perfect. The reason you don't get the lustrous finish with the airbrush is the atomisation of the paint. So you can try a couple of things, I would go with a larger needle and nozzle letting more paint through and as aways built up over many layers. I would also cap off those layers with a varnish, I prefer satin to bring back the shine of metallics when I airbrush. Don't forget to use alcohol to thin them down if you need to. Did I mention making sure you are mixing the paints enough?! I cannot stress this enough. To answer your question pressure and base coats. It's the same answer as with consistency of paints it depends on your set up entirely there isn't a magic number. You're variables like needle and nozzle size, how thin your paints are how clean your needle is and your personal preference all come in. I work between 5 psi all the way up 30 depending on what I'm doing and which if my air brushes I use. Make sure your paints are thing enough for you brush and your using a big needle, metallics tend to clog more so unless you are doing a tiny area bigger is better IMHO. Base coat I tend to always go over black personally. If I want a brighter gold I will go black / silver / gold and maybe 3 - 5 coats of each depending on coverage as a function of how thin the paint is. Then seal as I say above with a satin varnish. Primers whatever works for you tbh. Just make sure your surfaces are clean and grease / release agent free and get a good solid coat. I just use cheap acrylic primer and then go with the above steps. Thanks you fella, glad to have inspired you. Those gashes were done before priming using a old craft knife blade and a candle to heat it up. Just go slow and not too deep to avoid any internal cavities in the model. I will do a video on that down the line. Armour tutorial is coming on the 19/08/24

Thanks again for the positive reception. Hoping to get the first one out a the Monday after next if I can enough time! Infinity airbruses, .50 for most things and a .15 for the eyes. Lighting was just front on ring light on a black background for the show case footage the contrast between the black and the colour with the single light source obviously gives the glow more prominence but the key is understanding light in the mini. Make the darks darker and the lights lighter to maximise contrast. If you paint using the GW method it’s almost impossible to get that that sort of effect. Game play footage we had the game room lights blue for attacker and red for defender and directed to the relevant deployment areas of the board. I think there was only one shot of that. Usually I shoot with cold light to get the best look at the model in the showcase without it giving a false impression of the paint job as I have in the show case it was a ring light at 6500k so cool broad spectrum daylight. Hope the tutorials help:)

Hey there, thanks for the comment and praise much appreciated:) there is a tutorial coming for the Stormcast as I work on another unit for the chamber. Skaven unlikely but there will be a tutorial for the glow. As it takes me much longer to record and tutorials I’m only going to be doing in depth ones for the models in my armies indeed to replicate. If there is enough interest in one off projects like the Skaven though I’ll happily but something together I get another model in the range to demonstrate it on. Keep an eye out for SCE in coming weeks :)

Valid points. Your observation around the addict is on point I must admit. I will be staying with the games as I do enjoy them and the models are great for the most part. I get the move to locking content away they are appeasing share holders. I gripe but the value I personally get it more than enough to warrant it right now. That might not always be the case. I do feel they are pushing a lot of people away with their marketing strategy but we live in a capitalist society and they are a business first and foremost I suppose.

Thank you. I agree for the most part. I'm not totally against paying for access to the app and the other elements if they all come as a part of a reasonable subscription cost. If I have to start paying more for individual elements or the price goes up too much I may have to revise that stance. Alas it is a capitalist world and they are a business so I don't see it changing too much soon tbh. I'm glad you get enjoyment out of it too!

@@ForgeofSolus I wouldn’t be against a one time fee for their app. I design 3D terrain to be printed. I never copied their IP neither others IP. I do put a bit of flair (mainly Star Wars) for continuity. On my Cult3D store in the tag I mentioned you can play games like Star Wars, Warhammer and such and they (GW) sent me a letter from their lawyer that I am infringing on their trademark along with threats of legal actions….That turned me completely off their products. I indirectly promote their products. As much as I want o buy their miniature and its ecosystem I don’t think I want to. Specially their inspirations is heavily a copy of other IP.

Yeah it is. I’m not sure longer term if it’s worth it for me but I do collect SBGL so it is a mini I’m after which I was going to buy in the after market as you say in which case it significantly lowers the overall cost for me personally. Thanks for the comment :)

Hey thanks for the support and the sub. I’ve got to admit I’m enjoying it more than I thought I would. It would be nice to see more animation content in there and not sure if they add in a regular schedule? I’m enjoying the vault for sure, a number of books on there and back issues I’m certainly going to enjoy reading so there is value there for me. I think for the price of entry atm it’s viable for me but that may change in a year if there is not fresh content. As I say in the video some of the battle reports are very good and well produced which is really good for me as I learn to play the actual game. Thanks again for the interaction.

Perhaps they need more clarity around what they mean by rules? Do they mean core rules or the entire expanding ruleset for factions. The wording around AoS is clearer in that respect. You raise good points though and it is somewhat disingenuous of them. Answering those questions from the community in a public forum might go a long way to restoring people’s faith in them as a company while helping us to accept they do need to make money as a business. Accuracy key for me, as you point out to feel like a bait and switch as happened is not ideal. Thanks for your comment.

@@ForgeofSolus Fair points. I'd be far more interested in playing 40k if the app was $5-10/mo and allowed me to build any army without restrictions. Then it should also have gameplay instructions to help novice players understand WTF to do and when. They have a ton of game development studios they work with. It's crazy to me as a 15+ year game dev that they haven't put the whole game into an app to make it stupidly simple for new players.

Some good points there again fella. I had the same thought years back about building an app. I did actually move down the route myself with the original version of killteam Putting nfc chips in the bases and building readers in to my board so I could have everything I needed to play showing via small GTK front end running off a PI. After going pretty far down that rabbit hole though for me at least that’s not what I want I like the rolling dice and having fun cinematic moments, debating rules and just been afk for a while. I get what you mean about as a way to learn but tbf to gw they have done some ok introduction videos. Perhaps they need to do more of that and help those of us that are not overly familiar with the systems get the most out of the (considerable) investment we make to play their games. I’m not going to hate in Gw although, more than enough folk doing that out there. I enjoy their universes, evolving lore and games. I get a lot of enjoyment and relaxation from paint their models too. Is it expensive hell yes but I guess I still have the pragmatic view much like any game physical or not the company behind them wants to make a profit and needs to make a profit continue making and iterating the game and the universe its set in. It’s tough one though isn’t it with the cost of living increasing it’s hard to qualify something like this. I suppose then the value is to the individual and their particular view of that value proposition at any given time.

@@ForgeofSolus Wow, your app sounds like a quantum leap farther than I'd need. All I want is something that lets me step through all of the phases of 40k or kill team. Pick your strats and such then hit play to have a visual walk through of how to run a game. Still roll your own dice, but any rule lookups could be done inside the app so they're ALWAYS up to date. No need to lug around books if you have a smart phone or tablet. I'd rather buy books for lore and art, not rules that are going to be out of date within 6 months.

I totally agree I am well versed in the DA lore. I've been a fan of them and SW since 2nd edition. However I've gone with my own head cannon and structure for my army based on my own version of pre-heresy like structure using bits of the Hexagramaton and bits from the new codex structure:) I don't actually play 40k at all either so it was just rule of cool making up some fun lore to to along with a fun paint scheme just because I like primaris models and love the aesthetic the Dark Angels. Much like my Raven wing are inverted green and black versions of this theme with the bone been black and the black green. One of the great things about this hobby you can take something you like and go in your own direction with it, working off the solid base Games workshop have given us. This actual colour scheme was one I came up with for the Angels of a primaris only Angels of Defiance DA successor chapter killteam (I don't like the divided in to quarters look) but thought since at the time the new terminators were not a thing repurposing the aggressors as terminator proxies for my regular DA's with a that scheme lead in to what I had written in my own home brew law. :) Thanks for the info though much appreciated:)

@@ForgeofSolus yeah i kind of felt like an ass writting it but nonetheless thought they would look so cool for Angels of Absolution (defiance as you correctly pointed out, have a different pattern), and felt that leaving that little piece of info of Deathwing being comprised exclusively of Terminatour armored space marines would be good to know for readers. (Hey, enjoy, its a luxury ONLY the Dark Angels can afford, having their entire 1st company made of Terminators)

Not to worry you're not the first and certainly doubt will be the last to 'correct' me but at least you have not given death sentence as someone else did because the green I paint mine is not how they felt the DA's should be portrayed. Water off a ducks back to me each to their own thoughts as I say I enjoy my hobby my way and empower others to do the same :) They could certainly work as Iron Wing as you say, perhaps customised more with heavier weaponry too and some customised redemptors perhaps. In my own take on the Hexagrammaton I replaced StormWing with the Resurrection Wing, hunters of the fallen that fell foul of chaos demons and acted similar to grey knights. I do enjoy my own divergent lore, mostly played out though the medium of Killteam. I'm still not sold on Primaris been inducted in to the chapter in the main GW narrative personally how they have chosen to do so I'm happy exploring my own variant of the Dark Angels that exists on the fringe of the imperium only loosely related to the main lore. I agree in this one, I’m one of those people that needs to field a completed army and it’s taken me an entire edition to get it done. 5 years rather than 3 years might be better?

Yes I was a little annoyed for my gaming buddy with his darkoaths only getting a supplement right as the new edition is about to drop but still it’s not like we have to move to the new edition but still we will no doubt :)

My hobby time is limited with a family unfortunately and work commitments I only get maybe 4 hours a week hobby tim. It wasn’t just a 2k point army however, I should clarify in collected and painted every model/unit in the maggotkin if Nurgle range including all the various demons sown to the plague toads as I tend to enjoy collecting and painting more than playing. I’ll be doing showcase video in the run up to 4th edition. On the plus side going in to this edition I can learn to play from day one with an army I’m happy to field while still enjoying the collecting aspect with my new army project :)

Yeah there really is an abundance of detail of them where they need to be lorically for me at least humble and simple with a specific coherent purpose. Don’t get me wrong they do look cool but they don’t say ‘Stormcast’ to me personally.
